Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

Under Zhang Yi’s persuasion, Zhou Haimei still took the girls from the household out to have fun.

Lu Keran was somewhat hesitant. She felt that at a time like this, she should stay by Zhang Yi’s side. Even if she couldn’t share his burdens, companionship was the most enduring form of protection.

However, Zhou Haimei leaned close to her ear and said, ”Us staying won’t be of any help and would only make Zhang Yi feel guilty. It’s better to go out for a stroll as he wishes; that will make him feel better.”

Only then did Lu Keran understand. She followed Zhou Haimei, and the group left, chatting and laughing.

Men are creatures who talk tough.

Zhang Yi said he didn’t care about face, but only because he wouldn’t take unnecessary risks for the sake of it.

However, having promised to bring his family here for fun, only to be publicly provoked upon arriving in Shengjing, his mood was certainly far from pleasant.

At a time like this, what he needed wasn’t comfort from his family, but trust.

The women in the household were all very smart, so they all left the villa. Only Zhang Yi and Deng Shentong remained.

Fatty Xu had absolutely no interest in going out to see the sights. He simply took his game console, went outside, found a large red courtyard pillar to sit beside, and focused intently on clearing the levels.

He was playing so absorbed that he didn’t notice someone appearing behind him at some point.

Li Yangyang stood behind him, looking down, her gaze fixed intently on him—or rather, on the game console in his hands.

A long time passed like this. Suddenly, Fatty Xu’s game console screen went black.

Fatty Xu’s face flushed with anger. ”Ahhhh! I could have cleared it this time! Why is it out of battery!”

”The Northern Regions are much colder than the south. Even with a thermal protective case, you still need a backup power source.”

A gentle voice sounded behind Fatty Xu, followed by a hand in a white glove holding out a power bank in front of him.

Fatty Xu turned his head in surprise and saw the estate’s female steward, Li Yangyang, smiling as she stood behind him.

Her smile was so beautiful, far more beautiful than the female technicians in Blizzard City.

In all his life, this was the first time Fatty Xu had been this close to such a beautiful woman who wasn’t a massage technician.

Especially her eyes, which looked at him with a gentle and sincere warmth—in comparison, the girls in Blizzard City’s eyes held only technique, devoid of any genuine feeling.

Fatty Xu was momentarily speechless, even forgetting to take the power bank.

Li Yangyang pursed her lips slightly. ”What’s wrong? Don’t you want to use mine?”

She shook the power bank in her hand, reminding Fatty Xu.

”Ah... oh, oh, oh! Thank you! Thank you!”

Flustered, Fatty Xu reached out and carefully took the power bank, careful not to touch her hand.

After all, if someone like him touched her hand, she would probably be disgusted.

Li Yangyang said with a smile, ”I never thought I’d see someone playing Zelda here. To be honest, I’m a bit surprised!”

Fatty Xu stiffened. He looked at Li Yangyang in astonishment, unable to believe that the beauty before him actually knew about Zelda!

”You... how do you know about it?”

Li Yangyang blinked, then mysteriously reached into her thermal undergarments and slowly pulled out a Switch.

”Actually, I really like playing games too!”

Her face slightly flushed, she held the Switch in front of her face. ”As a member of the Shengjing Region’s Dragon’s Roar Guards, being in my twenties and still liking to play games is actually something quite hard to admit to others.”

”But it’s really wonderful to meet a like-minded person here!”

She gave a gentle smile, like the sunshine of March, instantly melting Fatty Xu’s heart.

At that moment, he felt he had fallen in love.

The words he had said to Zhang Yi not long ago instantly became worthless nonsense in his own mind.

...

Among the five invited regions, four had already arrived.

One region was late in coming: the distant Southwest Region.

Shang Daowen had been waiting for their arrival all along.

The time approached noon, and there was still no news of their arrival, which began to stir feelings of dissatisfaction among some members of the Dragon’s Roar Guards.

”The Southwest Region sure has some nerve! Although they are far from here, taking a plane would only take an hour or two. Why are they dragging it out until now?”

”Could it be they are deliberately trying to show the Shengjing Region who’s boss?”

Someone nearby stopped them.

”Shh, don’t talk nonsense if you don’t know!”

He took a deep breath and looked into the distance with a grave expression.

”The situation in the Southwest Region is different from other places. The power dynamics there are intricate and complex.”

The few Dragon’s Roar Guards around looked at each other and shook their heads helplessly.

The mysterious Southwest Region had always been rarely mentioned, whether on television or in newspapers; reports about it were scarce.

And after the Apocalypse, what exactly the situation was like there, they knew even less.

It was almost noon when the Dragon’s Roar Guards finally received intel.

The representatives of the Southwest Region had arrived!

Upon hearing this, Shang Daowen asked, ”Who has come this time? Is it their Tantric Dharma Protector, the Lord of the Charnel Ground? Or which one of the four great chieftain families of the Southwest?”

The subordinate officer reported, ”According to the Southwest Region, the Lord of the Charnel Ground is currently in deep cultivation at the Sangha Monastery. Therefore, the representative who came this time is the head of the Pagyi Family, Pagyi Gele.”

Hearing that the Southwest Region’s Lord of the Charnel Ground had not come, Shang Daowen slightly raised an eyebrow.

With no Epsilon-level arrival, the coming of others might only signify a gesture.

Moreover, the one who came wasn’t from the first great chieftain family, the Yasha Langtai Family, but the second-largest, the Pagyi Family.

This indicated that the Southwest Region did not place great importance on Shengjing’s summons this time.

But this was understandable. The situation in the Southwest Region was the most complex in the entire Huaxu Kingdom. Moreover, after the Apocalypse, a theocratic system had formed locally, and the Shengjing Region had no means to intervene.

”Go and receive them!”

Shang Daowen said.

The Dragon’s Roar Guards immediately led a team to receive them. Through satellite equipment, they saw the representatives from the distant Southwest Region.

However, even for this veteran unit of the Shengjing Region, they couldn’t help but be dumbfounded when they saw the other party’s procession.

It was an incredibly massive motorcade, a grand procession of over a hundred heavily modified massive snow vehicles.

Each vehicle was twice the size of a heavy-duty truck, practically like moving houses.

These moving houses were all in the traditional style of the Southwest Region, with high canopies, predominantly red and yellow, displaying nobility and extreme luxury.

At that moment, even Shang Daowen couldn’t help but take a sharp breath of the cold Northern air.

”No wonder they arrived so late.”

With such a motorcade, it would be strange if they could move fast!

It wasn’t that the Southwest Region lacked advanced transportation, but for those chieftains who were excessively extravagant, obsessed with pleasure and displaying power, this method was clearly more to their liking.
