Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1320: Chapter 1322: The Girl Who Lost a Leg_1

Everywhere here was permeated with strangeness. Bai Ruozhu didn’t understand why the black panther had led her here, nor could she tell if Sangta was friend or foe. Therefore, she didn’t dare to let Jianqi leave, and could only say to the woman, ”Since you need medical treatment, you can’t be choosy about the doctor. He is my guard and assistant. If you avoid him, would you refuse treatment if a male doctor came?”

The woman sobbed, ”I have never sought medical treatment from a doctor before. The Holy Hall would bless us maids, ensuring we were free from illness and disasters. However, suddenly I ended up like this. The person who saved me said that I would certainly not survive three days without seeing a doctor. Otherwise, I would definitely not let a man see my body.”

Such people were truly brainwashed by the Holy Hall. Bai Ruozhu, somewhat impatiently, said, ”Since the person who saved your life has already said so, you should cooperate properly. If you really don’t want us to look, we will leave.”

Upon hearing this, the woman grew anxious and slowly began to lift the blanket that covered her.

She was only wearing a pair of ancient underwear, but the white fabric was stained with plenty of blood, and even the bedsheet underneath had turned red with blood.

At first glance, it looked like a miscarriage, but upon closer inspection, both were shocked to see that the woman’s pant leg was empty!

The pants collapsed, with nothing inside, and blood was still seeping from them.

Being able to talk so much while bleeding out like this, and the fact that the woman’s leg had been tightly covered by the blanket, meant that Bai Ruozhu had not anticipated the injury to be so severe.

The woman grimaced in pain, and pointing to her empty pant leg, she said, ”My leg is gone, completely gone!”

After she had finished, she suddenly broke into a wail, her crying so heart-wrenching that it made one’s heart ache with her, and Bai Ruozhu’s eyes couldn’t help but redden.

How could a girl in the prime of her life, now without a leg, easily get married or move about?

The woman was crying so intensely that she suddenly fainted.

Bai Ruozhu hurried forward to check her pulse and discovered that she was indeed severely blood-deficient. However, she wondered what kind of life-saving medicine someone had given her that allowed her to speak with them.

She didn’t dare to delay any longer and immediately said to Jianqi, ”Quickly go boil some hot water; make sure the pot is cleaned and the water is fully boiled. Her condition is very dangerous right now.”

Jianqi furrowed his brows, ”Master, won’t this expose your Medical Skills?”

Bai Ruozhu didn’t even turn her head as she responded, ”It doesn’t matter anymore. They grew suspicious yesterday in the Divine Hall; it can’t be hidden for much longer. This person must be someone Sangta asked to be saved. He helped save Chu Hai, so consider it repaying a favor.”

There was something else she didn’t voice—she couldn’t bear not to save the woman. As a doctor, while she had spoken much about not revealing her skills, facing a patient now brought a different mentality.

”Yes, your subordinate is on it,” Jianqi responded and immediately went to the Kitchen in the small courtyard. Though the courtyard was dilapidated, there was a stove and a pot, as well as a well in the back to draw water from.

After Jianqi had left, Bai Ruozhu used a dagger to cut open the woman’s pant leg, revealing the amputation wound.

She quickly inserted needles to stop the Blood Flow, but her mind was in turmoil. The wound was cleanly cut by Swords or other sharp weapons, which meant that someone had savagely amputated the woman’s leg!

And because she had hardly been treated before, her wound had begun to fester and become inflamed, no wonder the person who rescued the woman had said she wouldn’t survive three days.

After Bai Ruozhu had stopped the woman’s bleeding, she finally regained consciousness. She winced in pain and looked at Bai Ruozhu with pleading eyes, ”Madam, thank you. Can you please help me? The pain is too much to bear.”

With such a severe injury, of course it was painful.

While Bai Ruozhu was inserting needles to temporarily relieve her pain, she asked, ”How did you get injured like this? And who brought you here?”

The woman’s eyes reddened again as she said, ”My name is Zhanna. I was originally a menial maid working in the Holy Hall, doing mundane tasks like sweeping and cleaning. Everything was fine, but a few days ago, I woke up to intense leg pain, and when I touched it, my entire leg was gone. I was no longer in the backyard of the Holy Hall but instead at the Chaotic Burial Ground outside the city.”

Zhanna glanced at her amputated leg, and the sight of the wound made her feel sick and despondent.

”I don’t know how this happened to me. I wanted to ask someone in the Holy Hall, but I couldn’t make it back. Just when I was in despair, a man with a masked face rescued me. He gave me some medicine to stabilize my condition, and then he brought me here to stay temporarily. He said a doctor would soon come to treat me, and even if my leg couldn’t be saved, at least I would survive.”

Although Zhanna was still crying, her eyes sparkled with a firm resolve. ”I thought about dying, but I can’t die. I must find out why I lost my leg. If I die like this, I won’t be at peace; even in death, my eyes wouldn’t close.”

Lost a leg? Bai Ruozhu felt a twitch in her eyelids. The situation happened so suddenly that she hadn’t had time to think much, but now she had to consider Jin Jing, who had recovered as if nothing had happened. She clearly saw that Jin Jing’s amputated leg had been mangled by a panther, making it impossible to reattach. And Jin Jing’s last appearance in the Holy Hall didn’t seem to involve a prosthetic leg. Even if it were a prosthetic, how could she wear one with an unhealed wound?

But Jin Jing looked as if she was unharmed, and with such a serious injury, even if there were an exceptional doctor to reattach her leg, the wound wouldn’t have healed so quickly, right?

Where did Jin Jing’s leg come from? Could it be related to the woman before her?

She carefully examined Zhanna, noting that she appeared to be of similar age to Jin Jing, and their height and build were also very similar. Could it be that the leg she lost went to Jin Jing?

Bai Ruozhu took a deep breath. This was beyond her understanding in the realm of medical science; there was a strangeness to the entire situation, and the Holy Hall was not a clean place.

”What about your family? Haven’t they gone to the Holy Hall to look for you since you’ve been missing?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Zhanna shook her head, ”I’m an orphan. The Holy Hall was my home, but now...” Her eyes showed a glimmer of resentment, ”I’ve never left the Holy Hall, yet I ended up in such a plight, and was even thrown into the Chaotic Burial Ground. It must have been someone from the Divine Hall!”

At that moment, Jianqi came in with a basin of hot water and said, ”Your leg was probably deliberately taken by someone. They thought you were dead, that’s why they dumped you at the Chaotic Burial Ground. Fortunately, you were lucky enough to survive. Did the person who saved you say when he would come back?”

”He didn’t say, only that a doctor would come. These past two days, only the elderly grandmother next door has brought me some food. I asked her, but she’s too old; she can’t hear anything and couldn’t give me any clear answers,” Zhanna replied.

Bai Ruozhu tested the temperature of the water and began to clean Zhanna’s wound. She then took out a small bottle of alcohol for disinfection. Although Bai Ruozhu had used needles to alleviate the pain, Zhanna was still in such agony that sweat beaded on her forehead.

After cleaning the wound, Bai Ruozhu found some high-quality medicinal herbs to treat her with and then said, ”You’ll also need to drink some decoction. I’ll go back and prepare it for you before bringing it over.”

Zhanna suddenly grabbed Bai Ruozhu’s hand, asking, ”Am I going to be a cripple for the rest of my life?”
