Medical and Martial God

After realizing Qin Qing and Leng Yue were in danger, Ye Xiu immediately called Kristina.

His only plan was to tell Kristina that he had killed a member of the Restorer Alliance and taken an Eternal Kingdom cellphone from the body. That way, Kristina could use the phone to contact the Eternal Kingdom right away, and the crisis facing Qin Qing and Leng Yue would be resolved.

However, the call didn’t go through. ”The number you have dialed is switched off...”

What the hell? Switched off? Ye Xiu suddenly realized it was possible Kristina hadn’t switched her phone off, but was simply in a location within the Wanjing Mountain Range with no signal.

This is bad!

Ye Xiu quickly called Gong Jin. ”Mobilize all intelligence personnel in the Wanjing Mountain Range to find Kristina! Hurry, hurry, hurry!”

”Understood!” Gong Jin replied.

After hanging up, Ye Xiu took out the Stone Mirror and sent a message to Leng Yue.

「On Biluo Island」

In the courtyard of a farmhouse in Sanyan Village, Qin Qing was practicing her swordsmanship with a preoccupied mind.

”Why does my right eyelid keep twitching?” she muttered. ”Does that mean something bad is about to happen?”

Leng Yue, who was nearby flipping through a history book of the Eternal Kingdom, added, ”I’m feeling a bit restless myself, as if something is about to happen.”

Just as she finished speaking, she sensed something. She flipped her right hand over, and a Stone Mirror appeared in her palm. It was a message from Ye Xiu: ”I’ve run into a little trouble here. Take Qin Qing and find a place to hide, quickly. If you’re pursued, don’t reveal your full strength unless it’s absolutely necessary.”

Leng Yue’s expression changed dramatically after reading it. ”Young Mistress, something’s wrong!”

”What is it?” Qin Qing ran over. After reading the message from Ye Xiu, her pretty face darkened instantly. ”He has some nerve, getting his own wife into trouble like this! Come on, let’s get out of here, now!”

Forgetting about packing, the two of them got up to flee from Sanyan Village.

BANG!

With a berserk kick, the courtyard gate was violently smashed open. Xue Man and An Bai strode in, brimming with murderous intent.

”By order, we are to arrest Qin Qing and Leng Yue! If they resist, show no mercy!” Xue Man announced coldly, her words laced with a triumphant sense of pride, as if she could finally hold her head high.

”Qin Qing, Leng Yue, aren’t you going to surrender?” An Bai scolded.

Qin Qing and Leng Yue exchanged a look, and in a shared, unspoken understanding, they leaped onto the roof and fled toward the mountains behind the house. Biluo Island was mountainous, especially on the southern side where Sanyan Village was located, which was covered in endless mountain ranges and dense forests. Fleeing into the mountains was their wisest choice.

”Think you can escape? Hmph. An Bai and I are Fourth Realm War Gods. As if we’d let you get away,” Xue Man scoffed disdainfully as she and An Bai gave chase.

However, after pursuing them for over ten minutes, they completely lost sight of Qin Qing and Leng Yue.

”How could they be so fast?”

Xue Man and An Bai were left bewildered. Little did they know, the moment they were out of sight, Leng Yue had begun carrying Qin Qing to flee. With Leng Yue’s strength as a Seventh Realm War God, she could run at full speed. Xue Man and An Bai could run their legs off and still never catch up.

”Quick, notify the lord,” An Bai said.

Xue Man hastily took out her phone and reported to Kristina’s father.

”Useless!” Kristina’s father cursed over the phone. ”You two continue the pursuit. I will mobilize the Biluo Island troops to conduct a search of the mountains.”

After Qin Qing and Leng Yue had gotten far away, Qin Qing asked, ”Can we shake them off?”

”It will be difficult,” Leng Yue said gravely. ”As far as I know, Biluo Island has a population of five million but a stationed army of two hundred thousand. Once the military begins a carpet search of the mountains, we’ll have nowhere to hide.”

Qin Qing was startled. ”The Eternal Kingdom has been hidden within a Formation for countless years and has no contact with other nations, so there are no external threats. Why would they need an army? Besides, the Eternal Kingdom has over thirty million Martial Artists; there’s no need to form an army of ordinary people.”

At this, Qin Qing’s pretty face changed drastically. ”Could it be... the Eternal Kingdom is plotting to take over the world? The Eternal Kingdom has over seventy million ordinary people. With two hundred thousand troops for a population of five million, that means the Eternal Kingdom has an army of nearly three million ordinary people.”

Leng Yue nodded, her eyes narrowing as she spoke solemnly, ”Furthermore, the ordinary people of the Eternal Kingdom have lived on the spiritually rich Eternal Islands since childhood. Their physical condition is more than ten times better than that of soldiers from any country in the world, perhaps even more so.

”From what I’ve gathered, the ordinary people on Biluo Island may lack cultivation aptitude, but they’ve been trained in Cold Weapons and external cultivation techniques since childhood. This means the combat power of every lower-class person is many times stronger than even the special combat teams from around the world. What’s most frightening is that the lower-class citizens of the Eternal Kingdom have a mandatory military service system. This means that if a world war were to break out, the entire nation would become an army.”

Qin Qing’s face turned deathly pale. Thirty million Martial Artists, and an army of tens of millions where each soldier is stronger than a member of a special combat team... that would be enough to sweep across the entire globe.

Just as Leng Yue was about to say more, her ears twitched. ”Not good, Xue Man and An Bai have caught up.”

With that, she hoisted Qin Qing onto her back and continued to flee, simultaneously taking out the Stone Mirror to inform Ye Xiu of their predicament.

At that moment, Ye Xiu was even more anxious than Qin Qing and Leng Yue. Biluo Island was located within a powerful Formation. Although Leng Yue had already identified the eighteen base towers that powered it in the surrounding sea area, Ye Xiu still hadn’t figured out how to break it, so he was completely unable to send reinforcements.

One careless move, and I’ve put Qin Qing and Leng Yue in this mess.

For the first time in ten years, Ye Xiu felt the situation spiraling out of his control.

Now, my only hope is that Gong Jin finds Kristina quickly. Where did that girl run off to?

...

In a wild bamboo forest, Kristina was sitting inside an army-green tent, eating bread and drinking bottled water.

Ye Xiu must be frantically searching all over the mountains for me right now, right? she thought, incredibly pleased with herself.

The previous night, after the thousand-man squad was ambushed, she had tried to call Ye Xiu, only to find she had no signal. Furious, Kristina had a flash of inspiration. She sneaked into the county town during the night, stole a tent, some bread, and bottled water, and then set up camp in the bamboo forest right next to the ambush site.

Now that I’m out of contact, Ye Xiu must be desperate to ensure Qin Qing and Leng Yue’s safety, she mused. He’ll definitely be searching everywhere for me. Humph, let him search. I’ll hide here for three to five days and let that bastard worry himself to death.

This was purely Kristina’s mischief, a way to get back at Ye Xiu for his failure to eliminate the Restorer Alliance members lurking in Nanjing, which had led to the annihilation of her squad.

Hehe, after this, Ye Xiu will have to treat me like a queen. He’ll have to scamper after me wherever I go.

At this moment, Kristina was utterly self-satisfied. She had completely lost the detached mindset required for cultivating the Supreme Oblivion Record—a state of no desire, no sorrow, no joy, no sentiment, and no attachment. She didn’t even realize that after meeting Ye Xiu, she had completely forgotten about her cultivation and was now sulking instead.
