Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

Zhang Yi’s gaze turned serious.

He knew that what was coming would eventually come. The peace following the apocalypse could never have lasted forever.

In these past six months, aside from the trouble brought by the Dragon King, their Tianhai City hadn’t experienced any other major disturbances.

However, throughout the rest of the Jiangnan Region, incidents still occurred frequently.

Then again, the reason Tianhai City remained peaceful was simply because Zhang Yi’s strength was sufficient.

Otherwise, if the Dragon King hadn’t come seeking revenge against him but had instead wreaked havoc in other areas of the Jiangnan Region,

the entire region would likely have been thrown into utter chaos.

Zhang Yi answered Zhu Zheng’s call.

A projection of Zhu Zheng appeared in mid-air. The old codger’s graying hair was slicked back with pomade into a neat side part, and he sat behind his desk with a beaming smile.

”Zhang Yi, long time no see. How have you been lately?”

”Same as always. Commander Zhu, you wouldn’t visit the temple without a reason. What brings you to me this time?”

Zhang Yi asked directly.

Zhu Zheng chuckled. ”Seems you know me well. If it weren’t for a special event, I wouldn’t be contacting you.”

”Can you come to Blizzard City? There’s a very important matter I must discuss with you face-to-face.”

Zhang Yi asked, ”What matter can’t be discussed over the phone?”

Zhu Zheng’s tone grew heavy, his expression turning several degrees more serious. ”It’s an extremely, extremely urgent matter!”

Zhang Yi knew Zhu Zheng wasn’t the type to joke around.

He thought for a moment and replied, ”I’ll be there shortly.”

Zhu Zheng nodded. ”Good. I’ve already arranged a special train to wait for you in Tianhai City.”

”That won’t be necessary. I have my own vehicle.”

Zhu Zheng sounded somewhat surprised but still nodded. ”Alright then. I’ll await your arrival.”

After ending the call, Zhang Yi immediately went to find Yang Xinxin, who was playing mahjong.

When the call came through, she appeared to be focused on shuffling the tiles, but in reality, her ears were already secretly listening to the conversation.

”Was that Zhu Zheng looking for you?”

Zhang Yi said, ”He says there’s an important matter he needs me to come discuss. Xinxin, come with me this time.”

Worried expressions appeared on the faces of Zhou Ke’er, Yang Siya, and the others.

”When he looks for you, it’s never good news.”

Zhang Yi smiled. ”The feeling is mutual between us. Let’s first go see what he has to say.”

Yang Xinxin stood up. ”Alright then. Let me go change my clothes first.”

Yang Xinxin went to change into a new set of combat gear.

This was crafted by Lu Keran’s hands, incorporating some Yi Metal materials.

Nowadays, it was undeniable that Zhang Yi’s side had made significant leaps in materials technology compared to Blizzard City, and they might even be leading the entire Huaxu Kingdom.

Zhang Yi also changed into his combat suit. He picked up Hua Hua and, along with Yang Xinxin, arrived at the narrow corridor in front of the door. Zhang Yi commanded through the Smart System, ”Bring the vehicle out.”

As soon as his words fell, the thick floor beneath their feet suddenly split open to both sides, and a silver-gray combat vehicle slowly rose up!

This was the new mode of transportation Lu Keran had built for Zhang Yi—the Snow Fox.

The surrounding area had long been buried under heavy snow. This type of snow vehicle had extremely high speed, even surpassing Blizzard City’s special train.

Zhang Yi and Yang Xinxin got into the vehicle. Yang Xinxin held Hua Hua in her arms, and Zhang Yi started the car, speeding all the way towards Blizzard City.

The new snow vehicle raced through the heavy snow like a silver fox on the snowfields.

With the car on autopilot, Zhang Yi opened the warming compartment, took out two heated drinks, popped the tab on one and handed it to Yang Xinxin, and took the other for himself to drink.

”There haven’t been any signs of large-scale abnormal activity in the Jiangnan Region recently. What do you think Zhu Zheng wants with me by calling me over?”

Zhang Yi asked Yang Xinxin.

Yang Xinxin took a sip of her drink, cradling it in both hands. After thinking carefully, she said calmly,

”Zhu Zheng’s feelings towards you are very complex right now. He wants to use you but also fears your strength. Add to that the fact you obey his orders but not his authority, so he shouldn’t call you over unless it’s absolutely necessary.”

”Only this way can he minimize your presence as much as possible to safeguard his own authority.”

”And the Jiangnan Region hasn’t experienced an Epsilon-level catastrophe. Anything below Epsilon-level, they can handle themselves.”

Half a year had passed. The squad leader-level superhumans of Blizzard City were also growing, and with the advent of the Great Mutation Era, many new geniuses had emerged.

Just as Zhang Yi had once said, this world was not lacking in geniuses, only the fertile ground for them to rise.

Yang Xinxin continued, ”So, I speculate there are two possibilities.”

”First, Tianhai City has encountered a potential Epsilon-level problem. For example, they’ve found a place similar to Mist Valley, but lack the capability to explore it themselves.”

”Second, Zhu Zheng’s position is under threat. Someone is challenging his authority, and he urgently needs to win you over, or at least ensure you remain neutral.”

”As for the third point,” Yang Xinxin took a sip of her hot coffee and said calmly, ”That can only be something outside the Jiangnan Region. If that’s the case, the situation would be more troublesome. We’ll have to hear what Zhu Zheng has to say.”

Subconsciously, Zhang Yi took out one of his White Owls and began stroking it in his hand.

After Lu Keran’s modifications, the White Owl’s barrel was more slender and elegant, with violet patterns on the body that Zhang Yi particularly liked.

When he had a gun in his hand, he always felt a greater sense of security. It had long become a habit.

Even in the early days, whether in the safe house at Yuelu Residential Complex or when he first arrived at the shelter in Cloud Palace Manor, whenever he couldn’t sleep, he would always take out his gun and feel its weight.

”Let me see just what has happened now!”

Zhang Yi murmured.

The Silver Fox sped through the icy, snowy landscape. Tianhai City had long been buried countless times by blizzards. Aside from a few fixed settlements where people lived, the snow in most other places had accumulated to a thickness of several dozen meters.

In this once most prosperous metropolis of the Huaxu Kingdom, only the towering high-rise buildings were still faintly visible.

Over an hour later, after passing through several cities, Zhang Yi and the others arrived at Blizzard City.

A reinforced concrete wall several dozen meters high stood like an impregnable fortress, with a massive, thick alloy gate at its base.

Having been informed of Zhang Yi’s arrival, the guards here had already been notified. The commander of the Yan Yun Guard personally came over and greeted Zhang Yi respectfully.

”Captain Chaos, the Commander is awaiting you in the Operations Command Center!”

Zhang Yi nodded. Once the gate opened, he drove into the city.

The soldiers behind watched the retreating figure of the Snow Fox and silently raised their right hands, saluting solemnly.

Regardless of what kind of person Zhang Yi was, he was now the true guardian deity of the Jiangnan Region.

Because of his existence, the Jiangnan Region could retain some dignity among the Six Major Regions of the Huaxu Kingdom.

And it deterred some of the chaotic forces in the southern seas and the southern lands of Huaxu Kingdom from daring to invade.
