Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 1192: Chapter 1190: The Dead City

Traveling swiftly, Gu Xi reached the city ruins Kro talked about in just two days and one night.

As soon as the Holy Silver Evil Coffin stopped, Kro jumped down immediately.

He looked up at a big tree on a nearby mountain peak and used the sunlight to confirm the current time and position.

He then nodded affirmatively.

”There’s no mistake, it’s here.”

Looking at the empty ground in front of him, Gu Xi spoke with some speechlessness.

”Kro, did you guys fill the earth back after your archaeological dig?”

”How could we? Who would fill the earth back after an archaeological dig? However, I’m not like you, who can casually dispatch a troop to dig open the earth.

I usually conduct archaeology alone and don’t have the strength to dig down.

I generally determine the strata and then dig a hole downwards...”

”A thief hole?”

Kro was a bit speechless upon hearing this, ”I’m doing archaeology, not tomb robbing, okay.”

Though he said this, Kro still led Gu Xi toward the foot of a nearby mountain.

”I’ve always remembered the location. It’s right at this mountain summit. See the trees on the mountain? If you point down along the trees, you’ll see a stone, you see it, that stone.

Both the tree and stone are ones I’ve relocated, generally, no one would deliberately move these things again.

So as long as the position is confirmed, it’s not easy to go wrong.

Look again at the straight line between the tree and the stone, what do you see?”

Gu Xi looked closely and then he discovered that indeed there was a spot between the tree and the stone where the vegetation grew differently.

”Are the plants there newly planted?”

”Ah hahaha, seems you’ve been fooled too. The position is slightly upwards, Brother Gu, follow me.”

Kro led Gu Xi up the mountain.

As they climbed, he introduced to Gu Xi.

”The vegetation here looks noticeably different because the path to that city is a bit further up.

When it rains, the water flows down from the mountain and seeps part of it into the passage here.

When the skies clear, the vegetation here lacks retained water, so its growth is naturally slower.

We’ve arrived, right here.”

Taking Gu Xi to the hidden spot, Kro exerted force and lifted a stone slab from beneath the soil, revealing a dark passage below.

Gu Xi leaned forward to inspect the area, and felt gusts of chilly wind blowing upward, indicating the Yin Qi below was quite heavy.

If Kro hadn’t assured him that a city lay below, Gu Xi might have thought this was a Ghost King’s grave.

”Is that city directly beneath this mountain?”

Gu Xi did not go down immediately; instead, he raised his hand and opened the city gate, releasing a Ghost Squad and numerous ghosts down the passage, simultaneously inquiring Kro about the city’s situation down below.

After all, Kro mentioned this was the city ruins. ℴℴ𝘮

But here it seemed like a city buried deep underground.

Where the city’s circumstances are uncertain, the information from Kro, who had previously conducted archaeology in this city, becomes quite important.

”No, this is an existing passage. I know you have Pathfinding Skill, and I actually possess some Pathfinding Skill as well.

However, my Pathfinding Skill is somewhat different from yours as it includes archaeological capabilities.

This city is buried about fifty meters beneath that earth.”

As Kro spoke, he gestured toward the mountain.

Gu Xi noticed the position Kro pointed at was where they stood earlier.

Upon hearing Kro’s data, Gu Xi understood why Kro chose to make such a detour, descending from the mountainside.

If Kro were alone digging downwards, fifty meters of thick soil, plus unpredictable circumstances, would certainly exhaust him.

On the contrary, Kro’s Pathfinding Skill in archaeology connected to the passage below, even if parts of it might collapse, it can simply be excavated.

Isn’t this simpler than digging downward fifty meters from the top?

Gu Xi can understand Kro’s situation, but there’s no need to handle it accordingly.

Kro alone can’t dig down, but Gu Xi is different. Gu Xi only needs to place the city gate and can excavate the underground city in a day.

Previously, when Gu Xi conquered that Death City, it resulted in a deep pit on the surface and a large amount of black ash that couldn’t be taken away because the opponent’s Death City was too far from Gu Xi’s Yalidov City.

But it’s different now.

Now Gu Xi can place the Yalidov City gate here at any time.

His undead underlings won’t tire; they can just continue digging.

Gu Xi’s current task is to wait for the undead sent to explore to return with some reports.

If below is relatively safe, Gu Xi might best personally go down and look.

After all, these city ruins might serve as a Death City.

If the origin of this city isn’t investigated thoroughly, Gu Xi fears that bringing back a Death City might instead hinder his development.

While waiting on the cavernous passage above, a White Impermanence flew up from below.

Gu Xi realized immediately that below was relatively safe, so he said to Kro: ”Shall we go down and take a look?”

Upon hearing this, Kro carried various tools and headed down.

Gu Xi noticed that Kro had many different tools on him.

Even while preparing to enter the cave, Kro didn’t need to take action, simply took a mask and put it on, covering his mouth and nose, and even eyes were protected.

Then he took out a collapsible helmet, wore it on his head, and attached a headlamp.

After completing all preparations, Kro walked ahead of Gu Xi and descended together.

Gu Xi didn’t have so much preparation, he was still carrying those things, only switching to Pathfinding Skill status as he went down.

In such a way, no matter how difficult the path, it wouldn’t be a problem for Gu Xi.

Under Kro’s lead, Gu Xi quickly reached the location of the underground city.

As they approached this underground city ruins, Gu Xi couldn’t help but admire the city’s situation.

Although this is an Elf Gathering Point buried under volcanic ash.

All in sight were red soil, black stones, and yellow sulfur, but the shape of the original city still remained.

Gu Xi could still see some charred wood excavated.

However, what gave Gu Xi the strongest feeling about this city wasn’t the nasty smell, but a weighty sense of oppression.

Standing at the city’s entrance, Gu Xi felt as if once he stepped in, he would be entirely buried by someone.

Gu Xi thought seriously for a moment and turned to Kro.

”Can I bring a few people to have a look?”
