Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

After listening, Zhang Yi rubbed his chin.

”I’ve never played chess either! Why not name them using our Chinese chess terms?”

Deng Shentong spread his hands. ”We actually had a set of rules initially, based on the nine-character mantra ’Lin, Bing, Dou, Zhe, Jie, Shu, Zu, Qian, Xing’. It’s just that foreigners couldn’t translate these terms, nor could they understand them.”

”So, for convenience’s sake, we’re used to using theirs. Of course, in official reports, some people still use our standards for written explanations.”

Zhang Yi shrugged. ”Whatever, it’s just a designation anyway.”

”So, what level are the Epsilon-level superhumans in the Shengjing Region?”

Zhang Yi’s current superhuman ability index had already reached 15,000 points, but according to this classification system, he was only at the lowest rank, [White Rook].

He was very curious. Shengjing, which obtained the Divine Source earliest and had the underground resources of the Qinling Mountains, had cultivated superhumans of what strength?

Deng Shentong smiled. ”About those, I’m not really sure. The secrecy surrounding Epsilon-level superhumans in each major region is very high. Apart from some superhumans with recorded combat actions whose power can be estimated, there isn’t much information on others.”

”The Shengjing Region has three Epsilon-level superhumans in total.”

”Currently, we only know that the guardian of Wuyou Valley in the Qinling Mountains, [Zhen Yuanzi], has a superhuman ability index of 16,000 points. His ability codename is [Guardian of All Directions], a power that allows control over earth and stone.”

”The second is the Grand Commander of the Shengjing Dragon’s Roar Guards — [Ksitigarbha King]. Ability unknown. Superhuman ability index unknown.”

”As the Grand Commander of the Dragon’s Roar Guards, he rarely leaves Shengjing. True to his codename, his responsibility is to guard the capital. He is also one of the most mysterious figures in Shengjing.”

”The third, you have witnessed his ability before. The first Epsilon-level superhuman born in the Shengjing Region, [Houtu], ability codename [Hell’s Guillotine].”

”Superhuman ability index unknown, but based on estimates,” his gaze turned somewhat profound as he looked at Zhang Yi, ”it’s at least above 20,000!”

Zhang Yi crossed his arms. The Shengjing Region truly lived up to being the number one region. Just their paper strength was terrifyingly formidable.

If you further considered their years of accumulated foundation and their possession of the Huaxu Kingdom’s most powerful and numerous Death Reapers of Love, how powerful Shengjing truly was became something Zhang Yi could hardly imagine.

”This makes me even more curious.”

Zhang Yi said calmly, ”If even they, with such formidable power, can’t solve the problem, how dangerous must it be?”

Deng Shentong spread his hands. ”That’s not necessarily true.”

”Perhaps it’s not that they lack the capability to solve it, but that the required cost might be too high, hence they need us from the other five major regions to share the risk.”

Zhang Yi raised an eyebrow, understanding Deng Shentong’s point.

As expected of a scion from a major family, his perspective on problems was quite clear.

It was just like doing business. A big boss wouldn’t hold all the shares but would invite others to join. Firstly, to obtain more resources; secondly, to share the risks.

Deng Shentong advised Zhang Yi, ”I think you should go to Shengjing this time. No matter what, it’s good to go and hear what they have to say.”

”Moreover,” he leaned in, lowering his voice, ”this is a rare opportunity to meet the high-level figures from all six major regions of the Huaxu Kingdom. If you miss it, who knows when the next chance will be! Aren’t you curious?”

”Anyway, it’s just going to take a look. If you find it’s not worth it when the time comes, you can simply withdraw.”

”Shengjing is only nominally the leader of the six major regions; they have no authority to order us around. So what is there to worry about?”

Zhang Yi’s fingers tapped on the sofa armrest, but he only smiled faintly. ”I’ll think about it some more!”

After casually exchanging a few more pleasantries, Zhang Yi saw Deng Shentong off.

He intended to ask Yang Xinxin for her opinion.

Unexpectedly, Yang Xinxin offered Zhang Yi a unique perspective.

”Brother, you don’t seem to have realized just how important this new elemental ore is!”

Yang Xinxin stared at Zhang Yi, saying with a smile, but her eyes were extremely serious.

Zhang Yi asked curiously, ”Oh? How so?”

Yang Xinxin stroked Hua Hua on her lap and said calmly, ”Although we aren’t short on energy now, the emergence of this new element could advance the overall technological level of the Shelter by at least a hundred years!”

Yang Xinxin snapped her fingers. ”For example, the core problem that Ke Ran is most troubled with right now, the core of the mech. Surely a mech can’t drag a huge fuel tanker truck wherever it goes, right?”

”Under conditions of equal volume, the energy contained in [Yuan] is many times that of fossil fuels.”

”As long as we obtain a large amount of Yuan material, we can use it in weapons, vehicles, mechs, even the entire Shelter’s defenses.”

”How can you think something like this isn’t important, brother?”

Hearing Yang Xinxin’s explanation, Zhang Yi finally realized the importance of this new element.

”No wonder Old Zhu’s proposed condition for me was half of the elemental ore. Was it that I didn’t recognize its value?”

Yang Xinxin nodded, sighing with emotion. ”That’s the new element that the former superpower of the Northern Region once spent enormous cost trying to obtain from the endless depths underground!”

”If they had succeeded back then, the world today might present a completely different landscape.”

Zhang Yi wasn’t very interested in those matters.

”You’re saying I should go, right?”

Yang Xinxin nodded.

”Anyway, going to take a look won’t result in any loss, so why not go?”

Zhang Yi might not listen to others’ advice, but he would definitely carefully consider Yang Xinxin’s opinion.

Zhang Yi sat on the sofa, pondering for a long time.

If he left for Shengjing, what about Tianhai City?

He had offended quite a few people. What if someone took advantage of him being far away in Shengjing to attack Tianhai City? That would be dangerous.

After thinking for a moment, Zhang Yi thought of a very good method to solve the problem.

He stood up tall. ”Let’s go, find Zhu Zheng!”

He was going to find Zhu Zheng to ask for one person.

Zhang Yi didn’t waste any time. He returned just a few hours after leaving.

He went directly to find Zhu Zheng and told him, ”I’ve decided. I’ll go to Shengjing. But I need you to give me one person!”

Zhu Zheng’s face was full of delight. As long as Zhang Yi agreed to go, the terms were all negotiable.

”Who do you want? Blizzard City has countless elites, and many beauties too. Whichever you like, just pick!”

Zhang Yi shook his head. ”That’s completely unnecessary. Better save those for my brother Xu Chunlei. I only want one person: Jingwei!”

Zhu Zheng was somewhat surprised. ”Jingwei?”

Jingwei’s strength wasn’t particularly high, barely at the squad leader level. Her talent couldn’t be considered exceptionally high either.

Her looks were quite good, but compared to the women around Zhang Yi, she wasn’t particularly outstanding either.

Zhu Zheng didn’t quite understand what Zhang Yi’s purpose was.

But sacrificing one Jingwei to get Zhang Yi to go to the Shengjing Region? Zhu Zheng was, of course, very willing.
