Chapter 1305: Chapter 1307: The Divine Guardian Takes Action_1

”Why should I, just because you’re a few years older doesn’t mean you’re something special. When have you ever taken me out to play? At least Uncle Yuchuan used to always take me with him.” Princess Yingtong gave Ao Qi an eye roll.

”Enough already, if I took you with me we couldn’t even leave the Western Regions. You are the only daughter of the Queen and these past two years you’ve been studying under the former Saintess’s Teacher, your status is distinguished. Who would dare to take you out of the Western Regions?” Ao Qi said displeased, ”The last time you hid in my merchant team, it led to me being stopped just as we arrived in Shengyao City and I was later punished by the King. You’ve caused me plenty of trouble.”

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun were both stunned. Isn’t the former Saintess’s Teacher the same as Chu Hai’s mother Fen Wan’s Teacher? Now that Chu Hai can’t find his Master, I wonder if Princess Yingtong has any knowledge about that.

Jiang Yichun gave Bai Ruozhu a look, warning her not to act rashly. Bai Ruozhu nodded slightly. She didn’t dare to speak rashly. Opening her mouth might not only reveal their purpose for being there but might also put Fen Wan and her Teacher in danger.

It seemed that Chu Hai was unaware that Princess Yingtong was apprenticed to his Master, probably because he had been poisoned and away from the Western Regions for a long while. During that time, it also wouldn’t have been convenient for him to communicate with his Master.

Now neither Bai Ruozhu nor Jiang Yichun wanted to excuse themselves. They continued to listen to the argument, their faces stiff. Bai Ruozhu noticed that when Princess Yingtong mentioned her Teacher, Hao Feng, her tone didn’t carry concern. It seemed like she knew where Hao Feng was, or perhaps Hao Feng hadn’t suddenly disappeared due to some issue because she wouldn’t have been so calm otherwise.

Chu Hai would probably breathe a sigh of relief knowing this.

After bickering for half of the day, Ao Qi finally realized that Bai Ruozhu and her husband had been watching them for quite some time. While Princess Yingtong seemed fine, Ao Qi’s face turned somewhat red with embarrassment. He said to Bai Ruozhu and her partner, ”I apologize for the spectacle. Yingtong and I just don’t get along well. We argue every time we meet. It’s better now, but when we were kids she used to hit me whenever she saw me. I didn’t fight back because she was younger and a girl, and I didn’t want to be harsh with her. But it only seemed to encourage her more.”

Hearing this, Princess Yingtong was about to start another argument, but then Bai Ruozhu chuckled softly, leading the princess to stop.

”Do you know who in the Holy Hall has the most proficient medical skills?” Bai Ruozhu suddenly asked.

”The Great Elder and the Saintess both should have decent medical skills. I’ve heard that the current Saintess, Honglian, is exceptionally perceptive,” Ao Qi said, ”Why do you ask?”

”I’d seen that Jin Jing was gravely injured, almost beyond saving. But now it sounds like she’s been revived and is even in good shape. So I’m quite curious, which person has such impressive medical skills,” Bai Ruozhu said.

After giving it some thought, Ao Qi said, ”It’s very likely that Diao Mo sought out the Saintess, who then asked the Great Elder to intervene. Oh, and the Great Elder is the Teacher of Saintess Honglian. Normally, the preceding Saintess would teach her successor, but the former Saintess, Fen Wan, passed away from illness before she could retire. So the Great Elder had to take over.”

Princess Yingtong suddenly showed a look of disdain, ”Haven’t you heard? That Honglian might be the Great Elder’s illegitimate daughter.”

This time, it was Ao Qi who was shocked. If that was the case, the Great Elder and the Saintess would have a family hold over the Holy Hall.

”Holy Guard, what brings you to our modest establishment?” Suddenly the shopkeeper’s voice rang from outside. He deliberately raised his voice, seeming to be following Ao Qi’s instructions as a reminder for them.

Princess Yingtong’s face changed abruptly, ”That Diao Mo! Knowing that I took away people, she still dares to send the Holy Guard after us? Does she think she can turn the heavens upside down?”

”You should leave through the window. I’m afraid the people from the Holy Hall won’t let this go easily this time.” Ao Qi said to Bai Ruozhu and her husband with some urgency.

They nodded and were about to get up when a black-clad person burst into the private room like a gust of wind.

”Are young master Ao and Princess Yingtong attempting to shelter a criminal from the Holy Hall?” the newcomer asked with a stony face.

Ao Qi’s complexion changed drastically, ”I didn’t expect the Holy Hall to send the Divine Guardian Commander Yuefeng here. Are they determined to target my guests?”

Bai Ruozhu was not familiar with the positions within the Holy Hall, but on hearing ’Divine Guardian Commander’, she understood it was a rank much higher than the Holy Guards they had dealt with before. Moreover, from observing his martial arts, she knew he was not like the ordinary Holy Guard and that his prowess was no less than that of Jiang Yichun.

Jiang Yichun’s face also displayed a grave expression. He regretted once again that he had too many concerns and hadn’t killed Diao Mo back in Shengyao City.

The man in black, Yuefeng, smiled very amiably, ”Young master Ao is mistaken. No matter whether your guest has been wronged or not, once we get to the Holy Hall and confront the matter, we will know the truth. Besides, if the confrontation doesn’t clarify things, can’t we still inquire about the divine will?”

”Once someone is taken to the Holy Hall, who knows how that woman Diao Mo will frame them? Her own daughter is trying to steal someone’s husband, and she uses the Holy Hall as a backing. Isn’t that blasphemy against the divine spirits?” Princess Yingtong asked indignantly.

Yuefeng’s expression remained unchanged, ”That’s why the divine will shall be ascertained.”

After speaking, he suddenly turned to look at Jiang Yichun and said, ”I advise you to cooperate willingly. As the Divine Guardian Commander, I wouldn’t be here without bringing a subordinate.”

Ao Qi whispered, ”The Divine Guardian Commander leads the Divine Guardian force, and each guardian under his command is highly skilled in martial arts. Don’t act rashly; Yingtong and I will immediately go to the palace to petition.”

After finishing his statement, he glanced at the brooch Bai Ruozhu had just demonstrated on Princess Yingtong, and said in a low voice, ”Right, keep the brooch on and don’t take it off. If anyone tries to touch you, ask them if they no longer regard the High Priestess Kailin with respect.”

”Kailin?” Bai Ruozhu inquired.

”I’ll explain later. Protect yourselves, and try not to conflict with them as much as possible,” Ao Qi said before pulling Princess Yingtong away. Princess Yingtong gave Yuefeng a fierce glare as they left. Yuefeng’s expression remained unchanged, his face still wore a genial smile, completely impenetrable, making clear he was a deeply hidden character.

”We will accompany you to the Holy Hall and hope for a fair handling of this matter by the Holy Hall,” Jiang Yichun said, then reached out and held Bai Ruozhu’s hand, signaling her not to fear.

Bai Ruozhu smiled back at him. With him by her side, what was there to fear?

Yet, her two trump cards were unavailable: Furball was still asleep with no sign of waking up, and she couldn’t enter her Space for reasons unknown, leaving her feeling uncertain.

Yuefeng led the two away from the Restaurant and directly to the Main Temple of the Holy Hall. Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun had only glimpsed it from afar; this was their first time approaching it, and they had not anticipated entering the Holy Hall to face trial.

Along the way, Jianqi and the others thought to emerge and rescue, but Jiang Yichun secretly gestured for them to stop, and they silently retreated into hiding.

When Bai Ruozhu noticed Jianqi and the others pulling back, she saw Yuefeng’s mouth twitch slightly. Unsure if Yuefeng had detected the presence of Jianqi and his companions, Bai Ruozhu felt certain he wasn’t as simple as he appeared on the surface.
