Chapter 2264: Chapter 2264: Pursuit in the Water, Life-and-Death Race

Carson Flores was very curious about the origin of this sword, and even more curious about the source of the Demonic Qi underwater.

He had an intuition that this sword was definitely related to the source of the Demonic Qi!

After some discussion, the four continued downward, each lost in their own thoughts. However, since none could move the sword, there was no need to worry about anyone turning hostile for the time being.

Virelia Jaramillo whispered, ”Why do I feel like there are many strong auras around...”

Orion Watson’s expression was grave. ”Yes, these auras don’t seem to be much weaker than that octopus.”

Wyrella Holt smiled wryly, ”If the source of the Demonic Qi in this world is truly below, then the closer we get to the source, the higher the concentration of Demonic Qi, and the more powerful the magical beasts that can survive here might be...”

Everyone felt a bit apprehensive, but no one suggested giving up. Instead, they silently continued downward. Carson saw that all three had each summoned several powerful magical treasures, which floated around them, preparing for a sudden attack or battle.

Soon, Carson also sensed those terrifying auras. They were clearly coming from incredibly powerful magical beasts. The auras’ berserk, murderous, and dark nature was very distinctive and easy to identify.

Carson could clearly feel that as they descended, in the pitch-black depths without a hint of light, numerous fierce and gigantic magical beasts, concealed by the dark waters, surrounded them, watching with intent, ready to pounce and tear them to pieces at any moment.

Carson quietly asked, ”They should be able to sense us, right? Why haven’t they attacked us?”

Orion and the others looked solemn but didn’t answer.

Even as Great Land Immortals, they felt immense pressure at the moment.

They turned to look at Carson, surprised to find that while he was asking questions, he showed no sign of panic, which surprised them.

Was it because he thought the three would protect him, or did he have some means of saving his own life?

Their descent continued, and the surrounding Demonic Qi grew denser and denser. Their Domain Powers could only extend a small area. They couldn’t transform into long rainbows and travel hundreds of miles instantly like in the sky, but could only honestly follow the giant sword downward.

Moreover, the number of powerful auras in the darkness grew with depth, and they drew nearer, like wolves surrounding prey, closing in on their target.

Just when everyone was feeling alarmed, several especially powerful auras suddenly moved, rushing towards them with great speed.

”They’re coming!”

Wyrella Holt’s expression changed drastically, and he shouted, ”What do we do?”

Orion and Virelia were equally nervous, caught in indecision.

Upward or downward?

Going up, if they focused on escaping, even if attacked in numbers, it wasn’t likely they’d be caught. But if they went further down, getting surrounded by all those powerful magical beasts could mean they wouldn’t escape from the Abyss thick with Demonic Qi.

Feeling the approach of the auras more ferocious than the earlier octopus, Orion’s eyes flickered, and finally, unable to bear the terrifying pressure, he muttered, ”Retreat now, return later.”

Both Wyrella and Virelia breathed a sigh of relief. They too felt the overwhelming pressure; it was so great they wanted to turn and run but hesitated for the sake of their dignity, and begrudgingly, in their hearts.

Now that Orion had decided, they could gracefully retreat too. After all, nothing here would leave, and they could prepare before coming back down.

The three turned and sped upward. Virelia shouted, ”Fellow Flores, retreat first... what are you doing?”

Virelia’s voice rose sharply in shock as she saw that Carson not only didn’t retreat upward but suddenly accelerated, racing further down along the sword.

Was Carson going deeper to explore?

With time of the essence, even if Orion and the others wanted to say something to stop Carson, it was too late. They passed by him and quickly fled upwards.

Carson increased his speed to the maximum, rushing downward swiftly.

The black Qi in the water was incredibly dense, greatly hindering Carson’s speed, but he didn’t give up, continuing his frantic descent.

He wanted to see what lay beneath this sword.

What was the true source of the Demonic Qi?

The magical beasts in the water instantly divided into two groups, one chasing Carson, and the other pursuing Orion and the others heading to the surface.

Carson sensed the terrifying aura behind him getting closer and closer. Nearby, more powerful auras kept approaching rapidly, joining the chase.

Though Carson couldn’t see them, he could feel countless magical beasts in pursuit behind him, converging like a monstrous wave, chasing him frantically. Any slight slow down, and they’d catch him, swallowing him instantly.

Faster!

Even faster!
