The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 930: Chapter 930: An Individual’s Life is Insignificant in Its Will

”I think it must be sentient; it usually ignores me, but it has taken the initiative to intervene and save my life during life-threatening situations on two occasions,” Carson Flores explained.

This matter was not really something worth hiding, so Carson detailed cautiously, ”I have a feeling that it can sense everything happening around it and it has its own will, its own criteria to decide whether to intervene...”

Elijah White smiled and handed the Emperor Seal back to Carson. ”It has acted on your behalf twice to spare you from trouble, which means it somewhat recognizes you.”

Carson asked curiously, ”Recognizes me?”

Elijah chuckled, ”There’s something you might not know. The reason the previous Human Emperors became emperors wasn’t because they obtained the Emperor Seal or controlled the Emperor Seal, but because the Emperor Seal chose them.”

Carson’s eyes widened, ”It’s because of the Emperor Seal that someone becomes the Human Emperor?”

”Yes,” Elijah said with a smile.

Elijah continued, ”The Emperor Seal has a will of its own, and it chooses the right person to be its master, that is, the Human Emperor. Many Human Emperors have come and gone, but the Emperor Seal has remained unchanged... How did you come into possession of the Emperor Seal?”

Carson briefly explained the origin, which left Elijah chuckling, ”I’m not sure if you’ll become the Human Emperor in the future, but for now, it hasn’t abandoned you. If it feels that the world needs a Human Emperor and you don’t have the potential to be one, you would lose it.”

Carson, with widened eyes, asked, ”Like that Sky Pirate?”

Elijah laughed, ”I’m not sure about that. Perhaps it was just being lazy and uninterested, after all, the Human Race is not facing any great crisis. Whether it’s buried underground or lying in someone’s Space Ring, it’s all the same to it.”

”The first time it acted was in Giant Wave City when the Demon Race massacred the city, and the Demon Emperor Heir emerged. Perhaps it was driven by a will to protect the Human Race, or the resurgence of an old rival prompted it to wake from its slumber.”

”What was the other occasion?”

”The True Dragon Soul tried to take over my body, and it suddenly moved, directly suppressing the True Dragon Soul.”

Carson briefly explained the incident in the Secret Realm, ”I am about to gather everyone to discuss what happened inside, to prevent any future trouble, just the matter with the Emperor Seal...”

Elijah jested, ”Even True Dragons couldn’t kill you; what do you have to fear?”

Carson smiled wryly, ”Elder Brother, I’m only at the Nascent Soul Early Stage; in a real face-to-face battle, I’d be slapped to death. It was merely a fluke that I escaped with my life.”

Elijah comforted him with a smile, ”Being able to kill a True Dragon Soul and escape from another True Dragon? I might not be able to do that either. Don’t underestimate yourself. Besides, you shouldn’t worry too much, no one is going to steal your Emperor Seal...”

Carson asked in surprise, ”Why not, doesn’t everyone want to be the Human Emperor?”

Elijah chuckled, ”First, as I mentioned before, possessing the Emperor Seal doesn’t make one the Human Emperor, and second, while I’m not sure what the Emperor Seal’s standards are, anyone who would murder and steal the Emperor Seal obviously has a questionable character. How could such a person ever be recognized by the Emperor Seal?”

Carson remarked in surprise, ”Didn’t I also kill Nicholas Roth to obtain the Emperor Seal?”

Elijah explained, ”Nicholas Roth, as a Sky Pirate, was the aggressor. You were merely defending yourself. Moreover, the innate nature of those who would commit murder for treasure ensures they will never be favored by the Emperor Seal.”

”Every Human Emperor in history was a great hero, broad-hearted, caring for the Human Race, and willing to sacrifice themself for justice; only such people could be recognized by the Emperor Seal. Those with a despicable mind might physically possess the Emperor Seal, but without its recognition, it’s nothing more than a rock, utterly useless.”

”After you obtained the Emperor Seal, didn’t it remain inactive? When the Demon Race besieged the city, you could have easily fled, but you chose to fight desperately for a city that had nothing to do with you, combating a Transformative Great Demon with just your Nascent Soul strength. The Emperor Seal knows all your actions.”

”The first time the Emperor Seal acted might have been to save the people of Giant Wave City, but the second time, it was to save you. That’s why I say it has somewhat recognized you, acting to preserve your life.”

”Of course, this doesn’t mean it has acknowledged you as the new Human Emperor, but at least you’re a potential candidate. Preserving your life is just its way of continuing to observe and assess you.”

Carson was dumbfounded. ”If before this, my actions hadn’t been recognized by it, would I have died in front of it without it lifting a finger?”

Elijah laughed, ”Exactly, the purpose of the Emperor Seal is to ensure the survival of the Human Race, not to protect an individual. The life of one person is trivial in its eyes.”

Carson instinctively felt a chill, wondering if he hadn’t gained the approval of the Emperor Seal before entering the Secret Realm, would his fate have been sealed?
