Chapter 2266: Chapter 2266: Souls Lost Beneath the Sword

Carson Flores thought of the terrifying sensation he felt earlier and couldn’t be bothered to hide anything. He directly raised his voice and shouted, ”The guest is here, is the host home?”

Carson Flores wasn’t sure if the sensation came from the Giant Sword or the terrifying presence suppressed beneath it. Regardless of the result, the presence certainly noticed him. If not, how could it drive away the beast tide just as he was about to be engulfed?

Since it didn’t want to see him die, it meant the presence was conscious and capable of communication.

As Carson’s voice resonated across the seabed, an ancient and deep voice suddenly echoed in his mind.

”Kid, if it was your true self here, would you dare to be so bold?”

Carson Flores was startled to find his incarnation was immediately seen through, which was proof enough of the terrifying nature of the presence.

Carson Flores candidly replied, ”I certainly wouldn’t dare! I’m just curious why such a massive sword appeared here, what’s the source of the Demonic Qi, so I risked my life to have a look. If it were my true self, I definitely wouldn’t have come down.”

”You are rather honest.”

The ancient voice calmly said, ”After seeing this, what are your thoughts?”

Carson Flores blinked, ”Astonishing! I never thought such a gigantic sword would be impaled in an unknown creature...”

The ancient voice asked, ”Who do you think I am, the sword or the unknown creature you mentioned?”

Carson Flores laughed, ”Do I have to answer this question?”

”Speak!”

Carson Flores answered succinctly, ”I think it’s... the latter!”

The ancient voice remained as calm as ever, without a ripple of emotion, ”Reason?”

Carson Flores explained, ”This sword shouldn’t be able to produce endless Demonic Qi. The unknown creature it pierces might be the source of this endless Demonic Qi. If it had died, no matter how large its body, it shouldn’t be able to emit so much Demonic Qi. The most likely scenario is it’s pinned here by the sword but still alive, relying on strong Life Force, thus generating a huge, continuous stream of Demonic Qi.”

The ancient voice responded after a few seconds of silence, ”You are quite clever.”

Carson Flores was not too surprised, boldly expressing his speculation, ”If I’m not mistaken, neither you nor the owner of this sword originally belonged to this realm. For some reason, you two engaged in a legendary battle here.”

”The battle ended with you being pierced by your opponent’s Giant Sword and suppressed. For some reason, your opponent didn’t completely kill you but left the sword here to continuously restrain you.”

”Your fight transformed this place into a sunken area, and the final sword strike created an unfathomable Abyss. Rainwater gradually gathered here, forming an endless ocean where you and the sword were submerged.”

”You survived. For some reason, you continuously converted or released Demonic Qi, day after day, year after year. This Demonic Qi altered the ocean, causing all creatures in the ocean to mutate, becoming fierce magical beasts.”

”The ocean water evaporated and turned to rain, repeating this cycle. Over time, all beasts in the world became magical beasts, hence why there are only magical beasts, but no cultivators.”

Carson Flores paused and smiled, ”This is just my guess. I wonder how accurate it is?”

The ancient voice snorted coldly, ”You seem unafraid of me, is it because your true self is hidden in that inconspicuous small tower?”

Carson Flores was taken aback, this was incredible.

It actually spotted the Ethereal Pagoda and uncovered the truth!

Carson Flores laughed, ”I’m not afraid because I believe you wouldn’t harm me, otherwise you would have just let those sea magical beasts devour me earlier, why bother saving me?”

The ancient voice laughed coldly, ”Then tell me, what’s the situation outside now?”

”Desolation, Barbaric Wastelands.”

Carson Flores described the situation outside, careful with his words, ”This realm has only recently been discovered by outside cultivators, who have come in to explore. Hmm, before this, there should have been another powerful figure who visited this realm...”

The ancient voice sounded surprised, ”Grand Void? You know of him?”

Carson Flores was shocked; he was just testing with a question and didn’t expect the presence truly knew Grand Void!

Carson Flores feigned surprise and asked, ”Have you met him?”

The ancient voice nodded, ”He came to this realm to explore, sensed me, and we conversed for a while...”

Carson Flores probed, ”He’s so powerful, didn’t you ask him to help you?”

The ancient voice snorted, ”He knows the owner of this sword, he doesn’t want to get involved in any causality, so he won’t rescue me from this predicament.”

Carson Flores’s mind raced, should he continue pretending to be True Sage Grand Void’s servant?

”Senior, you drove away the magical beasts and saved me; I guess it’s not just to chat with me. Is there anything I can do for you?”
