Medical and Martial God

Kristina continued, ”Ye Xiu, if you truly wish to pledge allegiance to me, I will bestow upon you some precious medical texts from the treasured collection of the three Great Judicator Families!”

Her temptation was blatant, and she wasn’t bluffing. The three Great Judicator Families did indeed possess a vast collection of medical texts; it was just that no one could understand them.

”There isn’t an illness in this world I can’t cure. I don’t need the medical texts from the three Great Judicator Families.” Ye Xiu proudly declined, not wanting to waste time on the topic. Instead, he asked, ”Since the medical skills in the Eternal Kingdom are so advanced, you must have a lot of precious medicinal herbs, right?”

In truth, Ye Xiu had been eyeing the herbs of the Eternal Islands for a long time. The Eternal Kingdom was suffused with spiritual energy, so herbs nourished by it were bound to have extraordinary medicinal properties.

”Of course,” Lin Xin boasted. ”The Eternal Kingdom is covered in precious herbs, but nobody values them. The mountain folk even use them as pig feed.”

Kristina sucked in a sharp breath. Crown Prince, take it easy! That boast is stretched so thin it’s about to burst!

Ye Xiu could tell Lin Xin was exaggerating, of course, but he knew the claim about the Eternal Islands being rich in herbs couldn’t possibly be false. He said, ”Get me some of those herbs, and in the future, if anyone from the Eternal Kingdom gets injured in Nanjing, I’ll treat them for free.”

Kristina and Lin Xin’s eyes lit up. That sounded like a very cost-effective deal.

”Deal!” Kristina agreed readily, asking, ”What kind of herbs do you want?”

”I’ll write you a list after I’ve healed your men,” Ye Xiu replied with a smile.

Kristina nodded.

「Two and a half hours later.」

All twenty-nine of the mangled, half-dead injured men were now miraculously healed and bursting with life.

Kristina and Lin Xin were secretly astounded. As expected of the Xuanse Medicine King, Ye Xiu’s medical skills were simply divine. Now, people from the Eternal Kingdom no longer had to fear being injured in Nanjing.

”Here’s the list of herbs I want.”

Ye Xiu handed over a list he had written. After reading it, Lin Xin and Kristina were stunned. The list contained an enormous variety of precious herbs, and the requested quantities were staggering. Ye Xiu was clearly trying to empty the entire medicinal treasury of the Eternal Kingdom.

”Is it a bit much? Or perhaps the Eternal Kingdom doesn’t have this many herbs?” Ye Xiu asked, using a bit of reverse psychology because he was worried Kristina would try to bargain.

”Not at all, not at all!” Kristina couldn’t admit it was too much now, not after Lin Xin had boasted so grandly. ”This amount is nothing to the Eternal Kingdom,” she said. ”I’ll have the next group coming to Nanjing bring them along.”

They don’t need to bring them. My people will just take them by force in Tamwood City, Ye Xiu thought coldly, but said aloud, ”Alright, I need to rest. You two can go about your business.”

Kristina and Lin Xin were in no mood to stay either; the very sight of Ye Xiu irritated them.

After they left, Ye Xiu was about to call Qing Luan when she called him first. ”Kristina posted on the Martial Artist Forum, summoning all Great Grandmasters, First Realm War Gods, and Second Realm War Gods to Nanjing. Did you know about this?”

Her voice was filled with anxiety and tension. She knew exactly what this meant.

”I was just about to tell you,” Ye Xiu said. ”Immediately send people to all the villages within a fifty-kilometer radius of the Mist Chant Martial Meeting. The villagers must evacuate within twenty-four hours. They can return after the event is over.”

”That will be difficult, but I’ll try,” Qing Luan replied.

Persuading so many villagers to abandon their homes for no apparent reason was a far more difficult task than a typical government demolition and relocation project. But if they didn’t leave, countless martial artists would soon flood into Nanjing. With no accommodations built yet, they would most likely take over the mountain villages. When that happened, countless innocent villagers would be beaten, or even killed.

That very afternoon, the Nanjing Official Family dispatched numerous personnel to all the villages within the area Ye Xiu had designated to persuade the residents to relocate.

As expected, all the villagers refused to move.

Qing Luan called Ye Xiu. ”The villagers are all refusing to move, and the Official Family can’t force them. What should we do?”

I knew this would happen... Ye Xiu sighed. ”I’ll handle it myself.”

”You? The Official Family is at a loss. What can you possibly do?”

”I have my ways,” Ye Xiu said confidently.

”Alright then. I’m currently in a village called ’Tang Family Ridge.’ I’ll send you the location.”

”Okay.” Ye Xiu hung up and set off as soon as he received the location from Qing Luan.

「Inside Tang Family Ridge Village!」

Following the Village Chief, Qing Luan arrived at an old man’s house. This man was the most senior elder in the village and was also the most respected. If he agreed to move and helped persuade the others, the rest of the villagers might be convinced.

”Elder Liang, this is Qing Luan, one of the Eight Great National Protector War Gods. She has something to discuss with you,” the Village Chief said.

The old man, known as Elder Liang, was incredibly ancient. He sat in his courtyard, fanning himself with a cattail fan as many other villagers gathered around.

”What did you say? I can’t hear you...” Elder Liang shouted at the Village Chief, his eyes murky.

The Village Chief leaned close to Elder Liang’s ear and bellowed his words again.

”What? A little louder!” Elder Liang yelled.

Just as the Village Chief was about to shout again, Qing Luan pointed beneath Elder Liang’s stool and asked, ”Oh? Did someone drop some money?”

”That’s mine, it’s mine!” Elder Liang said quickly, looking down under his stool. Of course, there was no money there.

The Village Chief’s face instantly darkened. Qing Luan hadn’t spoken loudly, yet Elder Liang had heard her perfectly. He had clearly been feigning deafness. It seemed the villagers had already told Elder Liang about the Official Family’s relocation request.

”Grandpa Liang,” Qing Luan said with a wry smile, ”the Official Family is only hoping you’ll move temporarily. They aren’t forcing you to abandon your homes forever. You’ll be allowed to return in two months.”

At this, Elder Liang began to wail, tears streaming down his face as if on command. He slapped his thigh and cried, ”My wife passed away long ago! Before she died, she made me promise to look after this house and never leave. If I move, she’ll be so furious she’ll open her eyes in her grave! I won’t move! I won’t move no matter what you say!”

Qing Luan frowned. After Elder Liang said that, she felt it would be improper to press him further.

The Village Chief’s expression, however, darkened again. Elder Liang’s wife had accidentally drowned in the river, and her body wasn’t found for three days. She hadn’t said anything before she died. It was obvious Elder Liang just didn’t want to move and was trying to fool Qing Luan.

But he didn’t dare say this to her. Instead, he said to the old man, ”Elder Liang, this move is mandatory. It’s not just our village; all the surrounding villages have to move. If you don’t cooperate, the Official Family will send people to carry you out by force.”

Elder Liang looked up at the Village Chief. ”If you’re going to talk like that, then I’m just going to fall over.”

Qing Luan was speechless.

The Village Chief was speechless.

Is he trying to pull a shakedown? they both wondered.

Just then, a helicopter flew in and hovered over Elder Liang’s house.

Ye Xiu jumped out!

My goodness!

The sight stunned the Village Chief, Elder Liang, and the villagers. Leaping from such a height... was this young man Superman?
