Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 1160: Chapter 1158: Even Among Beastmen, There Are Tricksters

The situation is not right.

Gu Xi, positioned on top of the Soul Summoning Tower, immediately noticed something wrong with the battle before him.

The idea of the Demon Sacrifice Camp was good.

The Fire Wall Skill was successfully burning people.

But the range of the fire wall was limited.

Wait, it’s not that the range of the fire wall is limited; the area occupied by the fire wall is actually limited.

Ordinary beastmen might die within the fire wall after only a few steps.

But it’s different for those beastmen riding on mammoths and tyrannosaurs.

These are beastmen’s war chariot units.

On the surface, they seem like a single combat unit, but actually, there are at least thirty or forty beastmen on them.

Even if such units catch fire, they can still rampage a few steps with the flames.

If they charged towards the Demon Sacrifice Camp, it wouldn’t be too bad, as the camp is performing the magic ceremony for the Fire Wall Skill over there, and the situation could still be controlled.

The greatest fear is that these beastmen would not rush towards the Demon Sacrifice Camp but instead bring the flames to the battlefield.

That would be difficult to control.

In a battlefield, the strategies of water and fire are the strongest, but also the hardest to control.

Water strategy requires controlling the direction of water flow impact, while fire strategy needs to occupy an advantageous position; otherwise, it might burn one’s own troops.

One must not act recklessly, or one’s own troops could be lost.

That’s exactly the situation at hand.

If those beastmen’s giant units that weren’t burned to death charged to other battlefield locations, they would definitely ignite a large battlefield fire.

Ultimately, a large number of Gu Xi’s troops would also be burned to death.

So, facing such circumstances, Gu Xi immediately issued an order.

”Black Dragon Camp, do you hear me? Free point shooting, attack the enemies affected by the Fire Wall Skill, and kill all those trying to escape! Don’t let them get out!”

The Undead Shooter Team of the Black Dragon Camp had already been deployed.

However, as they were a shooter team, they had always been stationed near the Garrison Gate.

Only when the enemy approached a certain distance to the battlefield would they attack under the command of the hero.

Enemies that were farther away, they wouldn’t engage.

But now, with Gu Xi’s order, the undead shooters of the Black Dragon Camp quickly started to attack the mammoths and tyrannosaurs charging from the fire wall.

These creatures are relatively large, considered the best units among beastmen for focusing fire.

Often, under a wave of rain of arrows, the mammoth would collapse to the ground.

The life force of the tyrannosaurus might be a bit stronger, but still quite limited.

At most, after two waves of concentrated fire rain, it could be killed.

Thus, the mammoths and tyrannosaurs trying to charge away fell close to the fire wall.

This managed to prevent disruption on the battlefield.

Seeing the battlefield order being maintained, Gu Xi finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Kro, however, commented: ”Brother Gu, I didn’t quite understand your command earlier; clearly, your magic corps down below already attracted all the beastmen.

Why did you intervene in this battle?”

”You might not be aware of this; the battlefield can be chaotic, but the chaos must be controllable for me.

Uncontrollable chaos will lead to the collapse of the battlefield.

Troops sent out but cannot be recalled are equivalent to having no troops; look, the beastmen leader has the same idea.

No matter how chaotic the battlefield gets, they always maintain two powerful units at hand.

This is their final line...

Wait, what are they doing?”

Gu Xi was going to use the two thousand troops left by the beastmen leader as an example to explain the battlefield situation to Kro.

But just as he looked over, he realized there was an issue with the battle situation on Amirka’s side.

At first, Gu Xi thought the two thousand troops left in the beastmen leader’s main formation were their most elite units.

After all, Gu Xi himself did this.

He kept the most elite troops as a reserve force.

When he couldn’t control the battlefield situation, he would deploy them.

But he never expected beastmen to differ from the undead.

The undead are extremely obedient; they act according to arrangements.

But beastmen aren’t like that.

The stronger the beastman, the harder it is to control them; getting them to lie in ambush took a lot of effort from the beastman leader himself.

So, as the battle started, the strongest units in the beastmen forces had already charged out.

The two thousand troops here were actually peculiar among beastmen; they weren’t individual beastmen.

They were beastmen’s hard labor squads, somewhat similar to Gu Xi’s Ghost Squad.

Yes, like those White Impermanences Gu Xi used to bluff and deceive.

These beastmen’s hard labor squads are similar in that they replenish personnel slowly while standing still, maintaining their numbers at a thousand.

Though appearing as a two thousand strong legion, they are essentially two people.

Just like the joke about the eighteen hundred thousand Imperial Guards, there are only two guards, one named Ten Thousand, the other Eight Thousand.

Later, beastman chieftain got a unit skin, making beastmen more magnificent and powerful, and formed a plan.

Normally, the beastman chieftain kept these two near him.

During battles, they were scene fillers, and after battles, they cleaned up the field.

The beastman chieftain had used this tactic many times before, deceiving many.

Gu Xi didn’t expect to encounter this situation; he hadn’t used White Impermanence for intimidation for ages.

This time, however, Gu Xi sent Amirka out.

Amirka’s attacks never considered enemy numbers.

To him, the two thousand enemies were nothing.

He felt a single charge could take them out, so he led the Aurora Knight Order forth.

But he couldn’t have anticipated.

His concentrated attack seemed to hit thin air.

The two thousand formation vanished upon impact.

He rushed head-on towards the beastman chieftain.

Gu Xi looked at the battlefield and witnessed these very events.

Seeing it unfold, Gu Xi was somewhat puzzled about what he was fighting for all along.

If he had known those foes were so weak, he should have immediately sent troops to the beastmen’s main formation and killed the beastman leader.

Now, though, it doesn’t matter anymore; Gu Xi raised his head in resignation.

And right then, he saw Amirka leading his troops to crash into the beastman chieftain’s Bone Horse Carriage.

The beastman chieftain wielded his weapon and engaged in battle with Amirka.

”Alright, this battle is about to wrap up, Converted Undead Combat Squad, launch the attack, Bone Dragon take flight, prevent the enemy’s final counterattack, hurry, act swiftly, don’t let those brainless beastmen pull off a comeback.”
