Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 250: Chapter 250: I Will Take Responsibility

Bai Ruozhu propped Jiang Yichun up, letting his arm rest on her shoulder to support him. However, she quickly realized that this pose was incredibly intimate, almost as if Jiang Yichun was embracing her.

But now wasn’t the time to be distracted. Shaking off these strange thoughts from her mind, Bai Ruozhu helped Jiang Yichun out of the Space. She had considered escaping on her own first and then bringing Jiang Yichun out, but the Space was peculiar. She could bring people in, but once she exited, they would also come out at the same time. She and Dengdeng had tested this many times.

”We won’t get caught by those killers, right?” Bai Ruozhu asked worriedly.

Jiang Yichun shook his head slightly, ”I’m feeling better now. Even if it means risking my life, I will protect you thoroughly.”

Bai Ruozhu trembled a bit, ready to risk his life to protect her. She thought only family would treat her that way. Did he say these words out of gratitude or because he genuinely wanted to protect her?

Jiang Yichun seemed to sense Bai Ruozhu’s reaction, and he lowered his head. Did what he just say sound too...too forward?

Bai Ruozhu quickly let out a small cry, saying, ”No, I have to cover my face. What if we run into them, and they remember me and come for me and my family if they can’t get to you?”

As she said this, she found a handkerchief from her clothes and let Jiang Yichun stand properly as she covered her face.

Now, he was without a mask and she had covered her face. Bai Ruozhu ironically thought about the impermanence of life and glanced at Jiang Yichun, asking, ”You don’t have your mask, do you want to cover your face?”

Jiang Yichun nodded, ”Okay, can you help me find a cloth?”

Bai Ruozhu looked at his ragged clothes, and in the end, she tore a piece from the hem of her skirt to wrap around his face.

”Thank you.” Jiang Yichun said.

”Let’s go.” Bai Ruozhu supported him and moved forward. He could walk by himself now, so they moved a lot faster than before. After walking for a while, the sky had completely darkened. Thankfully, the moonlight illuminated the path at their feet.

Jiang Yichun’s vision was gradually recovering. He looked at Bai Ruozhu and said, ”Now I will guide you down the mountain at a faster pace, you don’t need to be afraid.”

”Oh, okay.” Bai Ruozhu agreed, only to feel like she was being swept off her feet as Jiang Yichun moved swiftly down the mountain. It felt like freefalling, instantly causing her to break out in a cold sweat.

Luckily, she bit down hard on her lip to stop herself from screaming. Lightness skill wasn’t fun at all!

Thanks to Jiang Yichun’s lightness skill, they reached the foot of the mountain very quickly. Luckily, they didn’t meet any black-clothed killers on the way. Bai Ruozhu wondered if they had given up.

Jiang Yichun stopped, saying to Bai Ruozhu, ”I won’t take you in with me. I don’t want you to be targeted by the person who tried to harm me.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded and asked, ”Where are you planning to stay? I have prepared the medicinal materials to help detoxify your poison. The poison is only suppressed for now, prolonged delay will also harm your body.”

Jiang Yichun opened his mouth, intending to say that he could detoxify himself. In the end, he said nothing.

”I won’t be returning to the County Government Office for now. There are traitors out to get me. You should go home first. I will rest for a day and then look for you.” Jiang Yichun said after some thought.

”Also, I’ve sutured the wound on your arm. I used catgut sutures. The wound should heal and the sutures should fall off naturally in about seven days or even less. Don’t ever touch those sutures, or else the wound will rupture.” At that time, doctors didn’t know about suturing techniques, so Bai Ruozhu worried that Jiang Yichun would rip the sutures.

Jiang Yichun looked at his arm with a look of surprise on his face, ”Your method is quite interesting...you stitched me up like a piece of clothing.”

Bai Ruozhu wrinkled her nose and retorted, ”You’ll know the benefits in a few days.”

Jiang Yichun took another look at her and furrowed his brows, saying, ”No, I’ll head into the city first and fetch you some clothes. You change and then go home, otherwise, you might attract suspicion.”

In her rush to save him earlier, Bai Ruozhu got a lot of his blood on her, making her look very disheveled. If the traitor saw her like this, he might grow suspicious.

Looking at Jiang Yichun’s pallid face, Bai Ruozhu felt uneasy. ”Will you be able to handle it?” she asked.

”Don’t underestimate me.” Jiang Yichun raised his eyebrow at Bai Ruozhu.

”Okay, I’ll hide here. Be careful.” Bai Ruozhu said, reminding him to be careful.

Jiang Yichun felt a bit warm in his heart. Was she worried about him?

Knowing she was in a hurry and not wanting her to get embroiled in this, he quickly turned and sprinted towards the town. When he reached the city gate, he said something to the yamen guards and they immediately let him in.

Soon, he slipped out of the city again and handed Bai Ruozhu a set of women’s clothes.

Bai Ruozhu looked at it. It was roughly the right size. She thought Jiang Yichun really has good judgement.

”Hurry and change. I’ll handle the clothes and shoes you take off.” Jiang Yichun urged. He even deliberately turned his back on her.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t think it was a big deal. She had undergarments on, and even her underwear was fairly modest, so changing wouldn’t reveal anything.

She quickly changed, but because it was past her breastfeeding time, her chest was feeling quite heavy and painful, so she couldn’t move too quickly. It took her quite a while to finish changing.

”I’m done, you need to find a place to recover. I can go into the city by myself.” Bai Ruozhu told him.

Jiang Yichun took the clothes and shoes she had taken off. Suddenly, he swayed, and Bai Ruozhu quickly reached out to steady him, asking anxiously, ”Are you okay? If not, you can rest here for a while. I’ll keep a lookout.”

Jiang Yichun’s arm was tightly gripped by Bai Ruozhu. Because she was so anxious, she had pressed his arm against her body. He felt his arm touch something warm and started blushing without realizing it.

Bai Ruozhu was completely unaware that her chest was pressed against his arm. Moreover, she was currently lactating, and the sensation was rather stimulating. No wonder Jiang Yichun started blushing.

”It’s alright, you should go home quickly, so the child doesn’t get fussy.” At the end of the day, Jiang Yichun was still thinking about Dengdeng. He was most worried about Dengdeng getting upset if he didn’t see his mother. He remembered how pitiful Dengdeng looked when he was hungry.

Bai Ruozhu saw that he was stable again, so she let go of her hold and said, ”In that case, I’ll be going first. Be careful.”

Jiang Yichun gave a nod, but then he called out to Bai Ruozhu again.

”Bai Ruozhu.....”

Bai Ruozhu stopped in her tracks and turned back to look at him, ”Is there anything else you want to mention?”

Jiang Yichun seemed to be hesitating. His pale face was flushed again.

”The dynasty does not restrict widows from remarrying. Do not worry, I will take responsibility.” He said with all his might, as if he had finally gathered the energy and determination to say it.

Bai Ruozhu was left stunned, but then she went cold. Jiang Yichun’s performance in her eyes was like a troubled reaction to responsibility and unwilling acceptance of an unavoidable decision.
