Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1329: Chapter 1331 Mother-Daughter Conspiracy_1

Saintess Honglian showed a trace of surprise; she knew the Holy Guard wouldn’t be so out of line without serious reason.

”Come in,” she said, her vermilion lips barely moving, her voice extremely soft.

The Holy Guard entered, knelt on one knee to salute, and when his gaze fell upon Saintess Honglian, he trembled involuntarily, his eyes seemingly glued to her and unable to look away.

Saintess Honglian wasn’t angry but coughed lightly. The Holy Guard came to his senses, hurriedly saluted again to apologize for his irreverence, his face turning red with embarrassment, silently chastising himself for being mesmerized and disrespecting the most sacred Saintess Honglian in his heart.

”Speak, what’s the matter?” Her voice remained very gentle, like a feather tickling the Holy Guard’s heart, warming him entirely. This warmth wasn’t born of mad desire but rather from worshipful fervor.

The Holy Guard cleared his throat, reining in his thoughts, and looking down, he said, ”An informant reported that there was a fight in the City North last night. According to the description, it should be the Sangta Prince and that Bai Shu, and moreover, there was a girl with a broken leg hidden in that mansion.”

A flash of anger passed through Saintess Honglian’s eyes, but it quickly returned to calmness, as tranquil as the surface of undisturbed water.

”Did you find out what they were doing there? Is the girl from the Barbarian Tribe?” she asked tentatively.

”The informant’s Martial Arts were not a match for the two of them, so he didn’t dare act rashly, but he is extremely skilled at hiding and overheard some of Sangta and Bai Shu’s conversation,” said the Holy Guard.

”Bai Shu...” Saintess Honglian murmured the name softly, her thoughts unclear; the Holy Guard didn’t press on and continued.

”Sangta said that Lin Zhu is the one foretold by prophecy; he intends to marry Lin Zhu as his beast bride. Bai Shu fought with him over it, and Lin Zhu herself came out to tell Sangta to give up his hope, but Sangta declared he would definitely make Lin Zhu fall in love with him.”

A smile formed on Saintess Honglian’s lips, not the light ones as before, catching the Holy Guard off guard once again.

Realizing she had lost control of her emotions, Saintess Honglian quickly restrained her smile, returning to the serene and sacred saint, and nodded to the Holy Guard, ”Your efforts are appreciated. I will discuss this matter with the elders to decide how to deal with it.”

”Yes, then... I shall take my leave.” The Holy Guard was reluctant to go yet dared not linger, so he saluted and left.

After he was gone, Saintess Honglian gently arranged her hair with her hand, her smile turning captivating.

”This truly is good news. That Lin Zhu indeed has some skills to have caught Sangta’s eye,” Saintess Honglian murmured to herself, but soon her smile faded, and she stood up and said to the maidservant outside, ”Please invite Lady Diao Mo and Lady Jin Jing. I have matters to discuss with them.”

The Saintess always spoke courteously, and the maidservant smiled and agreed, immediately going to fetch Diao Mo and Jin Jing.

As the two entered the room, Saintess Honglian briefly recounted what the Holy Guard had reported, then looked at Diao Mo and asked, ”Why wasn’t it taken care of cleanly? How will you handle the girl still being alive?”

Diao Mo’s face turned pale, ”I will send people to take care of it immediately.”

Saintess Honglian snorted coldly, glanced at Jin Jing, and said, ”This mess is all of your making. If it weren’t for you, would we need to worry about this? You’re even older than I am; it’s time to grow up.”

Diao Mo saw Jin Jing with her head bowed, saying nothing. Her heart couldn’t bear it, and she whispered, ”Honglian, Jin Jing has also been harmed by treacherous villains. After all, she’s your sister; try to be more understanding toward her.”

Honglian glared fiercely, her eyes so vicious it seemed she could devour someone. If onlookers saw her like this, they’d surely think they had mistaken her for someone else; this was not the Saintess they knew.

”How many times have I told you not to mention this in the Holy Hall? If you want to die, go die by yourself. Don’t drag me down with you!” Honglian gritted her teeth, trying to lower her voice, but unable to suppress her anger.

Diao Mo unwittingly stepped back, bowing her head, and said, ”It was my indiscretion.”

Taking a deep breath, Honglian quickly regained her composure. She hated it when Diao Mo talked to her about Jin Jing being her sister. She found it shameful and infuriating. What was the extent of their so-called blood relation when they merely shared the same mother but had different fathers? And that Jin Jing, with her large breasts and empty brain, had been nothing but trouble since she was a child. She always thought her low-born Danliang merchant father was so impressive, which disgusted Honglian beyond words.

However, Honglian had never said such things aloud; she had learned from a young age to hide her emotions and present only her best self to others.

”Furthermore, the spies have reported that Sangta has taken a fancy to that Lin Zhu, claiming she is the one prophesied by the Barbarian Clan and even brags about wanting to take her as his beast-bride,” said Honglian, keeping her anger in check and speaking as if nothing was amiss.

”What? How could she possibly be the one prophesied by the Barbarian Clan? Is she worthy?” Diao Mo bit her lip as she spoke.

Jin Jing also sneered, her eyes full of malice, ”I always said that woman was promiscuous, a woman who’d be with anyone. She must’ve been seducing Sangta; otherwise, why would he insist on pestering her? It’s high time Bai saw her true colors.”

A look of mockery flashed in Honglian’s eyes. Her sister was really dumb, thinking that Bai Shu, who wouldn’t even deign to glance at her and had humiliated her in public, would actually be interested in her. Her sister’s unrequited longing was pathetically foolish.

Diao Mo looked towards Honglian and lowered her voice, ”Saintess, we can’t let that crippled woman go, nor can we let Lin Zhu slip away. If she gets together with Sangta and turns him against us, we’ll be in trouble.”

”Yes, Saintess, it was she who caused me to lose my leg. I beg you to help me seek revenge; I will follow your orders to the letter,” Jin Jing implored.

”Alright then, keeping her around is nothing but trouble. You two take some men and deal with that woman. I’ll think of a way to make Lin Zhu disappear without anyone noticing,” said Honglian.

Jin Jing wanted to say more, but Honglian gave her a stern look and said, ”Stop obsessing over your own resentments. Our top priority is that woman. If someone brings her forward, you’d better prepare to be burned at the stake!”

Diao Mo’s face also fell. She knew that not only would Jin Jing die, but she and Honglian would be implicated as well.

”Yes, we will seize that wretched girl at once.” Diao Mo hastily dragged Jin Jing out.

Once they were outside, Diao Mo, frustrated, said, ”Are you stupid? Can Lin Zhu even run away? The pressing matter is to suppress your issue.”

Jin Jing’s face suddenly fell into dejection, ”Does mother also think I’m a burden to you all? Does being this way make you think I’m happy?”

With an aching heart, Diao Mo touched Jin Jing’s head and said, ”Mother knows how much you’re suffering. Don’t worry; I will certainly help you get your revenge, allowing you to kill Lin Zhu with your own hands.”

Jin Jing’s face twisted vindictively, ”No, I don’t want to just kill her. Death is too easy for her. I want her to end up worse off than me, to suffer greater torment, and see if those men will still fancy her then!”
