Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

This ’fright’ made G3’s heart tremble.

He asked in a trembling voice, ”Are you going to tell me that you don’t plan to let her join our team?”

”Hey, don’t say that. I really thought about it just now.” Xia Jinyuan laughed until G3 felt his heart hurting.

G3 held his breath and retorted, ”Don’t make such decisions! It’s not up to you!”

”Yes, it’s not up to me. That’s why I’m just thinking about it. Putting aside my identity as a soldier, I’m just having thoughts as an ordinary man, though it’s a selfish thought.

”I’m the one who brought her along this path. If I’m afraid, who will be her backer in the future?

”I can’t be afraid. Even if I’m afraid, I have to bear with it. I can’t let her see that I’m afraid. She chased after me wholeheartedly and now wants to fight alongside me. As for me, I kept telling her that I’d wait. I can’t turn around now and tell her that I’m f*cking afraid. Heh, she’d definitely raise her hand and slap me.

”That’s why I have to bear with it. I have to tell her that she’s really brave. I have to tell her that special forces soldiers are like her. What’s there to be afraid of when we bleed? Our clothes are thick, and we can cover the blood that flows out. After resting for a few days and drinking a few bowls of soup, we can replenish what we lost.

”Yin, I’m not afraid of her bleeding. I’m just afraid… afraid that she’ll lose her life…”

His voice was weak. It was like a bubble that couldn’t be poked. The wind couldn’t blow it, and the sun couldn’t shine on it. With the slightest touch, it would shatter into pieces.

G3 felt as though his heart was pricked by thorns. He closed his eyes and buried his face in his rough palms. He rubbed his face fiercely, wanting to peel off the skin on his face.

Xia Jinyuan lowered his eyes and glanced at him. When he heard the sound of G3 rubbing his face, he nudged G3 with his elbow. ”Are you using a wire sponge to wipe your face? Will Sister-in-law still acknowledge you when we go back tomorrow?”

”Hey, I’m trying to comfort you here!” G3, whose calluses were so thick that his palms were like a wire sponge, raised his head and glared at Xia Jinyuan, who was teasing him. ”Can’t you say some nice things?”

”I was sitting down and meditating. You came over to disturb me. I haven’t even settled the score with you. Go, go, go. Don’t comfort me. Who’s patrolling tonight? Tell them to clean the toilets tomorrow.”

G3 choked. He couldn’t tell if the captain was alright.

The moment he opened his mouth, he made people choke and stutter.

It was abnormal to say that he was fine.

How could Xia Jinyuan be afraid? G3 had never seen him afraid!

It wasn’t fear. It was the most normal worry a man would have for someone he loved deeply.

Just because he was a fellow soldier, it didn’t mean he didn’t have the right to worry about his girlfriend.

Xia Jinyuan saw G3’s expression changing again and again. One moment, he looked like he was constipated, and the next moment, he looked like he was suffering from internal injuries. He raised his hand and patted G3’s shoulder. ”I think I might be sick. I might wanna seek treatment.

”One moment, I feel suffocated. The next moment, I’m sad. But now that I’ve calmed down and look back on things, I don’t think anything is wrong. I’m just messing around.

”Whether she’s afraid, bloody, or dead, I’ll accept it. As long as it’s her decision, I’ll accept it.

”Don’t worry, I won’t stop her from joining the team. She’s definitely coming to our team! In the future, when I become her captain, I want to see if Old Yang dares to hide things from me again.”

He gritted his teeth when he said the last sentence. Major General Yang, who was in the capital city, shivered inexplicably.
