Medical and Martial God

The long-term laborers were simple folk. The ones from the village were even more so. They had firmly decided that Ye Xiu was a good man, a Divine Doctor who healed the sick and saved lives. They also firmly believed that the members of the Ye Family who had expelled him, along with the members of the Long Family on Huang Quan’s life-and-death list, were all wicked people who deserved to die. They were willing to stay behind and help the Divine Doctor get his revenge by teaching the Ye and Long families a proper lesson.

”Was it your parents whose legs were broken?” Ye Xiu asked, walking up to one of the laborers. ”Please take me to them. I can heal their injuries.”

The laborer, Liu Qiang, was moved to tears. ”Thank you, thank you, Divine Doctor Ye! Okay... Uh, please, follow me.”

As the others watched Ye Xiu and the laborer walk away, the members of the Ye and Long families collectively collapsed to the ground. Only then did they realize their clothes were soaked through with cold sweat. Still, they felt an overwhelming sense of relief, as if they had survived a great calamity.

”Everyone, get up and work!” Liu Dakang shouted, picking up Long Lin’s whip and glaring at the assembled families.

”You...” The members of the Ye and Long families were furious.

”Still have the nerve to glare at me? Believe it or not, I’ll tell Divine Doctor Ye,” Liu Dakang retorted. He felt powerful borrowing the Divine Doctor’s authority, showing the Ye and Long families no respect at all. He lashed the whip across Ye Tianming’s back and roared, ”Get to work!”

Ye Tianming drew in a sharp, angry breath. ”You’re ruthless!”

At that moment, the Ye and Long families truly didn’t dare to cross Liu Dakang or the other laborers. They all picked up their weapons and headed for the mountains to begin quarrying. Most of them were Martial Artists, including two Second Realm War Gods—Ye Tianming and the head of the Long Family—and a host of First Realm War Gods. Channeling their Inner Strength into their weapons, they sliced through stone as if it were tofu, though it was incredibly draining on their Martial Prowess.

Now the tables had turned. It was time for the long-term laborers to eat watermelon, bask in the sun, and enjoy the scenery while the members of the Ye and Long families performed the back-breaking labor.

...

By the time Ye Xiu followed Liu Qiang to the county hospital, night had fallen. After healing the broken legs of Liu Qiang’s parents, Ye Xiu instructed him to tell all the other laborers to give their bank account numbers to the head of the Long Family and Ye Tianming the next day. With that done, he left the hospital and found a hotel in the county town to stay for the night.

Meanwhile, Kristina was walking alone in the Wanjing Mountains. Although it was past eight o’clock in the evening, the mountains were ablaze with lights and bustling with activity. The construction team had not stopped working just because it was dark. The workers were divided into three shifts, each working eight hours in a round-the-clock cycle, ensuring the project continued twenty-four hours a day.

To make sure the Mist Chant Martial Meeting happens on schedule, Ye Xiu is really putting in the effort! Kristina thought as she walked, seeing nothing but people laboring diligently. In her mind, Ye Xiu must have pressured the workers, forcing them to toil day and night to ensure the safety of Qin Qing and Leng Yue.

However, Kristina didn’t know the real reason the workers were so dedicated. It wasn’t because of pressure from Ye Xiu, but because the pay was simply too good. A regular laborer, who would normally work to exhaustion for at least ten hours a day to earn one or two hundred yuan, was now making a thousand a day. A skilled technician, who usually earned between 300 to 500 a day, now started at 1,500. Furthermore, they only worked eight-hour shifts and were treated to feasts of fish and meat at every meal.

The workers were honest, down-to-earth people. With such generous pay and excellent treatment, of course they worked their hearts out!

Where exactly is Unparalleled Mountain? Kristina wondered, looking at the location pin on her phone. There was a pin, but no navigation route. She could only try to find her way forward based on its general direction.

Damn you, Ye Xiu! You don’t answer my calls, you don’t reply to my texts... you just wait... she grumbled to herself as she walked.

It was past one in the morning when Kristina finally found Unparalleled Mountain.

”Stop! Don’t go any further!” a thunderous voice suddenly shouted when she was about two hundred meters away.

”I am Kristina,” she stated flatly.

Just then, a masked figure in black jumped down from a large nearby tree, ran over to Kristina, and knelt on one knee. ”Subordinate Yin Pinghu pays his respects to the Princess.”

”Get up,” Kristina said with a slight lift of her hand.

Yin Pinghu rose and said respectfully, ”Princess, please don’t be angry. I am not trying to make things difficult for you, but the area within two hundred meters of Unparalleled Mountain is filled with landmines. It is extremely dangerous for you to approach.”

”Landmines?” Kristina was stunned. ”Why would there be landmines around Unparalleled Mountain?”

”This was ordered by Lord Yue Longxuan,” Yin Pinghu explained. ”Lord Yue Longxuan personally went to Xuanse’s Western Border, seized the Battle Soul Blade that Huang Quan had placed on the Boundary Monument, and issued a challenge. They are to fight tomorrow at noon on Unparalleled Mountain.”

Oh? Hearing Huang Quan’s name, Kristina’s eyes sharpened. ”Does Yue Longxuan intend to kill Huang Quan with landmines?”

”Yes,” Yin Pinghu nodded.

”Why does Yue Longxuan want to kill Huang Quan?” Kristina asked.

”Huang Quan’s global influence is too great. With a single call to arms, every Martial Artist in the world, except for those from the Eternal Kingdom and the Restorer Alliance, would obey him. Lord Yue Longxuan is worried Huang Quan will cause trouble during the Mist Chant Martial Meeting. Furthermore, by killing Huang Quan, the Eternal Kingdom can take his place and project its power across the world,” Yin Pinghu explained.

Kristina pondered this for a moment. ”Huang Quan does deserve to die, but with Yue Longxuan’s strength, he could have faced him in a fair fight. There’s no need to resort to despicable means like landmines. Besides, killing him with an explosion won’t grant the Eternal Kingdom the same level of influence Huang Quan possesses.”

”Lord Yue Longxuan sees Huang Quan as an ant, unworthy of being killed by his own hands,” Yin Pinghu said. ”After Huang Quan is blown to bits, someone else will put on the Huang Quan Suit to fight Lord Yue Longxuan and subsequently lose to him. The entire process will be filmed and posted on the martial artist forums. That is how the Eternal Kingdom will seize Huang Quan’s global influence.”

”That plan could work,” Kristina nodded. ”I’m tired. Take me somewhere to rest.”

”As you command!” Yin Pinghu hurriedly led the way.

After the two departed, a masked figure in black who had been hiding in the dark bushes quietly slipped away. They arrived at a small mountain village about three kilometers away and leaped into a farmhouse courtyard. Once inside the house, the figure removed her mask and hood, revealing her true face.

It was Meng Yinwan.

This small farmhouse was her covert hideout. She took out her phone, opened an app, and tapped on a group chat named ’Restorer Alliance’.

She typed, ”Yue Longxuan is going to make a move on Huang Quan.”

”What’s going on?”

”Has Yue Longxuan lost his mind? Why provoke Huang Quan for no reason?”

”Did Huang Quan do something to the Eternal Kingdom?”

”Meng Yinwan, what’s happening?”

In an instant, hundreds of people in the group became active. Meng Yinwan promptly shared everything she had gathered, including the details she overheard from Yin Pinghu.

The group immediately erupted.

”Huang Quan is doomed.”

”He’s dead for sure!”

”Yue Longxuan’s strength is unfathomable. Even Meng Yinwan is no match for him. Killing Huang Quan will be a piece of cake!”
