Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Fang Xin walked to the bed and glanced up. Then, the female soldiers heard her exclaim softly. They tiptoed and touched the upper berth. A surprised voice floated over from the darkness. ”There’s no one on Ye Jian’s bed. She hasn’t returned to the dormitory.”

”What?! There’s no one on the bed?” A female soldier took over the conversation in shock and took a few steps forward.

The deputy squad leader immediately turned on the lights. The dark room was lit up. Everyone’s gaze landed on Ye Jian’s bed. The blanket that was folded into a cube was placed neatly. It was obvious that Ye Jian hadn’t returned to the dormitory.

”Why isn’t she back yet? Was she pulled away by the instructors for training?” The female soldier standing with Fang Xing frowned and said, ”It’s already two in the morning. She should be back by now.”

Lu Hui, who ran to the balcony to take a look, said in a low voice, ”There’s no change of clothes for her on the balcony. She hasn’t returned to the dormitory.

”Her toothbrush and towel are dry. She didn’t come back to wash up.” Guo Cui, who was checking Ye Jian’s personal belongings, said, ”She hasn’t returned to the dormitory. Deputy, we have to go out and look for her.”

The deputy squad leader pulled open the door of the cabinet where Ye Jian’s clothes were placed and closed it. ”You guys wash up first. I’ll go and look for the squad leader. If we really decide to go out to look for her, I’ll come back and tell you.”

The squad leader got anxious when she knew that Ye Jian hadn’t returned.

”Captain Lei scolded her in front of so many soldiers. Did she do something reckless?”

”Pfft, don’t talk nonsense. Hasn’t she been scolded enough? She’s already used to it. How can she take things too hard?”

”Where is she? It’s already past two in the morning, but she hasn’t returned to the dormitory. Where did she go?”

”I suspect that she might’ve hidden somewhere to cry. Did she accidentally cry herself to sleep?”

”You sure have a vivid imagination. Let’s see what the deputy squad leader says when she comes back.”

Lu Hui listened to her comrades’ conversation and nudged Guo Cui with her elbow. She pouted at the empty bed where Ye Jian was sleeping. ”What do you think?”

”It shouldn’t be to that extent. Although Ye Jian has a dull personality and doesn’t like to talk, she’s good at resisting pressure. If not, she wouldn’t have been targeted by you.” Guo Cui analyzed calmly, and Lu Hui rolled her eyes at her. How could she say that?

However, it made sense.

”So is it just like what Tang Liyin said, she fell asleep from crying?” Lu Hui didn’t believe it herself. ”How is that possible? Something must have happened, or she should still be training. Come, let’s go to the sports ground to take a look.”

After she finished speaking, Lu Hui lifted her feet and made to move. Guo Cui pulled her back. ”Why are you in such a hurry? Let’s wait for the deputy squad leader to come back.”

Lu Hui stopped in her tracks. She was frowning so much that she was about to tie a knot. ”What if she’s upset and thinking too much? If we don’t look for her now and something really happens, everyone will be done for.”

At the mention of this, Guo Cui and the other six female soldiers’ hearts pounded furiously.

When the squad leader knew that Ye Jian didn’t come back, she thought that Ye Jian went to cry because she was scolded.

”Go to the training ground and look for her. Don’t alert the male soldiers.” The squad leader made a prompt decision. They would look for her first!

”Okay! Let’s split up and look for her!” The deputy squad leader nodded. After returning to the dormitory, she didn’t dare to bring all the female soldiers with her. She only asked Guo Cui, Lu Hui, and Fang Xing to follow her out to look for Ye Jian.

At this moment, Ye Jian was still on her way back. She would only reach the airport in about three minutes.

She followed the male soldiers out of the airport. In order to find her, the female soldiers searched for her in the dark for almost half an hour. There was no one on the sports ground, no one in the entertainment room, and no one near the cafeteria. They couldn’t think of anywhere else she might appear. When they went to look for the squad leader, they were a little flustered.

After another ten minutes, just as the squad leader decided to tell Captain Lei, Ye Jian appeared at the brightly lit dormitory door.
