The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 918: Chapter 918 Not Even a Thank You, So Rude

Carson’s words didn’t attempt to hide his animosity and guard against Bryant James.

Bryant James gritted his teeth and said, ”Don’t forget, it was I who pulled out this sword.”

Carson mocked, ”You have the nerve to say that, if it hadn’t been for you pulling it out, these people wouldn’t have died. So, what, you’re trying to take credit now?”

Bryant James’s face suddenly turned quite ugly. Strictly speaking, it wasn’t entirely his fault—after all, many had tried to pull it out, but they failed, and it just happened to be he who succeeded.

But no matter how you put it, it was he who had pulled out the sword, released the True Dragon Soul, and caused so many deaths. Had it not been for Carson’s intervention, everyone here would have died.

The gazes of everyone looking towards Bryant James now carried a hint of malice.

Even though they understood the fault wasn’t his, they couldn’t help but feel a subconscious anger.

Carson was definitely not about to let him off, continuing his mockery, ”The sword was pulled out by you, but it didn’t serve much purpose in your hands. You directly handed it over to the True Dragon Soul. If you weren’t of the Human Race, not a son of Kahdas, I would even suspect that you were in cahoots with it...”

Bryant James’s face turned an ashen color, Carson’s words like a knife fiercely stabbing into his heart, twisting up and down.

It was a pain that pierced right to his very soul!

Kash Lam brandished the Giant Sword, infused it with Spiritual Energy, and then put all his strength into a slash at the dragon bone.

Sparks flew everywhere but only left a white mark that could hardly be considered a scratch.

”This is way too hard!”

Dissatisfied, Kash Lam brandished the Giant Sword again, slashing fiercely several times, yet the result remained the same—no change.

Kash Lam sighed and handed the Black Greatsword back to Carson, ”It seems you were right. It can slay dragons because it was held by an Immortal. If it were an Immortal, Bryant James’s one slash probably would’ve killed the True Dragon Soul. But in Bryant James’s hands, it’s no different from presenting the sword...”

Bryant James, mocked by Kash Lam’s words, was instantly overflowing with a murderous aura.

He was born with an Innate Taoist Body, raised in Kahdas, and intensively cultivated. Now with powerful strength, he was a true pride of heaven. He had always been high above, so when had he ever faced such targeting, such ridicule?

Dammit, ever since he met Carson, nothing had gone smoothly!

Kash Lam was utterly fearless, continuing to taunt, ”What’s this, feeling murderous? Don’t forget, Carson is your life-saving benefactor. Without him, Lilianna Norman might have retained something, but you, with your Innate Taoist Body, would probably have turned into a puddle of blood by now...”

”Back then, you sent men to ambush Carson, and he barely escaped with his life. Today, however, it’s Carson who saved yours. Those murderous eyes of yours—are you planning to repay kindness with enmity?”

Bryant James was rendered speechless by Kash Lam’s retort because what Kash Lam said were all facts.

Now that the Black Greatsword couldn’t cut the dragon bones either, it was clear these bones couldn’t be moved. Bryant James staying here would only lead to further humiliation, so he quite decisively turned around and flew towards the passageway, ready to depart.

Kash Lam said with a grin, ”Can’t argue, so you’re running away? You were saved, and not even a word of thanks? Is a son of Kahdas really so rude?”

Bryant James’s figure paused, then continued flying towards the passageway, as if he had suddenly gone deaf to anything being said.

What could he do?

For him to say ”thank you” personally to Carson—that would be like getting slapped on one cheek by Carson and then turning the other cheek to him.

”Feels so good! Thank you, give me another slap!”

Wasn’t this more unbearable than being killed?

Carson watched with a twinge of regret; these dragon bones were excellent materials for Artifact Refining—too bad no one could move them.

Just as Carson was about to signal the Misrds State team to leave, the ceiling of the cave suddenly began showering down dust, and the ground was faintly shaking.

Carson’s expression changed, and he shouted loudly, ”This place is collapsing, run!”

Everyone, no longer interested in studying the dragon bones, rushed into the passageway, only to be surprised to find that the cold air of the Ice Cave and the flames of the Flame Cave had significantly subsided.

The crowd rushed through the Ice Cave and Flame Cave, and the fierce beasts that had once been at the mouth of the cave were nowhere to be seen.

Just as Carson and the others surged halfway into the sky, the giant cave collapsed, completely burying the chasm’s side, entirely entombing the enormous cave underground.

Everyone felt a sense of relief—it was only because of their quick actions. Had they been a bit slower, they might have been buried down there.

As they prepared to leave, a Golden Light suddenly appeared in the sky, arriving in an instant.

A young woman in her twenties, with a divine radiance around her and an air of immortality, landed at the edge of the cliff, her gaze complex as she looked towards the collapsed cave.

It was a look of both pity and relief.

Carson stared at the woman’s face, feeling it was somewhat familiar, as if he had seen her somewhere before?

Suddenly, Carson’s mind flashed with the image of the little girl’s face from within the cave.

Startled, he felt a buzzing in his head, dizzying him.

The face of this young woman was identical to that of the True Dragon Soul incarnated as a little girl!
