The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Capítulo 1163: Chapter 1163: A Little Horn (Part 17)

The eunuch informed the old emperor about the Little Princess’s coming-of-age ceremony so that he would not forget.

The old emperor was taken aback; his little daughter was about to come of age!

He remembered when the Eldest Princess went to the borders, the Little Princess was only eight years old, crying and clinging to her elder sister’s leg, begging to go along.

Now the Little Princess was already coming of age, yet the Eldest Princess’s return remained uncertain.

It seemed that the affection meant for the Eldest Princess was suddenly lavished on the Little Princess. Showered with love, her coming-of-age banquet was magnificently grand, but after all, she wasn’t born to the Empress, and therefore could not outshine the Eldest Princess.

With the Little Princess coming of age, the old emperor regretted that the Number One Handsome Man could not become his son-in-law as a reside-in husband. However, perhaps he could become his legitimate son-in-law.

Yet the fact was that the Little Princess, being born of a concubine, had a status that others might not look down upon, for after all, she was a princess of the current dynasty, and who dared to look down on her? But with the peculiar Bai Family, that was uncertain.

Perhaps in the eyes of the Bai Family, a princess born to a Noble Consort was still the daughter of a concubine, less noble than the daughter of a farmer’s wife with a clear family background.

Regardless of whether it would happen, this matter weighed on his mind, for the Little Princess had reached the age to choose a Prince Consort.

The old emperor privately met with the father of the Number One Handsome Man, meeting outside the palace like old friends, drinking happily. Under the influence of alcohol, the old emperor inquired about the Bai Family’s plans for Bai Yu’s marriage.

“He is the beloved son of both families, no one dares to make him suffer or force him, so he is left to choose for himself.”

“Choose for himself?” The old emperor frowned disapprovingly: “Since ancient times, marriage has been decided by parents and matchmakers.”

“The Bai Family doesn’t adhere to such rules, as Your Majesty is aware. Furthermore, when the boy was nine, he had already told the elders that he had someone in mind and would seek her out once he became the top scholar.”

The old emperor downed a glass of wine, feeling somewhat displeased.

Such a fine young man, not being his reside-in son-in-law was one thing, but now he couldn’t even become his son-in-law.

“Do you know who the girl he fancies is? An engagement decided privately at the age of nine, what kind of girl…”

“Hahaha, isn’t it your own daughter!”

The originally gloomy old emperor was stunned, wanting to ask further questions but unfortunately, despite several nudges, the other party had already passed out drunk.

On his way back to the palace, the old emperor was in high spirits. Upon returning, he gathered a few trusted eunuchs to investigate whether Bai Yu and the Little Princess had met in secret.

Soon, information was reported back.

“Your Majesty, seven years ago, the Old Prince brought young master Bai Yu into the palace.”

“Oh~” The old emperor recalled: “Now that you mention it, I do remember. Seven years ago, the Old Prince said his grandson wished to see the foreign envoys, to see if they truly had green eyes and yellow hair. So when the envoys came, he brought his grandson into the palace where they stayed temporarily.”

“Yes, it was then, and where they stayed was not far from the Little Princess’s residence.”

The old emperor’s lips curved into a smile: “At that time, the Little Princess was eight, Bai Yu was nine, who would have thought, they were childhood sweethearts…”

However… how is it that they haven’t seemed to have any interaction over these seven years in the Imperial City?

“Have they exchanged letters?” Perhaps unbeknownst to him, the two youngsters had long been in mutual understanding.

“No, the investigation only discovered that seven years ago, young master Bai Yu stayed in the palace and might have met the Little Princess.”

“Might have met?” The old emperor frowned, sensing something amiss but unable to pinpoint it immediately.

“It was too long ago, and at that time, the Little Princess was heartbroken over the Eldest Princess’s departure, sequestering herself, so… no specifics could be found.”

“I understand.”

After dismissing the reporting eunuch, the old emperor paced back and forth in the hall, “No, I need to personally ask that boy, get a clear answer, I cannot rashly decree a marriage. If he fancies the Little Princess, he should have informed me long ago. Why wait until he became the top scholar, there are too many puzzling aspects in this matter!”
