The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 869: Chapter 869: Brother, do you want to do it together?

Carson Flores cradled the Water-Fire Mirror, checking its Essentia capacity, eventually looking on with distress.

”Five Elements Essentia, a single strand weighs as much as mountains, and to save our lives, I’ve just squandered at least a quarter of the stored Essentia. Such an immense amount of Five Elements Essentia, akin to smashing her with countless towering peaks—if that didn’t kill her, she’s lucky, but it’s still a painful loss.”

Samantha Tate consoled, ”Though we used it, at least we’ve escaped another calamity. Without it, we probably couldn’t have gotten away just now. That woman was so fast, her strength must be incredibly powerful.”

Carson’s face grew solemn, ”Given the force behind that single move and her speed, I feel that not even the Crimson Dragon King could best her. How could such a formidable Cultivator appear in the Valley of Death?”

The attentive Samantha Tate said, ”She mentioned that those who intrude the Valley of Death shall perish. That means, she must be part of the Valley of Death, one of its Guardians...”

Carson snapped back to reality, ”Right, that tone of speech does suggest it. How could a Human Cultivator become a Guard of the Valley of Death, and what about that middle-aged man? Why didn’t he take action to kill us?”

Samantha Tate thought for a moment and said, ”The woman in white had blood-red eyes, while the middle-aged man seemed lost and blank, but his eyes did not show the color of blood. I think the woman in white must be a Guard controlled by the Valley of Death, while that middle-aged man is not...”

Carson exclaimed with lingering fear, ”The Valley of Death really lives up to its reputation. Not to mention the ferocious Demonic Beasts and the specters, just the woman in white alone is enough to slay intruders. Who knows if there are others like her, it’s too terrifying.”

”Shall we continue heading east?”

Carson nodded, ”Now I’m even more convinced that heading east was the right choice. If I’m not mistaken, we’ve just emerged from the central region of the Valley of Death. The woman in white is a Guard, whose original intention must have been to prevent outsiders from entering...”

”If we were going deeper, she would have had no reason to fly back—she would have continued to chase us down or signal others. She returned because we’ve moved away from the central region, so we’re no longer her responsibility, and that’s why she gave up on pursuing us.”

Samantha Tate’s eyes shone, ”Does that mean we have moved away from danger?”

Carson laughed, ”We’ll know if we keep going.”

The two continued their journey eastward, encountering many Demonic Beasts along the way, all of which attacked them without a second thought.

Carson didn’t fight but simply kept on fleeing.

The Great Secret Technique proved its worth at this moment. Although the Demonic Beasts were powerful in combat, they couldn’t match Carson’s speed and were left far behind.

After all, when Carson first mastered the Ground Shrinking Technique, he was pursued by Tobias Singleton, a Cultivator at the Divinity Transformation Stage, yet he managed to kite him all the way to Jade Peak City. Now, at the Nascent Soul Stage, his understanding of the Ground Shrinking Technique even deeper, ordinary Demonic Beasts stood no chance of catching him.

A superior technique for survival indeed sets itself apart.

The two of them, leading a horde of furiously pursuing Demonic Beasts, ran wildly and flew for hundreds of miles until no more beasts chased them.

They still encountered Demonic Beasts, but these creatures now seemed to possess intelligence, no longer attacking them in a frenzied manner or relentlessly pursuing them.

”We have left the Valley of Death.”

Seeing a terror-stricken beast flee, Carson’s laugh was filled with joy, ”The beasts of the Valley of Death show no retreat or reason when dealing with outsiders, they never flee before death.”

Samantha Tate expressed her delight, ”It has been too difficult for us, first being chased by the Crimson Dragon King, then nearly perishing in the Five Elements Immortal Palace, and barely escaping only to fall into the center of the Valley of Death and face such a frightening Guardian...”

Carson laughed, ”It has indeed been dangerous and challenging, but that also shows how lucky we are, otherwise, we’d have died a thousand times over.”

Samantha Tate nodded, ”Let’s go, find a city. All I want now is to have a good bath and sleep soundly in a safe human city.”

”Let’s go!”

The pair continued flying east. Along the way, they encountered a pair of Cultivators and inquired about the nearest city, and by dusk, they finally reached a human city named Giant Wave City.

They entered the city and settled down in an inn.

A single room.

Ever since they met, Samantha Tate had always wanted to lie in bed with Carson, to chat quietly, and then to sleep soundly in his arms.

Such a simple wish, yet it had taken until this day to be fulfilled.

Even in the Five Elements Immortal Palace, with just the two of them, under the looming threat of an uncertain future, they were both intent on Cultivation, aiming to absorb as much Five Elements Essentia as possible—where was the mood for calm conversation?

The bathwater was brought into the room, filling a huge tub, steam rising.

Samantha Tate said with a mischievous smile, ”Brother, shall we bathe together?”
