Apocalypse Escape: Day One of Survival

”Sister?” Gu Chen looked at her curiously.

”How do I advance?” Xie Ning asked the most crucial question.

Although she had entered the Superpower Academy in her past life, she was eliminated in the most critical team battle and failed to become an official student.

As a result, there were many things she was only taught later by her teammates, never having gone through any systematic training.

Furthermore, her small Space Ability was so stubbornly static it gradually became a source of despair.

Eventually, she stopped asking about superpower-related matters and advancement, giving up completely.

”Every Superpower User has a superpower source inside their body,” Gu Chen explained patiently. ”Advancement is actually very simple. Most Superpower Users will feel it when it’s time. Once you’ve accumulated enough energy in your body, you just need to channel it into your superpower source and break through the barrier of Zero. Then you can enter the world of One.”

The young girl nodded. ”Advancing from the Initial Stage to a First-stage Superpower User.”

”That’s right.”

”Thank you for telling me this. I’m going to try it right now.” Xie Ning nodded at the man, then turned and got into the car.

Seeing how eager she was, Gu Chen couldn’t help but chuckle.

Xie Ning poked her head out of the car window again. ”Captain Gu, let’s take a fifteen-minute detour. Avoid the supermarket.”

”Alright.”

After Gu Chen left, Xie Ning focused her entire mind on exploring that superpower source.

Xiao Huang Mao got the car moving again, falling in behind Gu Chen’s convoy.

Xie Ning, meanwhile, closed her eyes, sensing the so-called superpower source within her body.

As she gradually calmed her mind, she pushed all other thoughts aside. A vortex slowly materialized in her mind’s eye, seeming to be located just below her chest.

Floating within the vortex were two transparent, olive-pit-sized Crystal-like Objects.

One was gold, and the other was colorless, blending so well into the vortex that it was nearly invisible without careful observation.

Her body seemed to turn transparent. Inexplicably, Xie Ning could see streams of energy flowing upward from her abdomen, continuously converging and surging into the vortex.

’So this is the energy source inside a Superpower User’s body?’

’What a magical feeling!’

Xie Ning’s eyes suddenly lit up.

After waiting quietly for a few moments, the energy smoothly surged into the energy source.

Xie Ning, however, was unaware that Xiao Huang Mao, the driver, had glanced in the rearview mirror and nearly driven the car into a ditch.

Song You’ai was also given a huge fright by her daughter sitting beside her.

Her daughter was glowing from head to toe, as if a searchlight were shining on her, bathing her entire form in a snow-white light.

This holy sight made Song You’ai afraid to even reach out and touch her own daughter.

The white light enveloped Xie Ning’s entire body, and it continued to shine for as long as the car was moving. Eventually, it had scared Song You’ai so much she felt she might die. She repeatedly urged Xiao Huang Mao to overtake the vehicle in front of them, wanting to catch up to Captain Gu and ask what was happening.

Xiao Huang Mao slammed on the accelerator, but unfortunately, his driving skills were poor. Even after two attempts, he couldn’t overtake the small van driven by Ji Taixian up ahead.

The cars drove all the way into Su City before Gu Chen’s convoy stopped in front of a gas station. Only then did Song You’ai hastily open her car door and call for Gu Chen to come have a look.

”It’s nothing, she’s advancing.” Gu Chen, Lu Wei, and a few others came over to take a look, and they couldn’t help but be secretly astounded.

”Has it been two hours??”

”At least.”

”It takes this long to advance from Zero to the First Rank?” Lu Wei could no longer maintain the calm expression on his refined face.

Hearing that her daughter wasn’t in any danger, Song You’ai finally breathed a sigh of relief, though she felt a bit embarrassed. ”I’m sorry, I overreacted.”

”It’s no problem. I’ll have Lu Wei take the others to get some oil from the gas station. Ma’am, I’ll stay here with you all.”

As he spoke, his gaze swept over the varied expressions on the faces of Annie and the others.
