Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 74: Chapter 72: Fierce Battle Against the Bone Dragon

Ding!

When the zombie’s kitchen knife struck the bone dragon, it unexpectedly made a sound like metal clashing.

This gave Gu Xi quite a fright. The bones of the bone dragon in the black mist had actually become metallized; such a defense was beyond Gu Xi’s imagination.

Gu Xi originally thought, seeing the bone dragon emerging from the black mist, that its body was also mist-like, never expecting it to have metal defense.

”Hold him off.”

Gu Xi knew at a glance that this type of enemy required full effort to be drawn out and worn down in battle.

They couldn’t suppress all their forces at once, nor could they let the bone dragon fly up or unleash a big move.

Otherwise, with the current forces under Gu Xi, they likely wouldn’t withstand even a single wave of the bone dragon’s attack.

”Luna, have the Ghost ready. If there’s any chance of the bone dragon taking off, send the Ghost up to bring him down.”

”Alright.” Luna didn’t say another word and immediately went down to prepare.

Meanwhile, Gu Xi commanded the newly acquired skeleton shooters to launch a long-range attack on the bone dragon.

At this moment, Gu Xi somewhat regretted not waiting a bit longer.

Now, Yalidu City could generate 500 points of Negative Energy daily. Waiting a few more days and converting more skeletons into skeleton shooters could substantially increase their combat power.

Thinking this, Gu Xi kept an eye on the battlefield. After issuing new orders, the black bone dragon was forcibly kept grounded, incapable of flying to fight.

Yet, even so, the combat power of the black bone dragon before them was terrifyingly high.

Often, with just a single tail swipe from the black bone dragon, three to four skeleton soldiers would die.

The attacks from Gu Xi’s skeleton soldiers on the black bone dragon barely caused any damage to it.

This worried Gu Xi, thinking that his forces were insufficient.

Thankfully, at this time, Shaya suddenly emerged from her invisible status.

With a swift movement, she leaped onto the black bone dragon’s head, daggers in both hands, searching for a spot to slice through.

Gu Xi knew Shaya had the Eye of Omniscience, a means to see through enemy weak points. Now she was seeking the bone dragon’s weak spot, their only opportunity to defeat it.

Because of this, when Shaya went up, Gu Xi and Luna rapidly changed their tactics from proactive attack to actively drawing the bone dragon’s attention.

The minimum they needed was for Shaya to have a chance to find the enemy’s weak point.

Their actions were quite successful; the bone dragon didn’t notice Shaya’s upward movement at all and was instead engrossed with Gu Xi’s skeleton soldiers, focusing all its attention on Combat Squad 3’s skeleton soldiers.

These skeleton soldiers, wielding sword and shield, kept beating on their shields while retreating.

Their retreat was not a withdrawal but a orderly step back.

Each engagement involved three to five skeleton soldiers with the bone dragon at a time; whether they retreated or died, any vacancy was promptly filled by new skeleton soldiers.

By relying on such a strategy, Gu Xi’s skeleton soldiers managed to keep the bone dragon’s attention so it didn’t notice Shaya on its back.

At the same time, Luna maintained a similar approach. She no longer used wide-scale attack methods on the bone dragon, opting instead for Touch of Frost.

Another ten ghosts hovered in the sky, ready to descend into the bone dragon’s eyes if it attempted to fly, bringing it back to the ground.

The bone dragon’s combat power was not weak, but its attack methods were consistently physical attacks, often failing against the Ghost’s body.

This resulted in minimal losses for the Ghost.

Seeing that neither the Ghost nor the skeleton soldiers could restrain the bone dragon, Gu Xi was preparing to advance when Shaya’s body suddenly straightened.

”Found it.”

Gu Xi immediately understood the situation before him.

Shaya had found the bone dragon’s weak point.

”Luna!”

Luna quickly grasped Gu Xi’s intent and, alongside Gu Xi, charged towards the bone dragon, while all the skeleton soldiers launched attacks on the bone dragon to attract its final attention.

Observing Gu Xi initiating a full assault at this moment, the bone dragon was somewhat taken aback, but seeing Gu Xi charge forward, it no longer concealed its strength. This bone dragon lifted its head, opened its mouth, and a green light began to form in its mouth.

This attack had been long intended by the bone dragon, but such a powerful attack could only be used once a day. Although it had a broad range, it was also very consuming; after using it, the bone dragon could only rely on its tail and claws for further attacks.

It had been waiting for Gu Xi’s attack method.

Seeing Gu Xi charging forth now, it realized that Gu Xi had no other tricks left and deemed it safe to attack.

But just as the bone dragon lifted its head, Shaya on its back suddenly moved, slicing into a location on the bone dragon’s spine with her dagger.

Despite the bone dragon’s iron-like bones, its joint areas weren’t as hard as imagined. For movement, negative energy had been infused at these joints to allow for flexibility.

This negative energy is what enabled the bone dragon to take flight.

Shaya had pinpointed one such node connected to this negative energy.

These nodes were abundant, totaling seven on the bone dragon’s body, though the rest of them were at critical spots. Only this one node continuously moved about the dragon’s body.

As the bone dragon lifted its head, it inadvertently exposed this node.

Shaya’s stab was like a hot knife cutting through butter, directly slicing through the node.

At this moment, the bone dragon was in the middle of elevating its head, preparing to breathe down on where Gu Xi stood. Shaya’s strike severed the negative energy uniting the bone dragon.

The lifted dragon head shuddered, and all the bones crumbled and fell heavily to the ground as if it had been dismantled.

Simultaneously, the green glow within the dragon’s mouth disappeared entirely.

Seeing the bone dragon’s head fall, Gu Xi seized the opportunity, rapidly advancing, smashing the Shattering Staff heavily onto the dragon’s head location.

Boom!

Gu Xi’s strike was full-force, with the Shattering Staff’s effect activating precisely, heavily denting the black metallic-like bone dragon’s bones.

At this moment, the bone dragon’s negative energy began to regroup, attempting to reconstruct the scattered bone fragments into a bone dragon once more.

But by then, Luna had already arrived by the bone dragon’s side. Initially, when the bone dragon fell apart, all its negative energy nodes were exposed. Luna struck at one of these nodes with her Touch of Frost.

The infusion of the Power of Ice rapidly slowed the flow of negative energy, significantly delaying the bone dragon’s body recombination.

Gu Xi quickly realized what was happening and decisively ordered, ”Drag those bones apart for me, all of them.”
