Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

Joshua Hughes didn’t mind having tea with Atlas Hallow because he knew they would never be enemies.

Some people and things are so strange that even if they haven’t intersected, you can tell what the other person is like just by feeling.

To say that one cherishes heroes is a bit much, but it’s close enough.

Tiger Geogre stood up and came out again, his steps really had a bit of a tiger’s gust.

”Young Master Hallow, I’ve been waiting for quite some time, but today a distinguished guest happened to visit suddenly. I wonder if Young Master Hallow would mind everyone having a cup of tea together?” Tiger Geogre still wore a full smile.

These two young men are the most influential in today’s business world, and they both came here on the same day; it’s almost as unbelievable as the sun and moon hanging in the sky.

”I don’t mind.” Atlas Hallow said lowly. He could deduce that the one sitting inside must be Joshua Hughes.

He didn’t mind sitting down for tea with Joshua Hughes, because from the words of his mother-in-law, he could confirm that Joshua Hughes was an ally, not an enemy.

A long table of yellow pear blossom wood, Joshua Hughes sat at one end, Atlas Hallow on the other, while Tiger Geogre sat in the middle brewing tea.

The air faintly floated with an exceptionally charming aroma of tea; the silver charcoal in the brazier burned red, and when the water boiled, a quick pour brewed a reddish-brown tea.

”Since neither of you minds sitting together for tea, then you’re friends. Feel free to speak up if there’s anything. If I can do it, I certainly won’t decline.” Tiger Geogre pushed the brewed tea towards the two of them, gesturing for them to partake.

”Master Tiger is indeed straightforward. Mr. Hughes truly is here for a reason today. I want to ask Master Tiger about someone who lived in Las Vegas twenty-two years ago named Luke Harringtons; have you heard of him?” Joshua Hughes lifted his small teacup and took a sip, his deep eyes seeming to flash with stars, knowing that the person he was looking for was definitely right.

Even if Tiger Geogre had no connection to Luke Harringtons, he would certainly know some of the past events.

”Why would Young Master Hughes suddenly ask about this person? He vanished in Las Vegas over twenty years ago...” Tiger Geogre’s gaze dimmed a bit, seemingly with a touch of sorrow.

Atlas Hallow quietly drank his tea, and listening to a story at such a time was also nice. Who exactly was Luke Harringtons to warrant Joshua Hughes coming personally to Las Vegas, and this person vanished over twenty years ago?

”I have reason to find him. Master Tiger, do you know where he went?” Joshua Hughes also raised his teacup and took a sip, knowing Tiger Geogre was straightforward, which was one of his reasons for seeking him.

Witnesses of Las Vegas’s gambling industry history over these decades are not many, and Tiger Geogre can be counted among them.

So anyone who could leave a mark in the history of Las Vegas, Tiger Geogre would surely remember and know.

”Is Young Master Hughes an enemy or a friend to him?” Tiger Geogre’s sharp eyes watched Joshua Hughes, needing to know their relationship because there are many possibilities in this world.

If he spoke wrongly or did the wrong thing today, it could bring disaster upon himself.

He’s old now and doesn’t want to deal with those troublesome and dangerous matters anymore, so he must understand Joshua Hughes’ purpose here.

”It’s hard to say enemy or friend; he’s actually someone known to my family and has always been a connection. If I must distinguish between enemy or friend, then friend it is.” The Hughes Family and Luke Harringtons didn’t have direct relations, but there were connections.

His daughter holds ten percent of the Hughes Clan’s shares, now the third-largest shareholder, second only to him and Luis Hughes. Her appearance will change the current stalemate between him and Luis Hughes, and the ten percent she holds will decide the birth of a new master of the Hughes Clan.

This once again proved the wonder of destiny. Atlas Hallow and Joshua Hughes were encountering almost identical problems simultaneously, all related to shares. The struggle for wealth among noble families seems inevitable.

”If that’s the case, then I can speak truly.” Tiger Geogre brewed tea, the fine tea leaves emitted a faint and captivating fragrance...

”Young Master Hallow can also listen; this is the most legendary yet unknown story in Las Vegas.” Tiger Geogre picked up the teacup and poured fresh tea for Atlas Hallow and Joshua Hughes, then slowly began recounting the past.

”I’m all ears,” Atlas Hallow raised his teacup, and Joshua Hughes also raised his, gesturing like a toast before each took a sip.

”Luke Harringtons, speaking of him, was a genius— a genius at gambling, excelling at all kinds of gambling.” Tiger Geogre upon hearing Joshua Hughes mention this name, began to sink into the deepest and most secret memories of the past.

”He loved lingering in casinos, even slot machines he would play to the limit. A young man with high enthusiasm, always winning in casinos, naturally made many enemies, but he was unique in that he never cheated, never duped in gambling, so he was never caught on anything. In this place, Las Vegas, if you have the skill to win money, casino owners dare not overtly make a move. If you won money at the venue only to die inexplicably, then who would still dare to come and play? But the idea of wanting him dead never left the minds of some...” Tiger Geogre seemed to see that spirited young man from twenty-some years ago— sharp brows, starry eyes, full of vigor— always dressed in immaculate suits, wearing a tie, generous with tips, truly a charming figure of the world.

Joshua Hughes and Atlas Hallow said nothing, merely quietly acted as listeners.

These were the Annals of Las Vegas, having settled in the river of time. Listening to Tiger Geogre talk about it at this moment, they too seemed to see that handsome youth moving swiftly and decisively in the casino.

”Later, he met a woman, I still remember her name. It was very nice, called Catherine Wood. Honestly, I’ve been in Las Vegas for so many years, seen all kinds of women, but that woman was truly beautiful— so beautiful that one couldn’t take their eyes off her. If I hadn’t already had my wife back then, I would’ve wanted to pursue her, maybe even steal her, despite being called Tiger Geogre. But my wife was the real tigress...” Tiger Geogre awkwardly smiled as he touched his bald head.

In this life, perhaps the most unforgettable woman he’d seen was Catherine Wood.

”Master Tiger’s speaking lightly,” Joshua Hughes faintly smiled and drank the tea handed by Tiger Geogre.

”Since ancient times, beautiful women loved heroes, moreover Luke Harringtons was such an outstanding man, so the two fell deeply into love, loved earnestly. Luke Harringtons began gambling madly, wanting to win enough money to take Catherine Wood abroad to start life anew, because at the time, liking Miss Wood wasn’t just him.” Tiger Geogre’s gaze darkened again as he spoke.

When people are old, they often fear recalling, especially unpleasant matters, the more one recalls, the more one feels life’s brutal and terrifying nature.

”Las Vegas had two prominent figures, surely Hughes has heard of them. Today, you came to see me first, considering me worthwhile. Another one Hughes must have heard of is Big Head George. The two of us actually have some fate; both our names have the character ’George,’ the rivalry between us has gone on for many years...” Across the way was Big Head George’s hotel, equally resplendent.

”Heard of, but haven’t interacted with.” Joshua Hughes withdrew his afar-gazing eyes. Big Head George had a bad reputation publicly; in recent years, even involved in arms trading, someone extremely troublesome, akin to someone who seeks money at the cost of life.

Atlas Hallow’s heart secretly shook, he too had come to inquire about Big Head George. He and Joshua Hughes had an unusual connection; Luna Miller’s three fingers were severed at Big Head George’s casino.

”Back then, he also took an interest in Miss Wood. At that time, Luke Harringtons was immersed in his venues daily. The money won was already enough for him to live abroad, yet he still wanted to win one more time. On the night before the incident, he came to see me, thanked me, indicating that after tomorrow’s final big game, he would leave...”

Tiger Geogre reminisced about back then, he too sat with Luke Harringtons like this, brewed tea, advised Luke, and looked at Joshua Hughes, his eyes slightly moist, ”I truly advised him like this. Big Head isn’t someone to mess with lightly. Winning so much money from him and wanting to leave, I fear it wouldn’t be smooth sailing. But those years gave him a bit of arrogance. He said his wife already had a child, his passport for going abroad was ready, just waiting for tomorrow’s final win to leave.” Tiger Geogre recalled painfully, picking up a pipe with trembling hands adding tobacco, inhaling deeply.

”That gambling match is still remembered by the older generation working in casinos. It was the most tragic gambling match of all. In all these years, I haven’t experienced such a scenario again.”
