The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 377: Chapter 377: A Slap_1

Carson Flores halted in his tracks, his face bearing a smile that wasn’t quite a smile.

”I can just propose anything, and you’ll agree?”

Zayne Shepherd watched as Carson Flores stopped, feeling a slight relief in his heart. It seemed that Carson Flores didn’t want to create a situation where both sides would suffer, there was still room for negotiation!

That was good news!

What Zayne Shepherd feared most was Carson Flores turning on his heel and leaving without any room for negotiation. However, if Carson Flores chose to do that, Zayne Shepherd would have had to seek help to capture Carson Flores and then figure things out.

Zayne Shepherd said sternly, ”As long as the conditions you propose aren’t excessive, we will agree to them.”

Carson Flores laughed lightly, ”Since I am to propose conditions, of course they will be excessive. You are free to disagree, you could even invite people to capture me, using life and death as leverage, right? Even though your Divine Cloudy Sect is known for being overbearing and unreasonable, void of principles, you’re still one of the three sects and four families, surely you can’t be without a single friend, right?”

By explicitly mentioning another option, Carson Flores made Zayne Shepherd even more anxious.

This fellow spoke so nonchalantly, did he have a countermeasure ready?

Did he have a powerful backer here?

Zayne Shepherd would not use such a tactic unless absolutely necessary. Forcibly taking someone was one issue; whether they could heal Rocky Stein was another. If they captured Carson Flores, would they be able to let him go?

If Carson Flores were killed, would his madcap master, Andrew, go on a frenzied rampage?

Although compared to the Divine Cloudy Sect, Andrew wasn’t much in terms of power, but he was at least a Grandmaster. If he were to employ assassination or poisoning, it would be a significant problem.

Zayne Shepherd calmed his mind and said with gravity, ”May we talk in private?”

Carson Flores replied with a smile, ”I’m not interested. After all, healing Rocky Stein will take at most an hour. If you feel like chatting here to pass the time, I have no objections.”

Zayne Shepherd’s heart sank. He glanced at the weakened and distressed Rocky Stein, knowing that to heal him today, it would likely mean losing face in front of all the southwestern sects.

Carson Flores was like a hedgehog, clearly not someone to be placated with a few soft words.

Gritting his teeth, Zayne Shepherd said, ”Fine, speak!”

”No hurry, let’s take our time. As for the first matter...”

Carson Flores extended his hand, pointing to Josephine Harrison, ”You, come here!”

Josephine Harrison’s face turned pale in an instant.

Carson Flores wanted to retaliate against her!

Josephine Harrison looked at Zayne Shepherd for help, but he remained silent. Then she turned to her great-grandmother only to find that in this instant, her great-grandmother had closed her eyes, as though she saw nothing, heard nothing.

Josephine Harrison, in desperation, clutched at Jensen Meadows’ arm and pleaded softly, ”Senior Brother...”

Jensen Meadows prised off Josephine Harrison’s hand, avoiding her gaze and spoke in a low voice, ”Go. No matter what, we need to save Elder Stein. Regardless of the insults borne, we will take our revenge a hundredfold later!”

Josephine Harrison was utterly despondent.

Her feet instinctively retreated a step backward. She wanted to flee, but before she could take a second step, Zayne Shepherd’s gaze landed on her, filled with stern warning.

Josephine Harrison’s complexion grew paler, knowing she couldn’t escape.

Josephine Harrison hesitantly moved her feet, walking towards the center of the Martial Battle Arena. However, after just a few steps, Zayne Shepherd’s low whisper came from behind her.

”Hurry up, don’t dawdle! The longer you take, the more dangerous it is for Elder Stein!”

A chill ran through Josephine Harrison’s heart, and she quickened her steps subconsciously, all the while giving herself silent encouragement.

Don’t be afraid!

With so many eyes on her, he surely couldn’t kill her, right?

At worst, it would just be an embarrassment!

Endure it!

Once he has saved Great-Grandmother, then they could capture him and tear him to pieces!

Josephine Harrison reached Carson Flores and bit her lip as she said, ”What do you want to do?”

”To teach you a lesson,” Carson Flores responded indifferently. ”Before I slap you, I want to ask you something. I clearly helped you, so why did you feel that I humiliated you, repay kindness with enmity, wanting to deal with me just because I had no name, no sect, no background? Is that why you thought you could bully me?”

Josephine Harrison’s face flushed, biting her lip without anything to say in response.

Yes, she bullied Carson Flores precisely because she saw him as a nobody who dared to ignore her, hence she wanted to put him in his place, right?

Moreover, on the train, they offered him money to leave them alone, to find another seat himself, but he refused, insisting they find a seat for him, which made her run around; perhaps that was the real reason she was annoyed with Carson Flores.

Giving you money to leave was already showing you face, and yet you had the audacity not to appreciate it?

It wasn’t until that moment Josephine Harrison finally understood her own heart, why she instinctively disliked Carson Flores and why she felt the urge to humiliate him upon their second encounter.

Who would have known this youngster, with no sect, no school, would be a Great Grandmaster?

She always thought with her Great-Grandmother’s support, bullying Carson Flores was a sure thing. But who could have predicted such a twist of fate, leading to this dire situation?

Josephine Harrison, biting her lip, apologized, ”I’m sorry.”

Carson Flores scoffed and slapped her across the face with the back of his hand.
