Three Towers Game

Chapter 1317: Chapter 417: Nightmares at the Monastery

A new challenge arrived.

As the bonfire went out, Wen Xishu and Reid stood up.

They gradually saw more clearly the figure coming from the monastery in the distance.

It was a nun, but the nun had no lower jaw.

Only a pair of eyes and half a nose; her eyes emitted a white light, making her look like a life‑reaping Evil Spirit.

Wen Xishu had never watched this particular story about the monastery.

But that didn’t matter, since the voice prompt soon appeared.

[The nun from the monastery sees that you’re entangled by Evil Spirits and invites you to the monastery for an exorcism.]

As the voice prompt ended, the nun had already appeared in front of Wen Xishu and Reid as if she had teleported.

Both of them were startled; this jawless appearance really looked like something that should be exorcised.

The nun couldn’t speak, but soon, she used her hand to write a line of blood on the ground:

”There are demons hidden in your bodies. You need to be purified. Please follow me to the monastery.”

There really was a demon hidden inside Wen Xishu’s body.

After he took the Black Coffin Blood Suit, the Ghost Groom became one of his personalities; his ultimate combat‑power form was to start a personality party and release the Ghost Groom personality while simultaneously opening the Realm of Only Me.

However, so far, Wen Xishu had yet to encounter an enemy that could push him to that point.

”It should just be an NPC’s fixed line. After all, Reid also received the invitation; it’s not targeted at me.”

Wen Xishu thought silently.

The two of them followed the nun for a while. This time, the scene did not suddenly shift, because the monastery was not far.

Soon, the two of them arrived at the place where the nuns prayed.

This was the core building of the monastery.

Inside were rows of faded wooden pews, and at the center of the great hall was a gigantic Balance. On one end of the Balance sat half a head.

The head only had the lower part: you could see the chin, mouth, and half a nose.

The other end had nothing on it.

As Wen Xishu and Reid took their seats, the nun wrote another line of words:

”Don’t open the door. No matter what you hear, don’t open the door. The ritual has already begun. If you want to survive, listen to me. Don’t open the door. The Evil Spirits outside will do everything they can to kill you. As long as you don’t open the door, you’ll pass the trial and go to the next bonfire site, and receive a blessing.”

After writing this line in blood, the nun quickly retreated to the entrance of the great hall and slowly closed the two heavy wooden doors.

The nun disappeared.

With the nun gone, the inside of the hall also appeared pitch‑black and eerie.

Reid said:

”Wh‑what... what are we supposed to do in this stage?”

Wen Xishu slowly shook his head:

”Don’t know yet. Let’s wait.”

The sky outside should have been gradually brightening, but inside the monastery it felt reversed. Wen Xishu only felt that it was getting darker and darker inside.

At this moment, a voice suddenly came from outside the door:

”Crap, that damned nun is at it again, hurting people. Friends inside, hurry up and open the door! You can’t let yourselves fall into this ritual!”

Hearing this voice, Wen Xishu seemed to understand. Was the core of this stage to distinguish truth from lies?

”The nun wants to get her jaw back! You’ll become the new sacrifices on the two ends of the Libra!”

”Hurry and open the door!”

As soon as Reid heard that, he really felt the urge to open the door.

But Wen Xishu stopped him and said softly:

”What if... the moment we came in here, there were going to be all sorts of temptations trying to make us open the door?”

This time Reid didn’t listen to Wen Xishu:

”Brother Wen, I feel something’s off... Don’t you think that nun, and this Libra in the hall, both look like some kind of evil creations?”

Wen Xishu actually thought the same.

Yes, from the moment the nun appeared, she gave off an Evil Spirit vibe—those pale pupils, the missing jaw...

No matter how you looked at it, she didn’t seem like a good person.

And without saying a word, the doors of this hall were shut... then she told them the ritual had begun.

What kind of ritual was this? Was this really not some ritual meant to harm people?

Wen Xishu had a feeling...

This stage might not be hard. In terms of survival rate, it was a fifty‑fifty chance, but in this stage he couldn’t find any clues.

He had to guess.

If he gambled that the nun was good and lost, he’d be swallowed by an evil ritual.

If he gambled that the nun was bad and chose to open the door and lost, he’d be killed by the Evil Spirits outside.

A simple and brutal fifty‑fifty choice.

Just then, Wen Xishu felt a change coming from the Balance.

On the right end of the Balance, that half head with only the lower part—the chin and mouth—began to chant some ancient spell.

Wen Xishu couldn’t understand it, but he knew the ritual had truly begun.

In this kind of environment, it was hard not to feel fear, especially since those incantations sounded like something meant to harm people.

With every syllable, Wen Xishu felt the room grow colder.

”Shit, the spell’s started! Open the door, hurry! Damn it, do you have a death wish?!”

”If that nun completes the ritual, the monsters in the monastery will be resurrected!”

Reid couldn’t take it anymore and decided to force the door open.

But soon Wen Xishu’s Shadow blocked Reid. In the darkness, his pitch‑black Shadow was almost invisible.

”Reid, don’t rush.”

Wen Xishu said calmly:

”Sometimes, the places you think are the most dangerous, the situations you think make the least sense, are actually the safest.”

Reid said:

”Brother, it’s true we’ve relied on you all this way. If I, Reid, get the chance someday, I’ll definitely repay you.”

”But think about it. You’re a suspicious person. Back in the Gourmet’s house, you used the sounds to guess that the monster’s head was facing the floor.”

”But look, the designer of that monster actually mocked your deduction by using a double‑headed freak to pre‑empt you.”
