Apocalypse Escape: Day One of Survival

”Ma’am, I can still... still fit a little more!” Ji Taixian was so exhausted, he was huffing and puffing.

Song You’ai said nothing, but inwardly, she was gobsmacked.

When her own daughter had stored six freezers in one go, she didn’t see any of this stripping off clothes and jumping around.

Besides, her daughter only had a small Space, definitely not as large as Ji Taixian’s fifty-square-meter one.

”Tai Xian, you need to work out more, you hear? A young man shouldn’t be so weak!” Song You’ai said earnestly, patting Ji Taixian’s shoulder.

The young man felt rather offended.

Xie Ning glanced at Lu Wei and his men, who were still moving goods, and walked straight up to Gu Chen. ”Captain Gu, thank you for your help along the way. I think it’s time we went our separate ways. You have to get to your mission point, and we don’t want to get in your way.”

Gu Chen smiled at her, his galaxy-deep eyes sparkling as he stared. ”I have a favor to ask before we part. Can we strike a deal?”

Xie Ning stared back at him, her face expressionless.

She felt that even when this man was just slumping against a wall without a care for his image, he was probably surrounded by enthusiastically blooming peach blossoms.

”I saw that metal knife you made for your mother. It looked incredibly useful. Could you make some for our team?” The man’s charming eyes curved into crescents as he smiled. ”We can pay with supplies.”

Xie Ning didn’t hesitate for a moment. She nodded. ”I can, and I don’t need any supplies. It’s just that with my current Gold Element Energy, I can only make two more Metal Knives at the moment.”

’After all, I need to conserve some energy to find Junjun once we’re back on the road. If I use up all my superpower energy now, I’ll be in trouble if we run into danger.’

”That’s fine, that’s fine. But we insist on giving you the supplies. I can’t just take advantage of you.” Gu Chen nodded again and again, beaming. ”In that case, I’ll place an advance order for thirty. You can take your time making them. You can just give me the rest the next time we meet.”

Xie Ning silently shot him a look.

’He says that with such certainty, as if he’s sure we’ll meet again!’

”Wait here, then.” Xie Ning walked over to a row of cloth-upholstered sofas by the window, sat down, and slowly began to craft the long metal knives.

Her Superpower Level wasn’t high, so it took her about five to ten minutes to make a single knife.

By the time the two long metal knives were complete, fifteen minutes had passed.

Gu Chen handed one of the long metal knives to his team’s precious Space Ability User for self-defense.

Wu Meng was overjoyed when he took the knife.

These two long knives Xie Ning had made were a good forty centimeters longer than the one Song You’ai was holding.

After all, for a group of young men who were all over 1.8 meters tall, a long knife around 1.2 meters in length was an excellent fit.

”This is amazing! I love this knife! Your Gold Ability is incredibly useful.” Wu Meng was all smiles, thanking Xie Ning again and again.

Xie Ning was a bit embarrassed by the praise. ”It was nothing, really. No need for thanks. Well, we’ll be taking our leave now.”

”Wait.” Gu Chen walked over and whispered something to Lu Wei.

Lu Wei nodded and quickly got a few of the young men to move supplies, loading box after box into the trunk of Xie Ning’s car.

Gu Chen walked back to Xie Ning with a smile. ”Just a few small things. Don’t say no.”

”Thank you.” Xie Ning thought to herself, ’No wonder Mom’s been calling him Xiao Gu left and right. This Xiao Gu really knows how to handle people.’

”Mom, we’re going.”

”Alright, dear.” After affectionately saying her goodbyes to Gu Chen—with a few more ”Xiao Gu”s thrown in—Song You’ai hurried out of the store.

”Let’s go, sweetie!”
