Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

The female soldiers who had returned to the team gathered and panted heavily. Their bodies were already tired, but they were excited. Their faces were drenched in sweat and flushed red, but their eyes were as bright as stars.

Captain Lei had told them to return to the brigade before 5:00 pm, and they had really done it!

The last time, they went on a 20-kilometer armed cross-country run, and they returned later than the group that went on a 30-kilometer armed cross-country run. This time, they took a shorter time than before!

The squad leader was very happy too. She smiled and praised all the female soldiers before praising Ye Jian. She knew that if Ye Jian hadn’t walked in front, it would’ve been difficult for them to return on time.

Dozens of gazes landed on the first figure in the first row in front. The female soldiers no longer looked down on her like before. They didn’t dare to do it now! They didn’t know how capable she was before this.

The squad leader who praised Ye Jian felt a little guilty. Ye Jian’s qualifications, military rank, position, and ability were higher than hers. Ye Jian should be the squad leader.

Ye Jian didn’t know what the squad leader was thinking. She saw Commander Kong standing not far away with Captain Lei accompanying him.

The female soldiers, who were in a happy state, didn’t notice them. However, after the squad leader dismissed them, they glanced at the direction where Captain Lei was standing. He was smiling at Ye Jian. ”The captain probably has something to tell you. Pass me your backpack and I’ll bring it back to the dormitory.”

”Thank you, squad leader!” Ye Jian didn’t stand on ceremony and passed the backpack over. Her voice was clear and clean. It was like a cold summer breeze brushing past the squad leader’s ears. There was no trace of fatigue in her voice.

The squad leader took the heavy backpack. The corners of her lips curled up even more. ”Why are you being so polite? You can go over first. I’m leaving.”

Commander Kong was beside Captain Lei. The commander didn’t walk over. He just stood not far away and watched, so the squad leader thought that the commander was looking for Ye Jian. There was no need for her to follow Ye Jian. She needed to be smart.

It was not until the squad leader left that Commander Kong strode over. Ye Jian strode over too. How could she stand there and wait for the commander to come over? That would be impolite.

”Little Ye, you did a good job this time! I admire you very much. Unfortunately, I missed your exciting performance in the morning. If there’s a chance next time, I must take a good look.” Commander Kong, who admired Ye Jian very much, was full of words. Which commander didn’t like a soldier as sharp as a knife?

Ye Jian heaved a sigh of relief when she heard Commander Kong’s approval. She didn’t come to the air force just for these female soldiers. She came here for herself too.

She wanted to learn more skills. She wanted to learn more and understand more. At the end of this, the biggest winner was actually herself. If Commander Kong was satisfied, she could continue staying. If Commander Kong was not satisfied, she would be letting him down. She wouldn’t be able to give herself an explanation if that were to happen.

Ye Jian looked much more relaxed now and smiled slightly. ”I’ve been in the air force for more than half a year. It’s time for me to show results. I’ll feel uneasy if I continue to waste any more resources.”

Half a year ago, in order to disguise herself, she purposely made mistakes here and there. The female soldiers hated her, and she felt that she was very annoying as well.

Now, she could finally end all her pretense and learn properly. Just thinking about it made her feel good.

Thinking that she would be able to learn more in the future, Ye Jian couldn’t help but smile. Her smile was like the sunlight that flowed across the river—clear and energetic.
