Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

How could she meet someone dressed in a nightgown?

The chief stared obsessively at the delicate woman, as tender as a springtime begonia, her beauty matching the legends—so mesmerizing he couldn’t even keep his eyes open.

”Mr. Hughes is involved in a murder case. We would like Mr. Hughes to come to the police station to assist with the investigation,” the chief said with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. He couldn’t afford to offend Joshua Hughes before a conviction.

This time, however, the suspicion was the greatest, and someone had offered five million to ensure he couldn’t leave Las Vegas. It was just him going with the flow. Even the strongest man in his grip had to confess, or how could he live up to his nickname as the iron-fisted chief?

”Impossible?”

”Who died?”

Avery Jane and Joshua Hughes nearly asked simultaneously.

Avery couldn’t believe it, eyes wide open. This must be a joke. How could Joshua Hughes possibly kill someone?

”Of course, it’s possible, beautiful lady. Yesterday, George Parker died in Las Vegas, murdered, and the last person he contacted was Mr. Hughes.” The chief twisted his mustache, grinning evilly and ambiguously at Avery Jane.

”Even if your eyes are on you, don’t look around unnecessarily,” Joshua Hughes’s tone was chilly as he stood up from the bed.

”Even if I’m going back to the police station, I have the right to get dressed. Please leave.” He had to gouge out the eyes of this man who looked at Avery Jane that way; he knew too well what thoughts were in his mind.

”This is Las Vegas, Joshua Hughes. You still think you’re the sovereign in your Hughes Clan?” The chief leered at Avery Jane, thinking that even if he died under the peony, it would be worth it for such a beauty.

”Where are my people?” Joshua Hughes asked coldly. Today’s situation indicated he must go to the police station.

He was now worried about Avery Jane’s safety.

It all came unexpectedly and suddenly, but he must settle Avery Jane first before anything else.

”We invited them back for coffee, each one separately. Whatever reason they have for coming to Las Vegas, they must clarify.” They came prepared, almost activating two precincts’ police force.

”This lady should come back as well to record a statement.” The chief’s gaze remained fixated on Avery Jane, thinking that once they were at the police station, it would be his domain, allowing him to dictate how the statements would be recorded.

”Some things need to stop at the right time.” Joshua Hughes bristled with hostility. If it weren’t for all the people outside, if it weren’t for Avery Jane beside him, causing him some hesitation, he would have gouged out the disgusting man’s eyes and fed them to the dogs. But for now, he’d let those eyes stay on his face for a couple more days.

What game was being played here, only by going to the police station with him could he truly figure it out.

”Avery, stay in the room alone, don’t leave a single step, understand?” He bent down, brushing Avery Jane’s hair.

Her eyes were as clear as mountain springs, tinted slightly with worry as she whispered, ”I understand, you take care.”

Avery Jane was terrified, terrified to the point of almost bursting into tears, but she couldn’t let him worry.

She held back her almost trembling little hand, gently wrapping his rough large hand, softly saying, ”I’ll wait for you to come back.”

Looking up at him was like looking up at the sun in her heart.

The man’s lips curved into a soul-stirring slight smile, brushing her slightly messy hair.

At this moment, this man, how could he still smile?

Avery Jane’s eyes finally couldn’t hold back, misting over with a thin layer of tears.

Joshua Hughes kissed her forehead softly, then turned to face the chief, bending down and speaking lowly in the chief’s ear, ”If you dare to mess with her, you will regret it, not only you will die, your whole family will die, no matter who, male or female, young or old, I’ll wipe out your family, understand? Even if there’s a pet, I won’t let it go. Don’t say I haven’t killed anyone. Even if I did, do you think you could hold me? Remember what I said, I won’t repeat it. And you need to ensure her safety. If anything happens to her while I’m not by her side, I will hold you accountable. Since you dare to mess with me, you better have the guts to bear it.”

Joshua Hughes’s voice was light, like a spectral command from a devil from the inferno, lingering in the chilly air, winding around the chief’s heart, tightening and tightening until it almost made him unable to breathe.

Seemingly suffocating, with his face flushed, the chief shook his head sharply to clear his senses back, angrily saying, ”You are threatening a chief?”

This man was too daring. The legendary Joshua Hughes was notoriously domineering. Apparently, the rumors were true; this man was indeed arrogant beyond measure.

”I’m only telling you what will happen...” Joshua shrugged. The black suit he wore exuded an irresistible authority.

He looked back at Avery Jane, providing her the strongest comfort and conviction.

Then he turned and left with the scrawny chief.

At the same time, Atlas Hallow also received the news.

Actually, Charlotte Miller jokingly mentioned their late-night chat yesterday. After he finished the call with Joshua Hughes, she had already moved to the adjacent room wearing a robe; even the presidential suite had more than three bedrooms, so she chose a smaller one and locked herself inside to sleep.

That was better. If she had slept by his side the whole night, it would have been unbearably awkward.

Early in the morning, awakened by a call, he planned to probe which funds besides those from Big Head Geogre’s bank were involved.

Because even though the casinos had a lot of money flowing, obtaining so much cash flow wasn’t simple. Besides Big Head Geogre, there must be others involved. The mix of black and white money had long been no secret, and he was concerned about other shadowy funds pouring in.

He’s not afraid to cause trouble, never has been, but he needs to know how big the trouble is to resolve it, right?

Picking up the phone, no doubt it was Daniel Parker calling, as he leaned against the bedrest, glanced outside. Charlotte didn’t seem to be up yet.

He didn’t even close the door when he slept last night, just to minimize the distance between them, even if it was just his imagination. It felt like with one less door, they would be closer.

”Joshua Hughes was just taken away by the police...” Daniel Parker’s voice was serious; there was absolutely no hint of joking.

”What?” Atlas Hallow could hardly believe it, Joshua Hughes being taken by the police?

”I went downstairs to have breakfast early this morning, just happened to see a lot of police in the elevator, roughly hundreds surrounding his floor. I waited at the hotel lobby, and sure enough, Joshua Hughes was taken out of the room by the police.” Daniel was also amazed; Joshua Hughes’s arrest was an alarming event, likely to cause a terrible upheaval.

”Do you know why? Did you hear any news?” Being taken away in Las Vegas really threw things into chaos. Atlas thought of the collaborative agreements he had with Joshua Hughes. There weren’t many people he could do big business with together anymore, why did such an incident happen?

”Tiger Geogre is dead...” After Daniel said this, the call plunged into silence.
