Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1314: Chapter 1316: Only Taking You with Me_1

Bai Ruozhu took two steps back and had no choice but to turn around and head back toward the toilet. She wasn’t scared of Sangta, she just didn’t want any contact with him, especially after remembering something about ”the prophecy of the High Priest” that he mentioned.

Wait, the High Priest Sangta spoke of, could it be Kailin? But would the Barbarian Clan and the Western Regions share the same High Priest?

”I’m not a ferocious beast, what are you afraid of?” Sangta, with his arms crossed in front of his chest, looked at Bai Ruozhu lazily, a teasing smile playing on his lips.

Bai Ruozhu was already walking away, not intending to answer him, when in the blink of an eye, he had blocked her path again!

She suddenly remembered that moments ago, Sangta had been silently lurking behind her. If it wasn’t for his very high status, it meant his martial arts were much superior to hers, so much so that she hadn’t noticed him approaching so closely.

Looking at the foreign clan man who had blocked her way, Bai Ruozhu sighed, suppressed the irritation in her heart, and said, ”The Prince’s Beast Team is too terrifying, no normal person would not be scared. I have things to attend to, please let me pass, Prince.”

”I won’t let you go. I was wondering how I would find you in Gaochang City, and I didn’t expect to run into you here. Xiaohei really did me a great favor.” As he spoke, the black panther came over, and he even reached out to pat its head.

Though it was a ferocious beast, its proximity to Bai Ruozhu did not make her feel any alarm. Instead, she was captivated by the sincere look in the black panther’s eyes.

Bai Ruozhu felt that the black panther was very friendly toward her. This friendliness appeared not to be obedience commanded by Sangta, but rather the kind of friendliness an animal shows to someone it recognizes and approves of.

She couldn’t articulate where this feeling came from, but deep down she felt the black panther would not harm her.

”What, you must avoid me?” Sangta raised his eyebrows. His face still wore a smile, but it held a sense of cynical levity.

”My apologies, Prince, but it is inappropriate for us to converse alone as we are unacquainted. I must take my leave.” Knowing the black panther would not hurt her, she turned to leave once again.

”Hey, don’t you want to know what happened to your friend?” This time, Sangta did not follow her but stood his ground, confident she would look back.

Bai Ruozhu paused, struck by an ominous premonition. ”What friend?”

”The tall, thin one who has been following you, riding in the horse carriage, the sickly one who seems to be called Chu Hai.” Sangta laughed again as he spoke, his laughter resembling that of a fox.

Perhaps he had been with wild beasts for too long, for his expressions always seemed to carry a hint of the animal in them. Coupled with his sharply contoured face and a certain wild charisma, he exuded a deadly allure.

There was no lack of admirers and women throwing themselves at Sangta in his clan. Even before he left, there had been women who took the initiative to climb into his bed; content to spend just one night with him without any status. In the Western Regions, although the women were afraid of him, they would still be attracted to him when they saw him—in fact, some were even driven mad by him. Just yesterday, a palace concubine came to seduce him, desiring to have a tryst, but he kicked her away.

Yet the woman in front of him was causing a slight sense of defeat within him; she hadn’t even looked him straight in the eye. She didn’t seem to fear him as the other Western Regions or Zhongyuan people did. It was as though she didn’t regard him at all, as if he was just an ordinary man, as mundane as one could possibly be.

”Where is he?” Although Bai Ruozhu no longer moved forward, her look back at Sangta was full of suspicion.

”You don’t believe me?” Sangta’s brows furrowed for the first time, having never been ignored and doubted by a woman like this before.

”He was secretly investigating some news about a former holy maiden in the Holy Hall when he was captured by the monarch’s men. However, the monarch has been too busy hosting you to deal with him,” Sangta quickly masked his emotions and reverted to his flippant demeanor.

Taken aback, Bai Ruozhu no longer doubted that Sangta was deceiving her. ”Where is he locked up?”

”If you ask, I’ll take you there. It’s not impossible for me to help you rescue him, but only you can come with me. I don’t like that pretty boy of yours,” Sangta said, his expression full of disdain. Can a man who looks prettier than a woman even be called a man?

Despite being somewhat angry with Jiang Yichun, Bai Ruozhu wouldn’t let her man be mocked by someone else. She glared fiercely at Sangta and said, ”Right, you’re not a pretty boy, you’re a big, dark-faced man, Happy now?”

Sangta’s mouth twitched, and he couldn’t help but touch his own cheek. Was he really that dark? His was a healthy tan from the sun, which is manly, isn’t it?

”I won’t go alone with you. If you won’t say, then forget it. I’ll just go and ask the monarch myself to release him,” Bai Ruozhu said and turned to walk away.

Sangta, somewhat frustrated, caught up with her and said with a frown, ”Why do you walk away as soon as things don’t go your way? The monarch probably doesn’t have the time to care about you right now, and your friend might already be under severe torture by the monarch’s trusted aides. They are very wary of anyone inquiring about Hao Feng.”

”You should think carefully. If you go to the monarch and don’t manage to plead successfully, you might end up getting all of you caught, and then it would be too late to save him.” Sangta felt his throat getting dry. When did he ever need to talk this much nonsense with anyone?

Bai Ruozhu pondered for a moment and then gritted her teeth and agreed.

If Sangta wanted to capture her, he wouldn’t need to go to the trouble of tricking her away. By now, he could have captured her several times over, and there was no need to make up something about Chu Hai to deceive her.

Furthermore, the monarch’s intentions were unclear. These high-ranking figures could treat you like family one moment and seek to kill you the next for their peace of mind. She couldn’t just ignore Chu Hai. Since she had brought him back to the Western Regions, she had to bring him back safely and hand him over to Diao Yao.

At that moment, the panther suddenly stepped forward and knelt down in front of Bai Ruozhu, resting its front paws on the ground. Confused, Bai Ruozhu looked towards Sangta for help.

To her surprise, Sangta’s face showed a trace of astonishment. When he saw her looking at him, he quickly said, ”It wants you to ride on its back.”

Bai Ruozhu was also startled—ride a panther? She had never tried that before.

The panther nudged her hand with its head, urging her to get on. With no time to think it through, Bai Ruozhu straddled the panther’s back.

”Isn’t it your beast pet? Why did you seem surprised just now?” Bai Ruozhu suddenly stared at Sangta and asked.

”Who said it’s my beast pet? It just follows me; I can’t control what it wants to do,” Sangta said and then, gathering his light Martial Arts, he moved swiftly ahead. The panther followed quickly, almost causing Bai Ruozhu to fall off. Thankfully, she reacted quickly and managed to stabilize herself by grabbing the panther’s neck.

She took Sangta’s words to mean that the beasts following him had their own wills and he couldn’t control their actions. She didn’t think further into it nor did she consider that Sangta might not be the owner of the panther, and that its true master could be someone else.
