Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

”Yes, Mrs. Hughes’s father indeed lost three fingers.” When he talked to Charlotte Miller about Luna Miller’s fingers just now, Charlotte mentioned how strange it was to meet Avery Jane recently, as her father also lost three fingers.

”Thank you...” The two words were said somewhat dryly, and then the call was hung up.

Joshua Hughes found it hard to believe everything he heard today.

Things are already complex enough between him and Avery Jane, how could she possibly have another layer of identity?

His temples throbbed as he tried hard to calm himself down, but the news from Tiger Geogre was simply too hard to digest.

If what Tiger Geogre said was true, if Avery Jane was indeed Luke Harringtons’ daughter, then how badly she must be hurting, having a mother who suffered the most terrifying inhuman violation just after having her.

And her father was framed, fell into a trap, lost his fingers, became a cripple, spent his days with alcohol, depression accumulated, and eventually contracted an incurable disease and died.

These experiences left her without family in her teens, living a life dependent on others.

Thinking of this, his heart twisted painfully...

He couldn’t let anyone know Avery Jane’s background anymore; her world should be as simple as possible, and this matter should be known to as few people as possible.

Joshua Hughes remembered the things he did in Tiger Geogre’s office just now, not regretting it at all.

The man’s brow was tightly furrowed, the ”川” shape between his brows seemed engraved.

Gradually, a violent and bloodthirsty light surfaced in his eyes; to make Avery Jane’s life simpler, he must clear away all obstacles, including Big Head Geogre who ruined her family.

Las Vegas nights were always extremely beautiful, the bright neon lights made the whole city look like a sleepless metropolis.

Soil that can bloom the most beautiful flowers is often filled with sin.

In such a night, evil was quietly spreading, like the phantoms lurking in the dark corners, waiting for their chance to move.

In the hotel at dawn, sunlight streamed in from the window, the beige curtains brushed gently by the bright spring sunlight, the entwined sleepers were intertwined like vines, giving a sense of beauty and romance.

Still in the world of dreams, Joshua Hughes’s eyes suddenly opened, flashing a sharp light like a fierce leopard, with a constant alertness clearly reminding him that someone was approaching, and there were many of them...

He felt under the pillow next to the bed, his hand grasping a small, black gun, while pulling the quilt up to cover Avery Jane.

It’s too late to do anything now; listening to the footsteps, in merely two seconds, his bedroom door would be opened.

The bullet was chambered, though he guessed no one would have the guts to act in a hotel, the visitors were definitely no ordinary folks. He had four bodyguards outside his room, all highly trained, yet for these people to knock them down and come to his room already spoke of their skills.

But hearing the footsteps felt disorderly, chaotic, and numerous, his eyes squinted like a storm was brewing from within his gaze. The phone was already dialed, he had no time to talk, the door was opened.

”Mr. Hughes...?” The man in a commander uniform had two small mustaches, not tall, but his eyes were very shrewd.

Behind him was the door leading to the room connecting the living room, outside filled with officers armed to the teeth, occupying the entire presidential suite with at least a three-hundred-square-meter hall.

No wonder they could control his bodyguards, turns out there were so many of them.

”Joshua Hughes.” The police officer confirmed Joshua Hughes’s identity once again, the man sitting on the bed was bare-chested, his body full of powerful lines, exuding a natural authority.

Next to him, the quilt seemed to move slightly, Joshua Hughes gently patted it, as if comforting the small figure curled inside, his gaze was tender and almost melting.

”It’s so noisy...” Avery Jane drowsily opened her eyes, scared stiff upon seeing the officers in uniform, bewildered about what was happening, perhaps thieves had come in?

”What’s going on?” she asked softly, shrinking further inside, somewhat bashful as she burrowed in the quilt.
