Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 236: Chapter 236: Dengdeng’s Little Lotus Root

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but laugh, ”Look at what you’re saying. Would I become a fairy? I’m either a divorcee or a widow, and I’ve had a child, who would still fancy me?”

She said it lightly, but Fusa felt uncomfortable in her heart and didn’t agree, ”This dynasty doesn’t disapprove of remarriage, there are many who’d admire your beauty and talents. I see when your hometown friend sees you laugh, his eyes curve. He might be interested in you.”

”Townmate?” Bai Ruozhu paused for a while and immediately realized that Fusa was talking about Wang Minglu. She laughed shaking her head, ”You’re misunderstanding, his sister is about to marry my older brother, our two families are relatives, so we have more interactions.”

”Oh, is that so?” Fusa scratched her face. Had she mistaken?

The two laughed and chatted for a while. Fusa had forgotten her initial purpose was to inquire about Bai Ruozhu’s relationship with the ”savior”. In a short while, she went back to her stall.

Bai Ruozhu saw that the time was almost up, so she called her family to pack up the stall. Things were as she had guessed, the Wang family wouldn’t come today, but they wouldn’t be able to escape tomorrow.

On the way home, the family was still worried about this matter. Bai Ruozhu told them about finding Wang Luji and Wang Minglu. After imitating Wang Luji’s original words, the family was finally relieved.

After returning to the West Courtyard, Bai Ruozhu put Dengdeng down, went to cook for Mr. Xie and his wife. Yu Hongxiu especially ran to the kitchen, saying she wanted to learn some techniques from Bai Ruozhu.

”You still need to learn from me, your dim sum making skills are top-notch.” Bai Ruozhu said with a smile.

”That’s not as exaggerated as you say, I’m just good at making some snacks. This is because I love to eat, so I was dedicated to learning it. But now I really regret it. I should have learned other things before, my master doesn’t like dim sum at all.” Yu Hongxiu pouted, very dissatisfied with Mr. Xie’s lack of love for dim sum.

”Most men from the north are not interested in dim sum. Isn’t it fine if you learn to cook his favorite dishes?” Bai Ruozhu said with a smile.

Yu Hongxiu nodded, ”Yeah, that’s why I came to learn from you.”

Bai Ruozhu baked chive pockets again today. Yu Hongxiu didn’t like the smell of chives. But when Bai Ruozhu finished baking, the aroma was irresistible, she couldn’t help but swallow her saliva, ”Can chives and eggs smell this good?”

Bai Ruozhu smiled, ”I also added dry shrimp shells, this is a secret trick.”

Yu Hongxiu chuckled, ”Thank you then, I have learned a new trick. Oh right, I had a meal with the county magistrate’s wife the day before yesterday. She mentioned that she hasn’t been sleeping well lately and has been having dreams. The doctor said it was nothing serious, probably because she is overly worried. I recommended you to her, told her to come and see you when she is free. You can prescribe some dietary remedies for her and make some money as well.”

”Alright, thank you.” Bai Ruozhu understood Yu Hongxiu’s intentions. Treating these wives of officials would certainly not lack rewards. Yu Hongxiu wanted to help her increase her income.

Bai Ruozhu now increasingly felt that she should earn more money. On one hand, she is a total money freak, on the other hand, she felt that in the future there will be plenty of social interactions. The money at home really couldn’t stand the spending. If there’s an emergency like rescuing Guizhi and the twenty silver liang needed urgently last time, or she does not know what large amount of expenses her second brother will have when he goes to study palace. So, the more money, the better.

The dinner was very hearty. Bai Ruozhu pointed at the Spicy Duck Blood and said to Mr. Xie: ”Mister, this is specially learned and made by the lady for you.”

Mr. Xie looked at Yu Hongxiu, his eyes were full of tenderness, Yu Hongxiu blushed and lowered her head and said, ”I just learned it from Ruozhu, I’ll make it for you often once I get the hang of it.”

”Good, good, thank you, madam.” Mr. Xie laughed, showing none of his usual pose being a scholar, completely like a silly boy.

Bai Zepei and Du Zhongshu, who were also having dinner, focused on eating and pretended not to see this scene.

After dinner, Bai Ruozhu returned to the West Courtyard. Dengdeng woke up, so she heated water ready to bathe Dengdeng. Since Dengdeng’s birth, she insisted on bathing him every day. Because the weather was hot and it was not healthy for a child to not take a bath. Now that the weather has cooled down, it has been changed to once every two days.

In the beginning, Lin Ping’er was mumbling, saying that bathing him too often would not be good, right? Bai Ruozhu smiled and explained that children have strong secretions, if they were not cleaned frequently, it would be easy to get sick. Lin Ping’er thought about it, her daughter understood medical skills, and certainly had reasons in what she said, so she didn’t say anything more.

Fang Guizhi followed Bai Ruozhu into the room to help. The two of them closed the door and chatted about private matters while bathing Dengdeng.

”I heard that the gentleman helped you take care of Dengdeng for the whole afternoon today. How do I feel that he treats you and Dengdeng differently?” Fang Guizhi said softly with a smirk on her face.

Bai Ruozhu glared at her, all these women loved gossip and loved to think wildly.

”There’s nothing like that, he probably felt that he had fate with Dengdeng, and seeing he had nothing to do, he wanted to hold him for a while. He is Dengdeng and my savior. How can I refuse?” Bai Ruozhu said and dabbled at Dengdeng’s small forehead, it seemed that this little guy liked that sharp-tongued man.

Bai Ruozhu believed that Dengdeng was still young and hadn’t seen the sharp-tongued man’s sharp-tongued power because who would talk sarcastically to a baby?

”Anyway, I feel it’s not ordinary, what do you think about that man?” Fang Guizhi stared at Bai Ruozhu with bright eyes and a look full of expectation.

”It’s not bad, that day we were at the public hall, my uncle insisted on taking Xiaosi, he hit my uncle flying with a sleeve, wow, simply handsome!” She didn’t say much to others, but she pretty much told everything to Fang Guizhi.

”What does ’handsome’ mean?” Fang Guizhi looked at Bai Ruozhu blankly.

Bai Ruozhu’s mouth twitched, pointed at Little Dengdeng, ”When he grows up, you’ll definitely think he’s handsome, that’s what it means.”

Little Dengdeng seemed to understand that Bai Ruozhu was complimenting him, so he waved his little hands and started laughing.

Bai Ruozhu lifted him from the water, placed him on a clean cloth, dried his body, and skillfully dressed him in small clothes.

Fang Guizhi probably caught a taste of it, rushed over and helped quickly, she couldn’t help but pinch Little Dengdeng’s little butt, and said, ”Your son is very cute when dressed, even more irresistible when undressed.”

Undressed and irresistible... Bai Ruozhu’s mouth twitched again, she wondered why she hadn’t noticed Guizhi’s talk being this unrestrained before.

”Look at him, looking like a lotus root, I feel like taking a bite just by looking at him.” Fang Guizhi said cheerfully.

Bai Ruozhu saw that her eyes were gleaming, she quickly sped up dressing him, otherwise her son’s fresh meat would get bitten!
