Chapter 234: Chapter 234: The Poisonous-Tongued Man Becomes a Male Nanny

Bai Ruozhu even felt that the warmth of Jiang’s breath had sprayed onto her forehead, causing a tickling sensation as if a feather had brushed against her skin. But wait, he wore a mask. How could his breath come out from his nose?

Bai Ruozhu chuckled quietly to herself, thinking she must be hallucinating. Was she so bewildered by a handsome man that she was conjuring up fantasies?

Jiang Yichun seemed just as surprised. After backing away and steadying himself, his eyes deepened, and his breathing became a bit faster. When Bai Ruozhu looked up, she finally realized that there were indeed small air holes in his mask. Due to the mask’s dark color, unless you got close, you wouldn’t notice them.

At this moment, the two were standing so close that Bai Ruozhu could see the mask’s air holes as soon as she lifted her head. Her heart began to race uncontrollably, feeling as if his warm breath could sway on to her face at any moment. This, isn’t it, a bit intimate?

Just as Bai Ruozhu’s heart was racing and her cheeks were heating up, she suddenly noticed that Jiang Yichun’s ears, a bit of his chin and his neck, all exposed from underneath his mask, were slightly pink.

Instantly, the shyness Bai Ruozhu felt evaporated. She smirked internally, finding it hilarious. ’Wow, this sharp-tongued man could actually blush! How shocking!’ She bit her lip and his amused eyes sparkled brightly, adding a touch of charm to her already beautiful face.

At this moment, Jiang Yichun internally berated himself for being hasty. It was good enough that she didn’t slap him or call him a rascal. However, when he felt extraordinarily awkward, he discovered that Bai Ruozhu was not like other girls. Not only did she not show any sign of embarrassment, she even teased him. She was quite audacious!

Jiang Yichun put his embarrassment aside and glared at Bai Ruozhu, asked, ”Do you still need my help or not? If not, I can leave.” He prepared to walk away as he spoke.

”Hey...” Bai Ruozhu called out, ’Why wouldn’t I accept help from such an expert?’

Jiang Yichun halted his steps, casting a somewhat smug look at Bai Ruozhu.

”Do you really have time? Can you take good care of my son?” Bai Ruozhu tilted her eyes, expressing disbelief in Jiang Yichun’s capabilities.

”Why not? Who made Little Dengdeng stop crying last time? Leave him with me. You can come to the County Government Office to pick him up after you close your stall.” Jiang Yichun looked at Little Dengdeng, who seemed to smile at him in return. He was clearly fond of him.

Bai Ruozhu’s lips twitched, ”No, he’ll be hungry in the afternoon.”

Although Bai Ruozhu was subtle, Jiang Yichun instantly understood what she meant – she needed to nurse the baby. Mumbling about feeding the baby in front of a stranger was a bit embarrassing. He unconsciously raised his hand to touch his nose, but it was obstructed by his rigid mask. This made him even more flustered and he wished he had asked for more details beforehand.

After a moment of silence, Jiang Yichun managed to put his embarrassment aside and said, ”So when he cries, it means he is hungry. If that happens, I’ll bring him to you immediately, and then head out to have some handmade cake.”

Bai Ruozhu thought it was a good idea, ”Alright, you better take good care of my son. Don’t let him get hurt.”

”I know, relax. I am just inside the County Government Office. I won’t abscond with your son.” Having said this, Jiang Yichun held the baby, and in a few strides, he was back in the office.

Watching his ghost-like silhouette, Bai Ruozhu was rendered speechless and mumbled, ”If he really wanted to take Little Dengdeng, there’s no need for negotiation. I wouldn’t have been able to stop him.”

Subsequently, Bai Ruozhu returned to her stall. Lin Ping Er, was surprised and asked, ”That was quick, did you take Little Dengdeng back to the West Courtyard?”

Bai Ruozhu initially didn’t want to bring up the sharp-tongued man. But considering he would bring Dengdeng to the stall later, it was better to tell her family transparently and appear open.

”I bumped into his lordship on the way. He said he particularly likes Dengdeng and wants to take care of him at the County Government Office for a while,” Bai Ruozhu stated, ”He’ll return him later, claiming he wants to have some handmade cake.”

Lin Ping Er was quite surprised at first, but then she remembered how Jiang Yichun appeased Dengdeng last time and couldn’t help but sigh, ”Dengdeng really has caught the eye of his Lordship. This child knows how to judge people. He knows that his lordship saved you two, so he always laugh when he sees him.”

”Speaking of which, maybe while he was in Ruozhu’s belly, he remembered his Lordship saving them. I’ve heard that some kids are very intelligent from a young age.” Bai Yihong laughed off the topic.

Bai Ruozhu shuddered, ’Could they be talking about transmigration while in womb?’ She was a transmigrator. But if her son was also a transmigrator, that would be quite bizarre. If an adult’s soul was in her son’s body, wouldn’t nursing him be awkward?

Bai Ruozhu decided to test this out tonight and see if her child was transmigrated, just like her.

...

In the County Government Office, Jiang Yichun paraded to the backyard with the baby. He even instructed his servant Liu Dun to fetch some toys for the child, like a toy drum and a clay figure. Unfortunately, Dengdeng was too young to hold these objects, but he clearly enjoyed trying to grab them with his little hands.

Liu Dun, who was watching dumbfoundedly, couldn’t help but ask, ”Master, whose child is this?”

Jiang Yichun, engrossed in amusing Little Dengdeng, didn’t bother to answer him. Liu Dun began to mumble to himself, ”Could this be Master’s child? Master is really incredible. He has a child even before marriage. He won’t have to worry about offspring.”

Jiang Yichun heard what he said. He paused from teasing Dengdeng, to give Liu Dun a deathly glare, ”You’ve learned to ramble now? Go to Pingjiang Town for an investigation. Do not come back if you can’t find anything.”

”Master, please no...” Liu Dun realized he made a mistake. He wished he could give himself a couple slaps. Pingjiang Town was far away from Anyuan Town and far inferior in terms of living conditions. Plus, it rained often there. He had been there once and didn’t enjoy it. The food wasn’t good and he felt like he was going to mold from the damp.

”Still not going?” Jiang Yichun glanced at him, his eyes icy.

Liu Dun shrank his neck and finally decided to obey, better to avoid a heftier punishment later.

Not long after Liu Dun left, Officer Li came to consult with Jiang Yichun about a certain matter. Upon arrival, he saw Jiang Yichun amusing the child with his mask. He felt a twitch at the corner of his mouth, ’Isn’t he afraid it will break?’

In fact, Jiang Yichun’s mask had been broken once, but he managed to fix it that same night.

”Whose beautiful child is this?” Officer Li didn’t know who the child’s parents were, but he knew praising him was the right move. After all, didn’t Jiang Yichun seem rather patient with him? This was the first time he had seen such a side of him, almost astonished enough to have his jaw drop.

Jiang Yichun hardly spared him a glance, his focus remained on the child. He said indifferently, ”It’s the child of the Bai family. I saved their lives before the child was born. So, I brought him here to play.”

Upon hearing this, Officer Li’s jaw nearly dropped again. Was Jiang Yichun ever so idle that he brought a child to play?

Or perhaps, he simply adored children. Li comforted himself with this thought. But remembering Jiang Yichun’s icy demeanor and his strict discipline, he couldn’t help but swallow, ’does he really like children?’
