The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 2268: Chapter 2268: There Is Resentment, But No Hatred

The elderly voice seemed surprised at how bluntly Carson Flores spoke, and tone was candid, sensing Carson truly meant what he said.

He genuinely thought this way!

Without understanding his own origins, his story, or clarifying everything, he would indeed simply turn away and leave, distancing himself from danger.

Such an extraordinary figure so near, for any cultivator, it would be a tremendous opportunity, yet he could ignore it completely and turn away, proving the determination and extreme caution of the other.

This kid, having encountered so much along the way and surviving, besides luck, this undoubtedly had to do with his nature.

Not everyone could refuse such seemingly advantageous divine opportunities.

”Boy, you have some guts. Fine, there’s no harm in telling you anyway. If I need your help, eventually you’ll know these things.”

The elderly voice softened a bit, beginning to narrate its own story: ”My name is Crimson Mad, originally one of the Starry Sky Magical Beasts...”

”Wait.”

Carson interrupted, asking in detail: ”Starry Sky Magical Beasts, what kind of existence is that, how do they differ from the magical beasts I’ve seen?”

The elderly voice was not bothered by Carson’s interruption and explained in detail: ”Strictly speaking, Starry Sky Magical Beasts count as Demonic Beasts, but they possess unique abilities. They absorb dark energy from the starry sky, convert it into Demonic Qi, which nourishes and strengthens them, forming a unique existence.”

”The Demonic Qi transformed by Starry Sky Magical Beasts doesn’t backfire on themselves, but the qi they release can change a world’s beast species. If they keep absorbing Demonic Qi over long periods, while they grow wildly, they also gradually lose intelligence, becoming insane monsters driven by slaughter, hence the specific term magical beasts.”

Carson’s eyes widened: ”Could it be that wherever there are magical beasts, it’s all due to you? Like you’ve created all magical beasts in this world?”

Crimson Mad replied: ”Yes, but there aren’t many Starry Sky Magical Beasts, so few worlds are affected. The Demon Race is the main group of non-human cultivators, magical beasts are just a small part of unique mutated existences.”

Carson instinctively thought of the West Prison in the Ten Thousand Immortals Domain, where Demonic Qi ran rampant and magical beasts were numerous. According to Crimson Mad, was West Prison changed because of Starry Sky Magical Beasts too?

Imagining one Starry Sky Magical Beast changing a world seems difficult, yet in a realm where cultivators easily destroy heaven and earth or erase worlds with a hand wave, changing a world is quite possible.

Moreover, for Starry Sky Magical Beasts, altering a world isn’t a matter of a day or night, it could take tens of thousands of years, even longer. Such long periods are sufficient for civilization to develop from primitive stages to the peak of science, then complete self-destruction.

Carson lamented: ”Starry Sky Magical Beasts are truly strong. Why did someone want to suppress you here?”

Crimson Mad sneered: ”Some cultivators offended me, I pursued them endlessly. Their Sect people came to aid them, I annihilated their entire Sect. The Sect belonged to his faction, naturally, he stepped in. We battled across the Star River, and I was eventually suppressed by him here with a single sword strike.”

Carson curiously asked, ”After defeating you, why didn’t he simply kill you?”

Crimson Mad laughed heartily: ”Pretending righteousness, he claimed my crimes weren’t truly my fault, not deserving of death. He said my cultivation growth wasn’t easy, thus offered me a chance for survival. If I could escape from beneath his sword, he would let the matter rest.”

Carson asked: ”If you escape, do you plan to seek revenge?”

Crimson Mad coldly laughed: ”Unless I break into the Saint Realm, otherwise what good would it do to find him? To be cut down again? Though I mock his false righteousness, his strength is real. I’m no match for him; when he cut me down, it’s just my misfortune. On the Immortal Path, survival of the fittest is not unusual.”

Carson chuckled: ”Senior, you really take it easy.”

Crimson Mad spat: ”If I didn’t, should I drive myself to despair? It’s not like I could beat him. If I become a Saint, just see if I don’t suppress him somewhere and let him experience what I endured all this time...”

Carson nodded: ”Well, senior, please continue your story.”

”I’ve told it all, nothing more to say.”

Crimson Mad grumpily grunted: ”Those ignorant kids tried capturing my child, using their Sect’s treasure. When I discovered it, I didn’t let them go. As for the rest, I couldn’t defeat him, simple as that.”

Carson uttered: ”Your child is fine?”

”Fine, I rescued them.”

Carson sighed in relief. No wonder Crimson Mad had resentment but lacked excessive hatred towards the sword’s owner.

Everyone has their stance; the sword’s owner mercifully spared Crimson Mad’s life, which is commendable.

”Alright, senior, what can I help you with then?”
