Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

Relatively speaking, Yang Xinxin’s superhuman ability index isn’t particularly high.

She only improved to 7,000 points.

Yang Xinxin isn’t particularly passionate about superhuman abilities; in her view, her rule-type ability can only be used as a tool for surprise attacks.

Compared to her brain, superhuman abilities are merely an accessory.

However, because Lu Keran absorbed a small portion of the Dragon King’s origin, combined with the power of the source sprites she absorbed earlier, her superhuman ability index skyrocketed, directly reaching 9,000 points!

After all, she is a key cultivation target for Zhang Yi.

Lu Keran mastered the [Turning Stone into Gold] ability, strengthened the weapons of everyone in the Shelter, and then began working on reinforcing the entire Shelter building.

Once she completes this, combined with the large number of heavy weapon installations Zhang Yi obtained from Blizzard City,

the Shelter will be transformed into a massive [Tianhai Fortress].

Even if they encounter an average Epsilon-level superhuman, as long as their ability isn’t too peculiar, they can hold out for a while.

However, within the entire Shelter, the one whose strength improved the fastest wasn’t Lu Keran.

It was Liang Yue.

As Huaxu Kingdom’s top-tier grandmaster-level martial artist, her talent is incredibly formidable, so much so that even Zhang Yi had to suppress her growth speed a bit to avoid her becoming difficult to control.

But after absorbing a portion of the source sprites, her strength soared rapidly, soon reaching a height of 9,500 points!

Of course, this is also because Zhang Yi once gave her a squad leader-level origin, which came from Tsukamoto Nobunaga of the [Moon of Corrosion].

Moreover, when distributing the source sprites later, she was also given special consideration.

But this speed is genuinely somewhat terrifying.

Yang Xinxin offered an explanation for this.

”There’s nothing surprising about this. In any field, the gap between geniuses and ordinary people might not be apparent in the initial stages.”

”Perhaps a genius is only slightly stronger than an ordinary person by a limited degree.”

”But the further you go, the more important talent becomes.”

”Decades of consistent martial arts practice is her best foundation. Therefore, even the slightest improvement in her superhuman ability will yield several times the return in her combat power, or rather, her superhuman ability index!”

Zhang Yi deeply agreed.

”This is the benefit of having strong base attributes! If this were a gacha game, Liang Yue would at least be an orange-tier card, and one with maxed-out constellations at that.”

Zhang Yi felt a bit envious, but there was nothing to be jealous about.

He couldn’t endure the hardships Liang Yue had suffered.

But someone seemed to have forgotten something.

Compared to Cadillus and Xuanwu, who were meticulously cultivated by their entire factions, wasn’t his own improvement speed far ahead?

Besides the Shelter, the three major bases also became vigilant due to the previous Dragon King invasion incident.

They began actively preparing supplies, intensifying training, and striving to improve their disaster response capabilities.

Everything was a scene of thriving prosperity.

Even at Qingpu Base, a young couple braved the severe cold and gave birth to a baby.

This was a miracle of life, a hope for the continuation of human civilization.

Xing Tian considered this a joyous event and told Zhang Yi about it.

After listening, Zhang Yi simply told Xing Tian: ”There’s no problem with them having children. For the sustainable development of the base, the next generation is always needed. But pay attention to population control. Otherwise, relying solely on your base’s limited supplies, if reproduction is unrestricted, it will definitely bring huge trouble upon yourselves.”

Reminded by Zhang Yi like this, Xing Tian immediately became vigilant as well.

”That’s true. If everyone goes off to have children, without ten or eight years, the children won’t grow up enough to work, and they’ll just consume food for nothing.”

”It seems we must also strictly manage reproduction.”

After ending the call with Xing Tian, Zhang Yi thought for a moment, then contacted Lu Dahai and Xiao Honglian.

He told the two of them to also pay attention; if there are young couples or lovers within their bases, they need to manage their reproductive situations.

The environment is harsh. Even if they want to have the next generation, they must plan carefully to avoid placing too great a burden on the base.

As a woman, Xiao Honglian had already made arrangements. She smiled and said to Zhang Yi, ”Don’t worry, we manage this issue very strictly in our base.”

”And in times like these, there aren’t many people with the courage, time, and energy to procreate.”

Lu Dahai also said to Zhang Yi, ”Everyone has to work hard every day just to get by; taking care of themselves is already difficult. I’m afraid no one has the extra energy to look after children.”

”But boss, you’re right to remind us. We need to think about the future. I’ll emphasize this issue in the base!”

Zhang Yi nodded.

He suddenly felt that society was recovering. Even though the weather was still very cold, the small number of survivors could still live on resiliently.

Just like the Eskimos, finding a completely new way of survival in the cold environment.

...

Northern border of Huaxu Kingdom.

The further north you go, the colder the weather becomes. Compared to Tianhai City in the south, most areas of the Shengjing Region are perpetually shrouded in biting wind and snow.

Even enhancement-type superhumans with relatively strong cold resistance rarely dare to withstand the severe cold of the north head-on.

The Qinling Mountains, a mountain range stretching across the northern lands of Huaxu Kingdom, were already blanketed in silver, winding across the vast earth.

The north wind howled, and snowflakes were like knives.

Wind and snow at this temperature, if blown onto a person’s face, would rapidly freeze and damage human tissue, more painful than a knife cutting flesh.

Yet, in such a harsh environment, along the path where this winding dragon extended northeast, there were resilient and upright figures.

A sentry post every three steps, a guard post every five.

Soldiers clad in cyan cold-proof military uniforms, holding guns in their hands, stood like ice sculptures on the essential roads leading out of the Qinling Mountains.

”Rumble—rumble—rumble—”

Rough rumbling sounds came from the mountains. Along the black railway, a train slowly emerged from the valley, heading towards the nearest Snow Dragon City.

The carriages were strictly sealed, resembling dark green cans. This wasn’t a special train for passengers, but one carrying something excavated from beneath the Qinling Mountains.

In the Apocalypse, the only ones in Huaxu Kingdom with the capability to lay such long railways in this complex terrain and deploy tight sentry posts were the highest decision-making layers of the major regions.

The black railway was frozen, covered with crushed ice and snow, yet it extended all the way to the deepest part of the Qinling Mountains.

Only when it reached a place called Wuyou Valley did the railway seem to end.

And by now, this place had long since become a massive military restricted zone!

Dozens of heavily armed soldiers in front of the valley, reinforced concrete walls over ten meters high, the barrels of machine cannons several dozen centimeters in caliber faintly protruding from firing ports, or the hundreds of patrol guards from the Shengjing Region’s most elite soldiers, the [Dragon’s Roar Guards], seamlessly patrolling nearby roads—all served to warn anyone trying to approach this place: this location is extremely important and dangerous.
