Chapter 882: Chapter 882: Windroll Banner, A Great Change to a Living Person?

Great Sects usually have a Golden Scripture Pavilion, which contains various books and Jade Slips, including all sorts of knowledge from the Cultivation Realm. Sect disciples can borrow or exchange for these resources to obtain Cultivation Techniques and enhance their insight.

Nutwood Mountain had nothing of the sort.

After Master Daxton Campbell gave the eldest senior brother the Life and Death Art, he stopped caring altogether, leaving him to comprehend it on his own for a hundred years. One day, he broke through four realms and became the first person of all time to do so.

The second senior brother, it is said, had gathered quite a few Cultivation Techniques, but he was mostly self-taught too. Later on, he traveled the world, comprehending the Cultivation Techniques of all under heaven, and eventually created the Astounding Cicada Art on his own.

The third senior sister obtained the Sword Bone Cultivation Laws and researched on her own. Even the resources required for cultivation were earned by herself slowly over time. It was undeniably a rough path.

When it came to Carson Flores, Master Daxton Campbell initially didn’t bother at all, directly leaving Delaney Hunter to take care of him. After officially becoming the master’s disciple, he was given a Purple Mist garment for protection, since his father was the Demon Emperor Heir who might come into contact with the Emperor’s Sutra Heaven Scroll. Only then did he give Carson the Emperor Scripture Human Scroll and Earth Scroll.

Guidance?

Not a single word.

As for something like the Golden Scripture Pavilion? Absolutely non-existent!

All relied on self-study!

When it came to fighting, Carson wasn’t afraid of the two women, but if it was about understanding this world, he was far behind even if he gave chase on horseback.

Shirley Miller and Samantha Tate huddled together, studying intently, and even whispered as they discussed and tried their hands at it.

After a good while, Shirley Miller looked up and said, ”This is a Windroll Banner. It’s a wonderful thing.”

A wonderful thing?

Carson’s eyes lit up. ”Tell me more about it. What does it do? I’ve fiddled with it for ages but it didn’t form any Formation, nor did it spout fire, emit poison gas. It didn’t manifest any form of attack methods...”

Shirley couldn’t help but giggle. ”It was never an attacking magical treasure in the first place; of course, it can’t manifest any attack methods.”

Carson batted his eyes. ”Then is it a Defense Treasure?”

Shirley shook her head. ”It’s not that either.”

Carson was suddenly at a loss. ”Alright, just tell me straight up, what does the Windroll Banner do?”

Shirley explained, ”It’s like a live version of a Space Ring.”

Carson’s eyes widened. ”Live? It can contain people inside?”

”Yes.”

Shirley replied, ”The Windroll Banner is actually a space magical treasure. But the space within it is different from that of a Space Ring. It’s similar to a Beast Taming Bag in some ways, except that the Beast Taming Bag is meant for Demonic Beasts, whereas the Windroll Banner is designed for humans—and only humans.”

Carson asked in surprise, ”So it can contain people inside it like a Beast Taming Bag, allowing someone to carry them around?”

”Correct!”

Shirley answered, ”You can put people inside and take them with you, but there are three crucial things to remember. First, when you put someone in the Windroll Banner, the carrier of the banner will establish a mental link with the person inside. If the other person’s mind resists, you’ll be unable to encase them in the Windroll Banner.”

Carson nodded, indicating he understood. If one could disregard the other’s will and just wrap them up and leave, then this magical treasure would be incredibly powerful.

”And what else?”

Shirley continued to explain, ”Secondly, once a person is contained within the Windroll Banner, they’ll endure the pulling force of the Void. While it’s not too severe, if they stay too long, it can injure the person, or even lead to death. Generally speaking, a person shouldn’t stay inside the Windroll Banner for more than half a day.”

Carson nodded. ”So the Windroll Banner is obviously only usable in special scenarios. After all, who wants to be stuffed in a bag for no reason? Half a day is plenty.”

Shirley smiled. ”The third point is, once you have people inside the Windroll Banner, it can’t be destroyed. If it were to be damaged, the Void Force inside would lose balance and the person inside the Windroll Banner could get seriously injured or even die.”

Carson was startled. ”It seems there are significant drawbacks too.”

Shirley smiled. ”Every advantage comes with its drawbacks. Space and time are the most profound of things. It’s normal for there to be some risk if you want to exploit them.”

Carson chuckled. ”You’d really have to trust someone completely to use this. Otherwise, if they put you inside and then destroyed the Windroll Banner, couldn’t they easily kill you?”

Shirley nodded. ”Yes, the Windroll Banner is profound and complex to make, very rare, but also not widely used. After all, cultivators seek immortality. Who in their right mind is willing to entrust their life to someone else, letting another control their fate?”

Shirley taught Carson how to use the Windroll Banner and then demonstrated it for him.

With the spell cast, the Formation Patterns on the Windroll Banner instantly lit up, and the banner itself expanded, shining brightly.

Shirley pointed at Samantha, and the Windroll Banner swooped down instantly, wrapping around her and then Samantha’s figure vanished abruptly.

The Windroll Banner glowed brightly and returned to Shirley’s hand, resuming its original size.

Carson watched with his eyes shining, exclaiming at its wonder.

Shirley grinned and waved the Windroll Banner again, which instantly enlarged. Amid the billowing flag, Samantha’s figure reappeared.

Curious, Carson asked, ”What does it feel like inside?”

Samantha replied with a giggle, ”Like a dark little room. You should try it yourself to know.”

Filled with curiosity, Carson waved his hand eagerly at Shirley. ”Come on, let me have a go.”
