Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 205: Chapter 205: Arrogant? Challenge

Instructor Chen Pingping was speechless because his direct superior had just reprimanded him. He realized that he had indeed been too impulsive and let his anger get the best of him.

Gu Yifan, however, was speechless because the platoon leader automatically assumed he would be the one getting beaten down.

’Then again, it makes sense,’ he thought. After all, Chen Pingping was a formally trained soldier, while he himself was just a college freshman. To any normal person, a fight between them would be like an egg hitting a rock—he would obviously be the one to get hurt.

What they didn’t know, however, was that Gu Yifan was no ordinary college student. He was a Reincarnator with a cheat system!

Equipped with his Special-Level Fighting Technique, he possessed the combat prowess of the strongest solo operative in a special forces unit.

Although Gu Yifan had never actually used this Special-Level Fighting Technique, nor had he ever sparred or fought with anyone before!

But!

’Knowing this system’s usual antics, how could this Special-Level Fighting Technique possibly be anything ordinary?’

’Anything from the system is guaranteed to be top-tier!’

Chen Pingping, a mere regular soldier, was truly no match for him.

Just as Gu Yifan was lost in thought, the platoon leader suddenly spoke. ”Alright, it’s almost time for the performance rehearsal. Everyone, disperse! Get back to what you’re supposed to be doing!”

”Yes, Platoon Leader!”

Chen Pingping responded loudly.

Seeing this, Gu Yifan didn’t say anything more. He turned, walked over to Su Qinghe, and took her hand, ready to leave.

He wasn’t a violent person, after all, and this wasn’t a fight he absolutely had to pick.

But just because he didn’t want to cause trouble didn’t mean Chen Pingping would let him off so easily.

Seeing him take Su Qinghe’s hand and start to leave, the instructor barked, ”Hey! You, stop right there!”

At these words, Gu Yifan couldn’t help but frown slightly. He turned around, his face devoid of expression, and asked, ”Is there something else, Instructor?”

”You can go, but she has to stay!”

Chen Pingping said, pointing at Su Qinghe.

Gu Yifan shot him a look, then ignored him completely, turning and pulling Su Qinghe straight toward the exit.

”Stop!”

Seeing Gu Yifan act so defiantly, Chen Pingping lost his cool again. Forgetting his platoon leader was even there, he roared at Gu Yifan, ”You little bastard, do you really think I won’t hit you?”

Gu Yifan’s steps faltered slightly.

Then, he slowly turned his head to face the seething Chen Pingping and said calmly, ”If I knock you to the ground, can the two of us leave?”

WHOOSH—

The moment Gu Yifan said this, the onlooking students erupted into a commotion.

”Holy shit!”

”This guy’s a badass!”

”Knock the instructor to the ground???”

”So arrogant! He’s a total savage!”

”For real!”

”He’s definitely talking a big game, but I wonder if he can actually back it up, or if he’s just all talk!”

...

The crowd of students began to mutter amongst themselves.

At that moment, Instructor Chen Pingping’s eyes instantly became bloodshot!

’Dammit!’

’In front of all these people, he actually had the gall to say he’d knock me to the ground!’

’In all my life, I’ve never seen someone so arrogant!’

”Kid, you’ve got some nerve!”

Chen Pingping said, his face an icy mask. ”Fine! If you can make me fall, I’ll let you both go! I’d like to see if your punches are big enough or if my fists are harder!”

”Nonsense!”

”Chen Pingping! Don’t forget who you are!”

Seeing the atmosphere instantly grow hostile and tense, the platoon leader yelled.

At that, Chen Pingping’s imposing manner instantly deflated, but he still cried out defiantly, ”Platoon Leader! I—”

”Say one more word and I’ll have you sent packing right now!”

The platoon leader shot him a glare and said in an icy tone.

After saying this, he turned to Gu Yifan and said calmly, ”Young man, Instructor Chen was just joking with you. Training is about to begin. You can return to your class line now.”

”I don’t think he was joking.”

”As a soldier, how can he take back his words?”

”Since Instructor Chen said that as long as my punches are strong enough to knock him down, he would let us go!”

”Then this is perfect. Please, sir, be our witness!”

”I, Gu Yifan, challenge him!”

Gu Yifan announced, his expression serene.

An uproar...

Gu Yifan’s audacious challenge sent the crowd of students into another frenzy!

”Holy shit!”

”He’s really going for it! The commander told him he could leave, but he’s dead set on fighting Instructor Chen!”

”What a madlad!”

”This guy’s a real man!!”

...

The crowd began to mutter again.

”Can... can we not fight...?”

Su Qinghe whispered, tugging on Gu Yifan’s sleeve.

”Don’t worry, I know my limits.”

Gu Yifan looked down at her, and seeing her face full of worry, he smiled slightly and gently reassured her.

With that, he turned back to the platoon leader and asked again, ”Sir, I want to challenge Instructor Chen. May I?”

”Uh...”

With everyone watching, Platoon Leader Luo Fei found it hard to refuse. He could only say tactfully, ”Young man, fists have no eyes. It wouldn’t be good if someone got hurt. You need to think this through carefully!”

”Don’t worry, sir. I’m aware of that!”

”’Fists have no eyes’ is exactly what I wanted to say, too!”

”If I happen to injure Instructor Chen Pingping, I also ask you, sir, to bear witness that this was a voluntary match!”

”I just don’t want anyone coming to cause trouble for me afterward!”

”After all, I’m just a student. I don’t want to get a major demerit for injuring someone right at the start of the semester!”

Gu Yifan said with a calm expression.

”Uh...”

Hearing Gu Yifan say this, Platoon Leader Luo Fei was momentarily at a loss for words.

But Chen Pingping was a different story!

’This little bastard in front of me is just too damn arrogant!’

’Dammit!’

’He’s acting as if he’s actually badass enough to injure me!’

’He’s just a punk kid. If I can’t even beat him, then all my years in the army have been a complete waste!’

Chen Pingping’s anger surged, and he shouted, ”Platoon Leader!

I accept his challenge!

If I am injured, I will bear the consequences myself! I will not hold the other party responsible in any way!”

”...”

Hearing this, Platoon Leader Luo Fei was truly and utterly speechless.

Seeing how insistent the two were, with so many people watching, he knew he couldn’t stop it anymore.

Besides, soldiers are naturally drawn to martial contests.

Sparring matches were common occurrences in the army!

So, after a moment of thought, he announced, ”Since that’s the case and both parties agree, then I will act as the witness!

This is a spar, so stop when a point is made!

Try your best to avoid any injuries!”

Gu Yifan knew the platoon leader’s last sentence was directed at Chen Pingping, telling him to hold back.

Seeing that he was being underestimated, Gu Yifan didn’t say a word.

’My true strength? He’ll find out in a moment!’

Following that, the crowd cleared a space in the center.

Gu Yifan and Chen Pingping put some distance between them.

The two began to face off.

Chen Pingping looked at Gu Yifan with a scornful expression, then made a provocative gesture by crooking his finger at him.
