As soon as those words left his mouth, the earth began to tremble, and the poisonous gas that had originally shrouded the city grew even thicker, the yellow-green miasma filling every corner of the city.

Gu Xi was just about to step back when he found that those yellow-green fumes were actually pushing him outward.

Only when the gas pushed Gu Xi back to the spot where he had first entered the city did a voice finally sound by his ear.

[Ding! A city has revived in front of you. You can obtain control over it!]

[A dead city belonging to a Player has been detected. Lock it as a Death City?]

”Yes!”

[Please name this city!]

Looking at the city before him wrapped in yellow-green fumes, Gu Xi thought for a moment, then finally said, ”Poisonous Peach Mountain!”

As Gu Xi finished naming the city, another wave of tremors rolled up from the ground.

This time, the tremors were completely different from before.

All the artifacts that had been sent into the city fused into the ground, and Peach Mountain along with a large number of Ghost Gates became a part of the city.

The Pea Artifacts sprouted all at once, and masses of plants began drilling up toward the surface.

Standing here, Gu Xi understood that what lay before him was the critical moment that would decide whether Poisonous Peach Mountain could pass this trial.

If Poisonous Peach Mountain couldn’t push aside the fifty meters of soil above it, then this Death City was basically useless.

Only if Poisonous Peach Mountain broke out on its own would it be the Death City Gu Xi wanted.

The Pea Vines before him were growing fast, but Gu Xi wasn’t sure how long it would take to break through fifty meters of earth. This was not the time to wait, so he turned his head and said to Kro,

”Who’s attacking us? Perfect, we’ll use them as a blood sacrifice for my New City.”

Gu Xi hadn’t even finished speaking when a boom suddenly came from underground.

All the thick soil above the city instantly collapsed, pressing Poisonous Peach Mountain deep into the earth.

All the Undead that had come out of the Ghost Gates were crushed under the soil as well.

Seeing this, Gu Xi was a bit dumbfounded.

No way, that’s it?

He’d already made it to the final step, he’d even given this new city a name; how did it just get buried like that?

While Gu Xi was still puzzling over what was going on, the yellow-green poisonous gas surged outward.

”The poison over on Brother Gu’s side just got thicker. We need to get out fast.”

Gu Xi wanted to take another look at the situation here, but Kro dragged him outward.

As they moved, Kro kept talking, ”Say, Brother Gu, do you always go this big when you mess with a city?

The archaeologists I know have nothing on you.”

”No, this was an accident. The city being buried underground is a bit...”

Halfway through his sentence, Gu Xi suddenly trailed off.

Because he’d just noticed that in his Attributes panel, under Death City, there was now an entry for Poisonous Peach Mountain—Poisonous Peach Mountain had actually already completed its conversion into a Death City.

Staring at the information before him, Gu Xi was stunned. From the panel alone, this Death City activation was a success—but where was his Poisonous Peach Mountain?

Even if it was compacted by soil, a Death City was still a Death City?

Though he couldn’t figure it out, the environment around them was no longer suitable for staying. Gu Xi quickly ran back along the path they’d come, heading for the entrance of the cave tunnel they’d just descended.

As soon as he came out, Gu Xi froze.

The scene before him gave him the feeling that after all that running around underground, he hadn’t actually accomplished anything.

From the little peak where Gu Xi emerged, looking outward at what had once been flat ground, he now saw a mountain about three hundred meters tall rising there.

Looking closer, he found that this mountain was formed from a massive peach tree mixed with earth, its surface wrapped with countless vines of all sizes.

Gu Xi quickly realized that all these vines were Pea Vines.

But before he could get closer, he noticed that at the foot of the mountain, many Pea Vines were spewing yellow-green poison outward.

Just that one glance was enough for Gu Xi to understand that when the earth had collapsed earlier, it hadn’t meant the Death City conversion had failed. Everything that had originally been inside the city had simply been flipped up to the surface.

From where he stood, Gu Xi could see that on the peach-tree-formed Peach Mountain there were many wooden buildings with purple roof tiles.

At the same time, in the corners of Peach Mountain, he could occasionally spot fields covered in fine Pea Vines.

Those Pea Vines looked thin only in comparison to the size of Peach Mountain.

If one looked closely, they’d see that the Pea Vines in the fields were as thick as an average person’s waist, and aside from peas, the vines also bore small house-like structures resembling lanterns.

If not for the fact that those little houses were pure black, decorated with things like skulls, someone might have thought this was Elf Wind.

At the very least, the Elf Gardens where Little Elves or Little Elves lived were exactly that style.

But now it was different. The skull decorations, the White Bone unearthed beneath the peach trees, and the slowly rising yellow-green poison smoke above the peach trees all made it obvious at a glance that this city had an Undead style.

Gu Xi hadn’t even finished being shocked when Kro, behind him, muttered,

”What’s going on here?”

”The city conversion succeeded.”

Kro’s words snapped Gu Xi out of his daze. He looked up at Poisonous Peach Mountain before him and said with great composure,

”This is nothing. I’ve got loads of Death Cities under my command. This doesn’t even count as a big scene.”

Because his passive mind-reading was useless on Gu Xi, Kro just gave him a doubtful look.

In the end, he felt Gu Xi was just bragging.

Just as he was about to say something, Gu Xi spoke again.

”Right, weren’t you saying there were enemies? Where are they?”

As soon as Kro heard that, he raised his hand, ready to point toward where the enemy had been.

But after he pointed, he realized something was wrong. The spot where the enemies had just been standing was originally on that flat ground, and now that area was taken up by Poisonous Peach Mountain—the enemies were gone.
