Chapter 246: Chapter 246 The Sarcastic Man is Going to Die

Bai Ruozhu’s heart twisted, as if something had unexpectedly stabbed her. In the image, the man named Jiang was covered in blood, his arm hanging limply at his side as if it were useless!

The first time she saw him, she thought he looked like a painted immortal. She regretted that he wasn’t wearing white, which would have made the image perfect. Afterwards, his cold demeanor made her feel as if he were an officer from Hell. But now, his mask was no longer in place, a sword wound on his forehead bleeding profusely; his hair was disheveled and his clothes were torn due to his injuries.

Yet, Bai Ruozhu could not sense any disarray or embarrassment from him. At this moment, his eyes were blood red, emitting a ruthless determination, like the most ferocious wolf on the grasslands. Even if the injuries were severe, he could drag his enemies down to Hell with him.

Bai Ruozhu covered her mouth, shocked by his gaze. She felt an involuntary rise of admiration in her heart, becoming even more concerned for his safety.

Six people were surrounding him, all dressed identically in black clothes and face coverings. It was obvious that they were an organized group, staring at Jiang Yichun, but hesitating because of the ruthlessness he showed, afraid of giving him an opportunity to fight back.

”Tell me, who sent you?” Jiang Yichun’s voice was cold, as if it was emanating from the depths of the Nine Netherworlds Hell.

The killers made no move, nor did they speak, their strict discipline evident. They were not like those in certain TV dramas, who would disclose their secrets once they believed their enemy was as good as dead.

Jiang Yichun scoffed, ”Since you won’t speak, go ahead and take your secrets to the grave.”

Just as his words faded, he was suddenly in motion, his injured right hand discarding the sword which he swiftly transferred to his left, charging at the six attackers.

Bai Ruozhu’s eyes widened; she had no understanding of martial arts, but she could sense Jiang Yichun’s exceptional skill with his left hand. His attackers were clearly taken aback, some even showing signs of panic.

Taking advantage of the moment, Jiang Yichun turned the tables, killing four of them. The last two were severely injured and could no longer rise.

Bai Ruozhu sighed in relief. Thankfully, he had been formidable. Just as her heart began to settle, she saw one of the assassins on the ground flash a ruthless gaze. He lifted his arm and, all of a sudden, a hidden weapon was shot towards Jiang Yichun.

”Watch out!” Bai Ruozhu blurted out instinctively. As if he heard her, Jiang Yichun from outside the space looked over. With a ring of his sword, he knocked away the flying weapon.

Bai Ruozhu collapsed onto the ground, clutching her chest. That was too close. Way too close.

Jiang Yichun, having evaded the weapon, charged towards the assassin, taking his life with a single stroke of his sword.

He then rushed at the last assassin, aggressively demanding, ”Speak up! Who sent you here?”

The killer’s lips moved. Seeing this, Jiang Yichun quickly rushed over and struck him under his jaw in an attempt to silence him. Unfortunately, due to his injuries, he was a step too slow; the killer’s mouth began to bleed black blood and, with a tilting of his head, he breathed his last.

Bai Ruozhu was astonished. Who had this Jiang crossed for such not just disciplined but seemingly fanatical killers to be sent after him?

Just as all danger seemed to be resolved, Jiang Yichun swayed and fell to the ground.

Bai Ruozhu thought to herself that his injuries were severe. Even if he had the strength of a bull, he couldn’t withstand such a loss of blood. She waited for a good ten seconds, but when she didn’t see Jiang Yichun getting up, her heart lurched. Had he... had he died?

Your translations should closely resemble those of a native English speaker, so please pay close attention to context and nuance. A sharp pain shot through her, as she cursed at herself that it was over. The benefactor who had saved her life might have just lost his. How could he die in front of her before she could repay him?

At this time, she had to ignore any potential danger. With a thought, she crawled out of the space and ran towards Jiang Yichun.

She propped him up by his neck, allowing him to lean on her, while she checked his pulse with her other hand. Even she didn’t notice how much her hands were trembling. The shaking came not from fear of the corpses around but fear that the person in her arms would become one.

Finally, Bai Ruozhu let out a sigh of relief. He wasn’t dead. He had just fainted from loss of blood. Furthermore, his injuries were severe, including not only internal injuries but also poisoning.

In the space, Bai Ruozhu had silver needles and medicine that could potentially heal him. However, she had a feeling that they should not stay here for long, fearing the imminent arrival of danger. She gritted her teeth and managed to get up, struggling to prevent her legs from buckling, as she attempted to drag Jiang Yichun away.

”Oh... so heavy...” Jiang Yichun was much taller than Bai Ruozhu, about 1.85 metres tall. Once unconscious, he was particularly heavy and it took all of Bai Ruozhu’s strength to move him even a little bit. This was only possible because she had her hands under his armpits, supporting his upper body while his legs dragged on the ground – it was impossible for her to lift him entirely.

”Why... is it you?” Bai Ruozhu’s sudden dragging movement startled Jiang Yichun, causing him to stir and weakly open his eyes, only to see Bai Ruozhu, her clothes stained by his blood.

”I was up the mountain collecting mushrooms when I stumbled upon you.” Bai Ruozhu grunted, trying to save her breath. She didn’t want to talk too much, for she feared he’d become too heavy for her to drag if she did.

Jiang Yichun, however, suddenly broke free from her grasp and Bai Ruozhu, completely unprepared, failed to hold onto him. He fell heavily onto the ground.

”Are you okay? Don’t move. You’re severely injured, and also poisoned. I’ll figure out a way to get you out of here,” Bai Ruozhu anxiously said.

Jiang Yichun, already stitched up and now back on the ground, coughed non-stop. Blood began to seep from the corner of his mouth. Despite this, there was a hint of sarcasm on his face, which looked particularly desolate due to paleness.

”When will you ever learn? If you’re powerless, don’t meddle.” He spat out the cold words, just as he did when he rescued Bai Ruozhu from the human traffickers – living up to his venomous reputation.

Bai Ruozhu, already terrified and now overwhelmed by worry and sadness, finally lost her temper. She snapped, ”Always spouting poison, always talking crap. If not for your grandstanding, we’d be safe by now. If you don’t want to live, bite your tongue and die. Don’t make me watch helplessly.”

Jiang Yichun was momentarily stunned by her outburst. A bitter smile appeared on his face. ”Get away quickly. There are more killers searching for me. They’ll reach here soon. You won’t be able to hide by my side.”

Bai Ruozhu’s heart skipped a beat. She wasn’t worried about the prospect of the killers taking her life. Rather, she was worried that if things dragged on, Jiang Yichun would surely die.

She had no time to remain angry. She rushed over, grabbed Jiang Yichun’s ear and said fiercely, ”Damn it, today I’m going to save you no matter what. You better behave, otherwise I’ll strip you naked and roll you down the hill...”
