Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

”For her, do you really want to destroy the foundation of the Hughes Clan?” Grace Roe looked at her son with complete incomprehension. Had he been possessed?

”Not for her, but for my father, your former husband.” Joshua Hughes’ gaze was as sharp as a blade, piercing directly into Grace Roe’s heart, giving her no time to recover. Instantly, her face turned paper-white. Her former husband? That scholar with an intelligence that could only be looked up to, that gentle lover, that forgiving father, Declan Hughes was a flawless man. Such a man that even God would be envious of, which is why he was given a body that wasn’t completely healthy.

”He’s been dead for so many years, Joshua. I know you didn’t like me marrying Conny, but I was only in my twenties then. I just, I just......” Grace Roe couldn’t say it out loud. She just complied with **, she just didn’t want to be lonely.

”You just couldn’t keep loneliness at bay.” Joshua Hughes spoke coldly, not sparing the woman standing before him any mercy.

”I have no right to blame you for remarrying, but while my father was alive, you had already wronged him, hadn’t you? You had clandestine affairs in the study more than once. It truly makes one sick.” The icy words conveyed disgust, and today was the day to resolve everything.

”You, you.......” Grace Roe looked at Joshua Hughes in horror. How could he know?

”You’re wondering, how would I know, right? Because I saw it with my own eyes.” Joshua Hughes’ gaze lacked any warmth, even his way of speaking was frightening.

”Joshua, it wasn’t like that, I, I.....” Grace Roe was at a loss for words. She couldn’t think of how to explain to Joshua Hughes. How old was he at that time? How carelessly had she let a child see these things?

”You make me feel sick. This is our last meeting. Don’t ever interfere in my life again. If you dare to harm Avery Jane even a little bit, I will make Luis Hughes and his son die more miserably than going to the Inferno.” Joshua Hughes didn’t want to say anymore. Just thinking about this woman with Conny Hughes made him feel sick.

”Joshua, I truly want to be a good mother, I want to make it up to you.......” Grace Roe’s tears fell one by one. What kind of sin had she committed?

”The best compensation you could give me is to never appear in front of me again and let me live peacefully.” Joshua Hughes looked out the window, the sky slowly changing, growing darker, a storm was quickly approaching.......

”Joshua, I am your mother.....” Grace Roe’s face was pale and weak. She didn’t know what more she could do for him. Everything she did irritated him. She had no room to retreat. The bond between them as mother and son was so faint.

Joshua Hughes stood outside the window, his back to her, only leaving her with his silhouette. Because you gave birth to me, because you were the woman my father genuinely loved, I didn’t tell you that it was Conny Hughes who secretly swapped the medicine, causing my father to die prematurely, and who more than once tried to secretly kill me. If I told you all this, would you be so ashamed that you’d die immediately? Or maybe we truly have no bond as mother and son, but this is my limit of tolerance. I merely left Conny Hughes with nothing, and that is already the greatest mercy I can offer you.
