Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

Thinking about this, he held her even tighter, as if afraid she might disappear. He couldn’t bear to force her, even the slightest glimpse of her fear pained him deeply, to the point where he couldn’t take it, so he didn’t care whom he offended; nothing else mattered to him.

The entire hall was plunged into suffocating silence by the terrible storm in Joshua Hughes’ eyes. Even when people spoke, their voices were hushed; no one wanted to offend this man. Especially after hearing Tate Hunter suggest that Avery Jane accompany him for a chat that night, Joshua’s face turned a livid shade, and his tension reached its peak, a feeling palpable even from afar.

Everyone’s eyes were focused on the dealer’s hands as he slowly laid out each card.

As the cards were revealed one by one, Tate Hunter’s mind felt like it exploded. He was sure he hadn’t mistaken the order during the shuffle, no matter how fast it was.

The Ace of Hearts was supposed to be the tenth card from the end, but now it turned out to be the Ace of Spades.

He had no doubt; he couldn’t possibly be wrong, especially with such a stark difference between red and black.

He had enough confidence, that’s why he dared to challenge Joshua Hughes in front of so many people. If his woman was played with tonight, then Joshua in the future wouldn’t dare be in Las Vegas again, let alone help Edward Parker.

But this was all too unexpected. Tate Hunter’s mind went blank, as if filled with glue. He abruptly turned to look at the expressionless dealer. Over the past three days, all the dealers had been brought over from the Las Vegas casinos. This dealer had been working in their family casino for nearly fifteen years, but who would have thought?

He’s certain that this dealer has been bribed by Joshua Hughes.

”Do it,” Joshua Hughes suddenly had a sharp knife in his hand, as if by magic. The blade was as thin as a thread, reflecting a cold and eerie glint. He moved with lightning speed; a flash of silver streaked as the knife was firmly embedded in the table before Tate Hunter.

All the tension was at its highest point.

Could there really be bloodshed on the spot?

Joshua Hughes’ tall and striking figure seemed forged from the most mysterious of nights, his eyes carrying a faint bloodthirsty aura, contrasting starkly with the serene and gentle woman beside him. Yet, when the two stood together, they were harmoniously compatible, all contradictions melted away by his overflowing love, as vast and boundless as a dark night, while she was like the only star in the night sky.

Tate Hunter shook his head in disbelief and took two steps back. ”Impossible. I clearly saw it. There’s no way she has the Ace of Hearts. I want to search her...”

It seemed even this dealer from their casino had been bribed by Joshua Hughes. He was truly unwilling to accept this.

If he lost this battle today, he would lose even more face than Edward Parker.

Especially since he’d lose three fingers. Without those three fingers, he could never gamble again, so how could he take over the family business?

”Can’t stand losing...” Joshua Hughes looked at him, his deep gaze emitting a murderous light, tearing through the silence in the air. Everyone’s tense breathing seemed frozen in this atmosphere.
