Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

A good night’s sleep, perhaps it was because she was by his side.

It had been a long time since she’d slept so soundly.

Atlas always woke up earlier than Charlotte. She curled up in his arms like a kitten, breathing evenly in sleep.

He gently pulled out his arm, tiptoed out of the bed, closed the room door, and headed to the living room of the suite.

He summoned the hotel’s private housekeeper, who, along with a chef, prepared breakfast.

He wanted to spend the entire day with her, but he had obligations he couldn’t avoid, so he had to leave after breakfast.

Sometimes Atlas truly hated his inability to be in two places at once, but getting through these few days should make things better. He’d be able to spend more time with her, and could start working on the plans he’d long been contemplating.

Even though being together like this felt great, something seemed to be missing.

For breakfast, Atlas asked the chef to prepare Chinese food. Having eaten Western cuisine last night, he figured she wouldn’t have an appetite for Western breakfast this morning.

The housekeeper brought two people: a chef and someone to arrange the dining table. Given the Chinese breakfast, the table was set with Chinese utensils, a complete set of enamel dishes exuding unmatched elegance under the morning light.

The chef brought half-prepared dishes. The presidential suite was already equipped with an open kitchen. After arranging everything, Atlas turned back to the bedroom; she should be waking up by now.

Sure enough, as soon as he opened the bedroom door, he saw Charlotte lazily lying on the bed, her bright eyes half-open. The morning sunshine danced through the ethereal curtains, seemingly about to dance on her eyelashes—he wished he could see her waking up like this every day.

Atlas walked over and lightly kissed her lips, ”Morning...”

”Morning...” Charlotte’s voice was lazy yet alluring. She reached out a rosy white arm from under the covers and wrapped it around Atlas’s shoulder, whispering, ”What time is it?”

”Seven o’clock, have some breakfast, and I’ll take you to work.” Atlas’s voice was gentle and magnetic, lingering in the air and captivating.

”Hmm...” Charlotte hummed softly, her fingers gliding over Atlas’s rugged collarbone. His sharp edges seemed softer in the morning light, his masculinity and sexiness all blended together.

”There’s a saying—a man so handsome women can’t keep their legs together. I suppose it refers to someone like you...” Charlotte teased with a laugh, tracing her slender leg along Atlas’s lean, powerful waist, laughing like osmanthus wine brewed in spring, tempting one to drown in its intoxication.

Atlas’s eyes grew hazy, but Charlotte pushed his shoulder away, sitting up and boldly walking naked into the bathroom.

”Aren’t you going to change clothes? You’ll be late.” She closed the door behind her, and Atlas could faintly hear her giggles.

She was getting bolder, learning to flirt and flee. Sitting there, Atlas reflected deeply; the world was vast, yet there’s always one person who steps into your life and makes you let go of all your coldness and anger.

Charlotte was his destined one.

Both changed into their clothes, and breakfast was ready in the dining room.

The chef had prepared some exquisite Chinese dim sum, mainly semi-finished products that could be steamed. Although seemingly simple, the chef was originally from Sydney’s Dragon Vista Manor, so every detail was meticulously attended to.

Delicate lotus pastries, crab meat dumplings, uniquely shaped lobsters with jade pear scent, lotus seed pastry, scallop siu mai, XO sauce scallop dumplings, goose liver pan-fried dough, lobster rice rolls with black bean sauce, whole abalone chicken pastries were so exquisite that one hesitated to take a bite.

There were also two bowls of perfectly cooked ginkgo beancurd congee, which whetted Charlotte’s appetite.

”How did you know I wanted this?” Charlotte asked, drinking the creamy porridge while savoring the exquisite dim sum.

Indeed, appropriate exercise boosts appetite—these dim sum felt like culinary delights.

Honestly, she was so hungry she could eat an entire cow.

Atlas smiled silently, accompanying her after breakfast to work. He too had to handle all his affairs before he could be at ease with her.

When Charlotte returned to the company, Annie had just arrived. The two chatted and laughed as they entered the company.

Atlas also turned his steering wheel back to the Hallow Clan.

Unexpectedly, Amir was already sitting in his office when he returned.

Holding a cup of light green tea, sitting on the sofa, he smiled subtly as he saw Atlas, ”A night of fun...”

”Is it that obvious?” Atlas sat opposite Amir, his tie undone, revealing faint kiss marks on his collarbone through the unbuttoned shirt.

”My father, he...” Amir hesitated, his gaze carrying an indescribable, obscure emotion.

”I no longer involve myself in his affairs. As for those Mexicans pursuing him, there’s nothing I can do. He should have realized how dire the consequences would be if he failed when he took their money.” Atlas spoke indifferently as though it were of no consequence.

Yet within, emotions roiled—a current he repressed, unable to outright tell Amir that Flix planned to assassinate him, kidnap Mia, oust him from Hallow Clan, and seize all his assets. If all these weren’t reasons enough for him to take ruthless action against Flix, then what more was needed?

”I understand,” Amir said no more, drawing a cigarette from his pocket, smoking silently without further words.

This matter revealed little more after being spoken...

Charlotte, done with a day’s work, was about to relax with a cup of tea when Annie burst into the room like a madwoman.

”Charlotte, Atlas is in trouble.” Annie said, pale-faced, lips trembling.

Seeing this, an ominous feeling struck Charlotte’s heart.

”What happened?” She asked, her voice shaking—no wonder he hadn’t called all day; previously, he’d always find a few minutes to call, even just for a brief chat, but not today.

She had been too careless—how could he be too busy even for a few minutes?

”He was kidnapped.” Annie said, looking at Charlotte, whose face was drained of color like a burial flag, as if about to crumble.

”When did it happen?” Charlotte bit her lip, fiercely—her teeth piercing her lip, tasting blood.

Forcing herself to calm down, those who could abduct Atlas were no ordinary people. Now, he could only depend on her, and she had to remain calm.

”In the afternoon, heard he was taken from the parking lot. Daniel Parker has already sealed off the news, worried it’ll alert the culprits. Besides, involving the police might not be a good idea.” Annie poured water for Charlotte, who looked on the brink of fainting.

”Right, don’t alert the police—I’ll go find Flower Snake.” Charlotte stood trembling, her hands shaking as she grabbed her car keys and headed out.

”I’ll drive.” Annie, witnessing her condition, took the keys from Charlotte and accompanied her to the elevator, heading to the parking lot.

He hadn’t left the company for days, handling all affairs there—how suddenly was he going to the parking lot to go out for something?

Something’s wrong.

The car arrived at the alley outside Flower Snake’s place, who was already hurriedly coming out.

”I’ve heard. I’m going out to handle things now—you don’t have to be so anxious. Given it’s a kidnapping, there’d definitely be demands—someone like Atlas wouldn’t have them carelessly kill the hostage.” Flower Snake explained before Charlotte could speak, instructing her to wait for news.

Charlotte dared not return to Mia’s courtyard—her current state might frighten Mia. Because no matter how strong, at this moment, she couldn’t help but cry, tears falling one by one.

She’d never felt so helpless; he was so strong—how had he been kidnapped?
