The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 945: Chapter 945: Without Support, Still Bullied

Recruiting disciples indiscriminately, and the stronger the better?

Never accepting disciples before, but now suddenly they do, without any particular concern about who, accepting anyone who comes?

Is it a coincidence?

Or perhaps there is another purpose?

When you suspect someone, all their actions start to seem suspicious.

But since the opportunity to recruit disciples presented itself, isn’t it the perfect time for me to go in and check whether the Three Devil Sect is indeed the culprit behind the bloodshed in Hollow Void City?

Carson Flores had originally planned to pretend to be a cultivator of weak strength, but now he didn’t bother with the pretense, and returned the Flying Sword to his spatial storage.

Aside from a Hollow Void Practitioner who was said to be in closed-door cultivation and not emerging, the Three Devil Sect had two or three at the Divinity Transformation stage, and the rest were at the Nascent Soul stage. Joining the Three Devil Sect with Nascent Soul strength should garner greater attention and more opportunities to get in touch with top-ranking members.

The middle-aged man in front had given a lengthy speech and concluded with, ”Those who wish to join the Three Devil Sect, you may now queue up.”

A long line formed immediately at the scene, after all, the Three Devil Sect was a far and widely known Alchemy Sect, and moreover, the Sect had a Hollow Void Realm practitioner as a powerful backer. Although their strength was far behind that of the top Great Sects, they were still considerably powerful.

Sects usually do not accept Loose Cultivators because they lack the sense of belonging that comes with rearing someone from the status of a common person, so such opportunities were infrequent.

Once you join the Three Devil Sect, you’re no longer a lone ghost, and you have the backing of a Sect.

Carson Flores quietly lined up, having already concocted a fake identity in his mind.

Carson observed that the Three Devil Sect’s recruitment process was quite loose, merely asking for a name and background, verifying strength, then registering and enrolling, which counted as completing the initiation screening.

The acceptance rate was 100%!

As Carson’s suspicions deepened, he wondered if a Sect’s recruitment of disciples was indeed such a lax affair, accepting anyone and everyone?

There was a problem!

Soon, it was Carson’s turn, and he answered forthrightly, ”Loose Cultivator, Conner Flores, Nascent Soul Great Perfection.”

The surrounding people cast strange looks at him, since Nascent Soul Great Perfection cultivators were already considered very strong within the Cultivation Realm. Did such a person really need to join a Sect?

Surprise flickered in the eyes of the middle-aged man doing the registration, ”Your strength is quite impressive. Why do you want to join the Three Devil Sect?”

Carson replied, ”With no Sect and no backing, even at Nascent Soul Great Perfection one still gets bullied everywhere. Furthermore, the higher one cultivates, the more cultivation resources are required. I hope to join the Three Devil Sect to gain the support of the Sect and also wish to learn the path of Alchemy, so that I can avoid taking many detours in the future.”

Carson’s words were sensible, and the middle-aged man nodded, ”Where are you from?”

Carson answered, ”Originally from Fierce Lion City, but I’ve been wandering everywhere in cultivation, with no fixed abode.”

Since he had a Beast Taming Bag with him, Carson gave Fierce Lion City as his hometown, which made the whole setup seem more plausible.

The middle-aged man made a record, then casually inquired, ”Any family left? Are there other cultivators?”

Carson replied, ”No, just me.”

The middle-aged man nodded, handed over a waist token, and said, ”Alright, this is your waist token. Wait over to the side for now. Someone will take you and the others into the Sect later.”

”Thank you!”

Carson took the waist token and moved to the group of people who had passed the screening. As soon as he joined them, a young man greeted him enthusiastically, ”Big brother, hello! My name is Kye Stein. From now on, we’ll be fellow disciples. Please take care of me.”

Carson nodded with a smile, ”Conner Flores. Let’s take care of each other.”

Admiration shone in Kye’s eyes as he said, ”Brother Lin, you look so young, and yet you’re already at Nascent Soul Great Perfection. That’s amazing. I have average talent, and after cultivating for decades, I’m only at Foundation Establishment Great Perfection. I haven’t even been able to step into Golden Core...”

Having nothing better to do, Carson casually joined the conversation, ”How did you find out about this recruitment?”

Kye replied, ”The Three Devil Sect sent out notices in many nearby cities. Lots of people came over, and today’s just the first day. I reckon more will come over time.”

Carson inquired, ”How many disciples are they planning to recruit?”

Kye shook his head, ”They say there’s no set number for recruitment. As long as one meets the criteria, they’re accepting everyone.”

Carson chuckled, ”Recruiting so many disciples at once, the Sect’s strength will grow significantly.”

Hope flickered in Kye’s gaze as he said, ”Starting today, we are disciples of the Three Devil Sect too. An increase in Sect strength is something good for us, but...”

Kye was speaking, but then suddenly stopped.

Carson focused on Kye, ”But what?”

Hesitating for a moment, perhaps intending to get on good terms with Carson, a Nascent Soul Great Perfection, Kye lowered his voice and said, ”I’ve noticed that among the disciples joining the Sect, there are quite a few with questionable character, even some who have committed numerous murders. I fear that there won’t be peace within the Sect in the future...”

Carson’s gaze sharpened slightly, ”How do you know this?”

”My family lives near Giant Fire City, and many people here are from there too. In a city’s cultivation circle, we more or less know each other.”

Kye nodded towards a fierce-looking middle-aged man in the distance and whispered, ”That guy’s named Zavier James. He massacred over a hundred people of a household just because someone offended him with their words, not exactly a kind soul...”

Carson glanced at Zavier James and his suspicions grew even stronger. If they were recruiting any riffraff, were they truly doing it for discipleship?
