Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

”You don’t know how to gamble? Not at all?” Edward Parker was momentarily at a loss, feeling a bit dumbfounded. She doesn’t know how to gamble, so how could she win?

”I don’t know how to gamble, but I keep winning.” Avery Jane replied truthfully.

During those two months, she and Eliza Bell secretly gambled a little in the underground casino, but she truly hadn’t lost a single game.

She wasn’t sure if it was luck or something else, but she could just feel the quality of the cards, almost as if she could see through them to the bottom.

Could this be genetic or inherited?

So, when the cards were not good, she simply wouldn’t call, and when she felt the cards were good, she would double down on her bets, which kept her winning.

This statement puzzled him even more than her previous one, so he picked up a deck of cards and played two games with her.

He could only say that some people truly have a talent for gambling, and Avery Jane was one of those people.

”Alright, Miss Jane, now I’ll teach you how to cheat.” Perhaps even Heaven noticed that Big Head George had committed too many sins, hence allowing such an innocent and pure woman to possess genius-level gambling skills.

Sometimes such things are inexplicable. Perhaps, when gambling, Luke Harringtons gave his daughter all the inspiration, allowing her to be so confident and spirited.

Her fingers were extremely nimble, changing cards so quickly that he couldn’t even see clearly. Could this also be considered a talent?

”This isn’t innate. My father had me twirl various things between my fingers since I was little.” Avery Jane noticed his confusion and said lightly, while the cards between her fingers had already changed suits several times.

She was truly stunning when she played cards—clean, swift, and her eyes radiant like the most beautiful gems.

Edward Parker watched Avery Jane’s departing figure. She was truly a peculiar woman, appearing as pure as a pool of clear water, yet able to manipulate a deck of cards with such mastery.

Every card in her hand seemed like an obedient child, allowing her to always find the exact suit she wanted with precision.

She was also the best student, comprehending gambling’s essence very quickly.

It seems this smoke-free war in Las Vegas will indeed be intensely fierce.

Picking up the phone, although she could play cards very well, there was always a need for someone to have her back.

Only with someone’s umbrella of protection could Avery Jane win even more smoothly.

Although he could take on this role, there was a person even more suited.

Because he was a natural-born strong and ruthless man, only such a formidable character could contend with Big Head George, even suppressing him greatly.

Joshua Hughes wasn’t surprised to receive Edward Parker’s call; he knew that he would eventually call him anyway.

The man, with his mysterious midnight-like eyes, carried a hint of sadness and loneliness, much like the most aloof star in the sky, his sharp features exuding an unstoppable aura.

With the phone close to his ear, his heart would tremble slightly, not because of the caller, but because every bit of news about Avery Jane excited and unsettled him.

”Young Master Hughes, Young Madam came to see me today. She wants an absolutely fair competition, but I’ve honestly told her there’s no absolute fairness in gambling. What I can do to help her now is to enter the competition myself. Firstly, I can draw others’ attention away from her. Secondly, I can shield her from numerous opponents until entering the finals, at which point I’ll lose to her to send her straight into the finals. It’s not even about me losing to her; she actually will win against me. She’s the most gifted one I’ve met in years. I’m confident this three-day competition will be immensely spectacular, though one has to wonder if her body can endure it? After all, she is a woman.” Edward Parker said frankly over the phone.

The competition involved a hundred participants, divided into fifty tables, each with two players in a best-of-three format, two out of three advances.

Then, the top fifty continue competing, narrowing down to twenty-five players.

They continue to group until only two reach the finals, which is on the third day, causing the whole of Las Vegas immense excitement.

Such a grueling contest is very demanding mentally and requires withstanding enormous pressure. Usually, even men find it overwhelming, let alone a delicate woman.

”Have someone protect her secretly. I’ll handle some matters first and arrive in Las Vegas tomorrow.” This is a crucial moment in her life, and he doesn’t want her to see him distracted, but he can always protect her from the shadows.

Even if she loses in the finals, it doesn’t matter. She can still claim Tate Hunter’s life; whatever she wants, he’ll make it happen for her.

Yet, since she enjoys winning at the gambling table, he’ll ensure she fulfills her wish to win there.

In the dark of the night, the man’s gaze no longer bore its usual coldness and tyranny. Thinking of his beloved, it became lengthy and profound, like the deep sea—tender and sorrowful.

Joshua Hughes knew Atlas Hallow had also arrived in Las Vegas. With him there, he needn’t worry about Avery Jane’s safety, as Atlas was probably there to trouble Big Head George as well. That would be perfect to tackle all at once.

The timing is right...

Charlotte Miller returned to the hotel, just as Atlas Hallow finished his shower and updated her on Mia’s situation.

”I just had a call with Mia. She ate a yogurt as a night snack and is still in good spirits. What happened during the day didn’t scare her.” Atlas Hallow noticed Charlotte Miller looking somewhat distressed, so he pulled her onto the sofa and poured her a glass of water.

Charlotte Miller must have heard Avery Jane talk about her background, hence her sentimental mood.

”Atlas Hallow, I’m a bit uneasy. Could something happen?” Charlotte Miller felt her heartbeat growing irregular, a bit flustered.
