The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 1170: Chapter 1170: A Little Horn (Part 24)

——I’ve come to find you, my princess.

Her Highness the Eldest Princess suddenly stood up, looking incredulously at the contents of the letter.

The Little Palace Maid and Lady Wan stopped chatting, surprised, and looked towards the Princess.

The Eldest Princess took a deep breath, ”You two continue chatting.”

With that, she walked out.

The Little Palace Maid wanted to catch up, but was stopped by Lady Wan: ”Her Highness didn’t ask you to follow, don’t go causing trouble.”

The Little Palace Maid hesitated and asked, ”I... shouldn’t say this.”

She had always kept it from the Princess, actually worried that if she found a man she liked, Her Royal Highness would feel uncomfortable.

The suitor had proposed several times, and she had always refused, intending to wait until the Princess’s marriage was settled before mentioning her own situation.

However, today the Princess said she wanted to match her with that immortal, which was completely out of her reach. Afraid the Princess would meddle, she had no choice but to honestly confess everything.

Lady Wan sighed, ”You can’t hide it forever; Her Highness hopes to see you happy.”

Little Palace Maid: ”But I also want Her Royal Highness to be happy. I won’t marry until she marries.”

Lady Wan was startled: ”You want someone to wait for you indefinitely?”

The Little Palace Maid nodded.

”That won’t do. What if they can’t wait any longer? Aren’t you afraid...”

The Little Palace Maid lowered her eyes.

Afraid, of course, she was afraid.

After all, he was the man she liked. Who wouldn’t fear him finding someone else?

His mother’s health was unstable, and he always wanted to marry early so his mother could be at ease.

But it wasn’t possible; she couldn’t leave Her Royal Highness.

The eunuch informed the old emperor of the Little Princess’s coming-of-age ceremony to prevent him from forgetting.

The old emperor was taken aback; his little daughter was about to come of age!

He remembered when his eldest daughter went to the border, the little one was only eight, tearfully clinging to her big sister’s leg, begging to go along.

Now the little one was coming of age, but the eldest daughter didn’t know when she could return.

It seemed the love he couldn’t give his eldest was suddenly poured onto his little one. The Little Princess was greatly favored, and the coming-of-age banquet was extremely grand. But, after all, she wasn’t born of the Empress, so she couldn’t outshine the Eldest Princess.

The little one’s coming of age reminded the old emperor, who regretted that the Number One Handsome Man couldn’t be his son-in-law, that perhaps this good young man of sixteen could be a proper son-in-law instead.

But the little one was born of a concubine, a status which in other families might be overlooked. Yet given she was a princess of the current dynasty, who dared to look down upon her? But within the peculiar Bai Family, that was uncertain.

In the Bai Family’s eyes, a princess born of a Noble Consort could still be viewed as the daughter of a concubine, perhaps even less than the daughter of a farmer’s wife with a clear family background.

Whether it would work out or not, this matter was on his mind, after all, the Little Princess had reached the age to choose a Prince Consort.

The old emperor privately met with the Number One Handsome Man’s father, gathering in a tavern outside the palace as old friends, drinking, and enjoying themselves. During the conviviality, the old emperor asked about the Bai Family’s plans for Bai Yu’s marriage.

”He’s the treasure of both families, no one dares to wrong him, nor pressure him. He is free to choose.”

”Choose himself?” The old emperor frowned disapprovingly, ”Traditionally, marriage is arranged by parents and matchmakers.”

”The Bai Family doesn’t adhere to rules so strictly, and Your Majesty knows this. Besides, that boy declared at the age of nine to both families that he already had someone in mind, and once he tops the imperial exams, he would seek her out.”
