Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 696: Chapter 698: Lady Wang Kneels Down to Admit Her Wrongdoing

But Xu Huilin quickly averted his gaze and casually said, ”They should’ve bought it by now, who knows?”

Bai Ruozhu put on a sweet smile, ”Brother, what did Chang Sheng buy?”

”Seems like it was medicinal materials, I didn’t ask for details.” Xu Huilin said as he took a piece of dimsum to eat, ”This dimsum tastes good, is it another one of your recipes, Ruozhu?”

Bai Ruozhu, knowing that he was changing the subject, smiled and said, ”No, this is a famous Jiangnan delicacy, Second Young Master, haven’t you been to Jiangnan before?”

Xu Huilin took a closer look; it really was a famous Jiangnan dessert. He had just made an offhand comment, but he didn’t expect ...

Tu Ying chuckled quietly at the side, nudged Bai Ruozhu with her elbow and whispered, ”Don’t ask anymore, he obviously has something he can’t speak of.”

Although her voice was very quiet, how could Xu Huilin not hear? He smiled wryly, knowing he shouldn’t have poked his nose into other people’s business. However, seeing Tu Ying’s mischievous smile, he felt a soft spot for her. This woman was really appealing to him.

Observing Xu Huilin pretending not to understand, Bai Ruozhu knew he and Jiang Yichun were hiding something from her, and it was Yichun who had asked him not to reveal anything.

Just when she was about to coax more out of Xu Huilin, she heard him say, ”Master will bring my senior sister to Jiangnan for her recovery in the next two days, she probably won’t be back for half a year.”

”The climate in Jiangnan is nice. It will be beneficial for Miss Wu to go there.” Bai Ruozhu smiled and replied.

Xu Huilin didn’t say anything else either. But Bai Ruozhu felt like he was hinting at something with his words. Was it a warning for her to be careful? But wasn’t Wu Wanqing seriously injured and unable to use her martial arts?

Better safe than sorry, she decided to discuss it with Jiang Yichun and be more cautious for the next few days.

The three of them sat for a while, then decided to part ways. Tu Ying’s horse had been left at the Bai Residence. Hence, she went with Bai Ruozhu in the carriage to retrieve the horse. Xu Huilin, riding on his horse, looked very dashing, though Tu Ying showed no signs of infatuation towards him.

In the horse carriage, Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but ask Tu Ying, ”Why did you have a crush on my second brother back then? He’s always so cold and he doesn’t know martial arts.”

As for appearance, her second brother was handsome, but Xu Huilin was not bad either. She believed Tu Ying wasn’t the type of person to carelessly fall for someone based on looks.

”On that day, he was debating with someone. Despite being so thin, he was talking so eloquently without any fear. Even my headstrong brother couldn’t defeat him. I, I just happened to notice him.” As a lady, Tu Ying was blushing when she spoke of this.

Bai Ruozhu chuckled quietly, so it was that simple.

”Stop laughing at me, why do you like your husband?” Asked Tu Ying curiously, ”Your husband looks even colder than serious than Bai Second Brother and he is always stern and scare.”

Bai Ruozhu pouted, ”You don’t know, he has a venomous tongue, his words are extremely bitter and annoying. I used to really hate him.”

Tu Ying couldn’t help but burst out laughing, ”Then how did you end up liking him? I heard falling for someone you hate can be a fatal affair.”

Bai Ruozhu blushed, ”He might seem unlikeable on the surface, but he is actually kind at heart. Despite his sharp tongue, he would still secretly help me. It was only after he once risked his life to save me that I understood my heart.”

Tu Ying listened and her face was full of admiration, ”If only I could meet someone who likes me, and I also feel the same for him.” Saying this, she couldn’t help but think of Bai Zepei. But Bai Zepei had made it clear; she shouldn’t have any wishful thinking.

The two of them arrived at the Bai Residence in no time. Bai Ruozhu was leading Tu Ying to the backyard to get the horse, but unexpectedly bumped into Bai Zepei, who had just returned from school. Bai Ruozhu didn’t expect her second brother to come home early and was a bit worried about the two running into each other. However, her brother acted as if nothing was wrong. He didn’t even seem to notice Tu Ying and went directly to his room to read.

Tu Ying looked somewhat downcast. She took the horse and bid Bai Ruozhu goodbye, leaving the Bai Residence.

After seeing off Tu Ying, Bai Ruozhu went directly to her second brother’s room.

”Second Brother, you should still greet someone you know, even if just as an acquaintance, right?” Bai Ruozhu asked somewhat angrily. In her point of view, her second brother was being impolite.

Bai Zepei, still holding a book and without lifting his head, said, ”Everything has been made clear. Why would I let her misinterpret and hold onto any hope, wouldn’t it be deferring Miss Tu’s future?”

Bai Ruozhu fell silent. Her second brother, who seemed heartless, was actually compassionate. If he had really been heartless, why would he care about wasting someone’s time?

”Second Brother, I met Xu Huilin today, and he seems to have feelings for Tu Ying and is pursuing her. Are you really willing to let go of her so easily for him?” She decided to provoke her second brother to see if he was really capable of moving on.

As expected, her second brother’s eyes looked a bit gloomier, but he hid his thoughts behind his lowered eyelids.

”It’s their business. You telling me is not helping, it’s more beneficial if you tell her brother, Tu Bai. He should be the one to worry about this.” He said lightly.

Bai Ruozhu made an ”Oh” sound, somewhat disappointed, and then returned to her room. She had no idea that once she left, Bai Zepei, still holding his book, started daydreaming. He didn’t turn a page for a very long time. It was clear his mind wasn’t on reading.

By dinner time, Jiang Yichun hadn’t returned yet. The Bai family started their meal on time. Not long after, knocking sounds came from the outside. A maid hurriedly rushed to open the door, only to see a strange woman standing outside, her eyes swollen from crying until they looked like small peaches.

”I am Madam Wang Dianji, I request to see your young miss.” Madam Wang’s voice sounded a bit hoarse.

The maid quickly went to inform Bai Ruozhu. Hearing the news, Bai Ruozhu stood up and said, ”Continue to eat, I’ll be back shortly.”

Since everyone was having dinner in the Main Hall, she met Madam Wang in the yard.

As soon as she appeared, Madam Wang hurriedly rushed over and fell to her knees in front of her.

”Miss Bai, I know I was wrong, please spare my family.” Madam Wang was crying as she spoke. Her tears flowed down like a shower in spring, making it hard for anyone not to pity her.

Although Cui Fan hadn’t returned yet, it could be confirmed that things had worked out and the Wang family should be fine. However, the Zhou family was now facing the danger of being thoroughly investigated.

”Why are you kneeling before me? The person you nearly caused to have a miscarriage was Madam Xie. You should be begging her forgiveness.” Bai Ruozhu replied, unamused.

”I know, I know. I’ll go to the Xie Residence to apologize later. Please, Miss Bai, show me mercy by giving me another chance.” Madam Wang pleaded amidst her sobs.

Bai Ruozhu coldly laughed. She started circling around Madam Wang, who was kneeling on the ground, and said, ”It seems like your husband’s family is ready to divorce you. If your family collapses, you really will have nowhere else to go. Why were you foolish enough to harm Madam Xie in the first place? Did you eat the heart of a bear and the gallbladder of a leopard?”

”No, they forced me...” Madam Wang suddenly screamed as if she had gone mad.
