Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1340: Chapter 1342: Take the Opportunity to Ruin Her_1

Bai Ruozhu almost jumped up in excitement as she entered and smelled the strong scent of medicines. However, there were no medicinal materials placed in the outer area; instead, there was another door inside. It was because of this that the scent of the pharmacy hadn’t dissipated too severely.

She walked through the second door and saw small wooden boxes, small jade bottles, and large medicine cabinets. But when she opened the drawers, she found not loosely placed medicinal materials, but sealed boxes or jade bottles.

She nodded to herself, seeing that the ruler had arranged the storage of the Medicine Storage quite well. After all, the Medicine Storage wasn’t an ordinary pharmacy where medicinal materials were frequently sold and replaced. However, if not preserved properly, they could become damp and lose their efficacy.

Many medicinal materials had their names written on them, but the names in the Western Regions were different from those in Danliang Country, and they also differed slightly from what Bai Ruozhu knew in her previous life. Therefore, she had to go through them one by one.

Soon, she found many rare medicinal materials. Regardless of whether they were needed to detoxify the king or not, she took a small amount of each into her space, along with some seeds.

With so many medicinal materials, it was impossible for every type to have a detailed count. She was taking them into her space—who would know how much she had taken?

Bai Ruozhu smirked, considering it her consultation fee for treating the king. Moreover, it truly would be a waste to leave so many medicinal materials unused.

There were also many seeds she couldn’t identify, but she packed away a few nonetheless; once planted in her space, she would know what they were.

”Wow, Emerald Lotus!” she exclaimed as she dashed over, having found a crucial ingredient for the Detoxification Medicine.

Before long, she stored quite a few medicinal materials and seeds in her space and also found five types of medicinal herbs for detoxification, much more than she had expected.

Just as she was about to check again to ensure nothing was missed, a rustling sound suddenly came from outside.

She couldn’t help but stop in her tracks. Could it be that Lian Jia was getting impatient?

But Lian Jia clearly had agreed to stay away and wait for her signal. Could it be that it wasn’t Lian Jia?

With that thought, she quickly retreated to the side of a large medicine cabinet and then hid inside her space.

Soon, the sound of the door being pushed open came from outside, followed by Lian Jia’s voice, ”Queen, what are you doing here? This is the king’s Private Storage Room. Have you informed the king of your visit here?”

The Queen at the doorway raised her eyebrows, ”How dare you! You are but a guard captain; what right do you have to question me? Yingtong is unwell, and I have come to find her some medicinal herbs. Could the king begrudge his own daughter the medicine for her treatment? What do you mean by stopping me?”

The Queen narrowed her eyes slightly, ”Could it be that you are hiding someone here, colluding with others to steal from the king’s Medicine Storage?”

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t see the situation outside from her position, but she could hear the voices. She arched an eyebrow, feeling like the Queen had come for her.

During their conversation in Qingyou Hall, they had Chen Feng and others guarding outside, and naturally, the king also had his trusted men watching. Therefore, it was impossible for the Queen to have heard their conversation. It seemed then that the Queen must have had people watching the Medicine Storage all year round and had just discovered Bai Ruozhu’s entry.

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t tell if the Queen had been stealing medicinal materials from the Medicine Storage or not, but she curled her lip, unable to understand the Queen’s thinking. To have the title of Queen and yet choose to be a lapdog for the Holy Hall.

”What is the meaning of this, Queen? The King has ordered that no one is to enter here, if you require any medicinal materials, you simply have to ask the King for them,” Lian Jia said.

The Queen pushed Lian Jia impatiently and said, ”Out of my way, how dare you obstruct me, I am the Queen! I’ve been informed that you’ve been conspiring with outsiders to open the Medicine Storage illegally. I must investigate today to show the King your true colors, you traitor.”

”If the Queen insists on forcing her way in, then I must act against decorum!” Lian Jia knew that the Queen was just looking for a pretext to get in and capture Bai Ruozhu, then blow the situation out of proportion. Even if the King would eventually admit he had permitted Bai Ruozhu to be in the Medicine Storage, with the pressure from the Holy Hall, it was very likely that both he and Bai Ruozhu would be incriminated.

”How dare you, seize her!” The Queen shouted. With a wave of her hand, a guard and a nanny attacked Lian Jia simultaneously. Lian Jia’s expression turned solemn; the Queen had brought experts with her, and these two might even have been dispatched by the Holy Hall. It seemed they were determined to break in and capture Bai Ruozhu or even do away with her on the spot.

Lian Jia cursed herself for not bringing more people, but she had only come with Bai Ruozhu to avoid any leaks. If anything happened to the person inside, her husband would likely turn against the Royal Family.

Gritting her teeth, Lian Jia blocked the two assailants, but unexpectedly, the Queen snorted coldly and four more guards appeared, escorting the Queen as they charged in.

”Don’t go too far, Queen! Remember, you are the Queen of the Western Regions!” Lian Jia shouted angrily as she was held up by the two, unable to get past them.

The Queen laughed heartily. ”I am well aware of who I am; I don’t need your reminder!”

After speaking, she and the four guards rushed in. Bai Ruozhu finally saw figures on the large screen and leisurely chewed on a fruit, muttering, ”The Queen’s expression is so ferocious; to be so excited about acting like a dog, she really does resemble one.”

She spat out the fruit peel. ”No, that’s not fair; that’s an insult to dogs. Dogs are friends to humans, far cuter than her.”

Yet the Queen’s face was filled with surprise and anger as she entered. Why was there no one inside? Could it be that Lian Jia had been stalling, allowing Lin Zhu to escape?

”Where is she? Find her this instant!” the Queen bellowed in fury. Outside, hearing this, Lian Jia found it strange. The room was a closed space; where could Mrs. Bai have hidden?

As the guards reported they found no one, Lian Jia heaved a huge sigh of relief; wherever Mrs. Bai had gone, as long as she was not harmed, all was well.

”How is that possible? Search properly, check for any mechanisms!” The Queen scrutinized the room again, confirming there was no one there. Since the room was sealed, there was nowhere to escape, so she assumed there must be a Secret Passage with a mechanism.

Unfortunately, despite the guards’ prolonged search, they found nothing, and the Queen, in her frustration, slapped a guard and cursed ”useless”.

Just then, the King arrived with his men; the noise from Lian Jia’s fight had alerted the Palace guards, who had informed the King.

Jiang Yichun saw Lian Jia struggling and quickly intervened, swiftly injuring the Queen’s guards. Lian Jia seized the opportunity and struck the chest of the expert nanny with a palm. The nanny coughed up blood and collapsed to the side.

”What are you doing, Queen? Since when did my Private Storage Room become your Back Garden?” the King demanded angrily.

Jiang Yichun narrowed his eyes; couldn’t he see what the Queen was trying to do?

Fortunately, he knew his wife’s capabilities; otherwise, he would have been driven to murder in his fright. Yet even so, this offence could not be forgiven!
