Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

Edward Parker felt like a huge stone in his heart had finally fallen to the ground. From the day his father was murdered, he’d been carrying that stone, tightly held by hatred—the most dreadful thing, fearing that one day, the string might snap, and the massive rock of hatred would suddenly crash down and shatter his heart.

He still had his mother and sister; he couldn’t afford any mistakes.

This was also the reason for his hesitation in making a move. He wanted to be absolutely certain, but things were different now. Avery Jane had joined in, which meant Joshua Hughes would also come back. There was no way he would let anything happen to his woman.

Their chances of winning had increased significantly, but gambling? How did she come up with this idea?

Everyone knew that this competition was Big Head George’s way of paving the path for his son’s future leadership. Eliminate the opponent, then smoothly become the Gambling King with extraordinary gambling skills, and his son would have a bright future in Las Vegas.

”We can take him out privately, why bother gambling?” Edward Parker picked up the purple clay pot with boiling water and brewed Lyon’s Kung Fu tea. In no time, the fragrant, reddish-brown tea filled the air. He respectfully served a cup and placed it on the table in front of Avery Jane.

”They harmed my father at the gambling table, so to get justice for him, I have to win it back at the gambling table. I want three fingers from his son.” Avery Jane spoke slowly, each word cutting through Edward Parker’s eardrums with a deadly intensity, especially those final words—three fingers...

This reminded him of that long-buried past; his father had told him about the genius gambler, the spirited and handsome youth who was set up during a gambit, lost three fingers, and even his wife was ravaged by Big Head George.

His father had told him this story as a cautionary tale: do not be greedy, do not be arrogant, and above all, do not become someone like Big Head George.

Edward had always thought those people existed only in stories. When he was young, he wasn’t in Las Vegas; he had been sent abroad to study, so he had never seen that genius youth.

But now, the girl he long supposed was just a fictional character was sitting right in front of him. He could imagine his father’s reminiscent gaze when talking about Luke Harringtons’ beautiful wife, and looking at Avery Jane now, he understood why Big Head George had lusted after her.

”Are you Luke Harringtons’ daughter?” Shocked yet maintaining composure, Edward Parker continued to brew tea.

”Yes.” Avery Jane sipped Lyon’s Kung Fu tea. The initial taste was slightly bitter, with a hint of sweetness, a touch of smoothness, and finally, her mouth filled with fragrance. Savoring it slowly indeed enhanced its flavor.

”What can I do to help you?” How she wanted him to help her intrigued Edward Parker. His father’s death came too suddenly, leaving no instructions.

”I want absolute fairness at the gambling table. I wish to win a game against him openly.” Avery Jane lowered her eyes, revealing no emotions, only her long eyelashes fluttered gently like a butterfly resting by the flowers.

”It is impossible to have absolute fairness; his son is gradually taking over the casino affairs. He will clear all paths for his son, including this competition. You can only compete on who cheats faster, who is less likely to be caught, who stays more focused. Because the same rules apply for cheating, if you win, it’s still considered fair, understand?” Talking about absolute fairness in a casino, perhaps Avery Jane had been too well-protected by a man like Joshua Hughes to be so naive, to believe in the existence of absolute fairness in gambling.

”The best I can do for you is to join this competition myself, knock down all opponents for you, and get you into the finals to handle him personally. But Tate Hunter’s gambling skills are good; you might not win, and if he proposes conditions you can’t accept, you’ll have to. Can you handle that?” Edward Parker had heard of Tate Hunter, sensing the woman in front of him had a deadly attraction to any man. Frankly speaking, given the chance, any man would want to sleep with her, so would she repeat her mother’s tragedy?

”I understand what you’re saying, but how do we cheat? How do we switch cards?” Avery Jane grasped his words. If everyone cheats, it would depend on whose skills are superior.
