Medical and Martial God

Led by the young man, Ye Xiu arrived in the backyard of the Wu Family Manor. He immediately saw everyone kneeling on the ground, as well as Jiang Shicheng’s corpse, and his brow furrowed instantly.

”Fortress Master, I have brought Ye Xiu,” the young man said.

Wu Qishan paid him no attention, not even turning to look at Ye Xiu, let alone greet him. He continued speaking arrogantly to the kneeling crowd.

”Don’t be fooled just because the Wu Family Fortress is hidden in the deep mountains, or because I, Wu Qishan, am only ranked 11th on the Global War God Ranking. The influence of myself and the Wu Family Fortress, both nationally and globally, is second to none. You must have heard the saying, ’When in the Wanjin Mountains, seek Wu Qishan for any matter.’ That saying is a testament to my power.”

These words were actually meant for Ye Xiu. Deliberately ignoring him and leaving him on the sidelines was a tactic to put him in his place.

However, no sooner had he finished speaking than he received a sharp slap on the back of his head.

”I’m already here. What the hell are you still putting on airs for?” Ye Xiu scolded after slapping him.

This slap stunned the young man who had led Ye Xiu over. Ye Xiu has too much nerve, daring to strike the Fortress Master in public!

Meanwhile, the people kneeling on the ground had to stifle their laughter. Just a moment ago, Wu Qishan had been boasting that even the great Medicine King Xuanse, Ye Xiu, would have to pay him a visit first upon arriving in Nanjing. Yet, the moment Ye Xiu arrived, he was met with a slap.

”You...” Wu Qishan was bewildered by the blow. He turned around mechanically, looking at Ye Xiu in disbelief. I can’t understand! Ye Xiu is just a doctor, and he clearly came to visit me. Why would he hit me in public? Of course, that question no longer mattered to him.

At this moment, a raging fury ignited in his chest. He had just finished boasting when Ye Xiu had publicly humiliated him. If word of this got out, how could he maintain his reputation in Nanjing? How could he face anyone in the global Ancient Martial Circle?

”Ye Xiu, you’re courting death!” Wu Qishan exploded with rage, his right hand lashing out like an eagle’s talon toward Ye Xiu’s throat.

This was his signature move, a unique skill of his own creation... the Eagle Claw Technique. Its power was not to be underestimated.

Back when Ye Xiu, under the identity of Huang Quan, had personally assessed everyone on the Global War God Ranking, he had witnessed Wu Qishan’s Eagle Claw Technique firsthand.

CRACK!

Wu Qishan’s claw successfully latched onto Ye Xiu’s neck as he moved to crush his throat. However, something was wrong.

”Your... your neck... how can it...?” Wu Qishan stammered, discovering that even using his full strength, he couldn’t crush Ye Xiu’s throat.

Ye Xiu replied with a playful smile, ”Sorry, I have an enlarged thyroid.”

His demeanor was no longer as violent as the day before; he had returned to his usual playful attitude, like a god looking down upon mortals.

”You scoundrel!” Though shocked that Ye Xiu’s neck was as hard as iron, Wu Qishan was further enraged by his mocking expression. In an instant, he switched tactics, abandoning the attack on Ye Xiu’s throat and striking at his other vital points with both hands.

Ye Xiu remained completely still, allowing Wu Qishan to attack him.

The young man who had brought Ye Xiu and all the kneeling people watched, dumbfounded, as Wu Qishan leaped about like a buffoon, frantically attacking Ye Xiu. Yet Ye Xiu stood motionless like a wooden post, and Wu Qishan’s attacks, powerful enough to shatter mountains and split stone, couldn’t harm him in the slightest.

Heavens! The legendary Medicine King Xuanse, Ye Xiu, was also a Martial Artist! And his strength was so formidable that even Wu Qishan, ranked 11th on the Global War God Ranking, couldn’t breach his defense.

”Did the Fortress Master used to work at a massage parlor? Your massage technique is quite good. It feels great,” Ye Xiu said mockingly as he watched Wu Qishan jump around.

Wu Qishan abruptly stopped his assault, exclaiming in shock, ”Golden Bell Shield? I always thought that in the global Ancient Martial Circle, apart from Vajra Sect Leader Song Penghui of Jin Ye City, no one would cultivate a foolish defense-oriented Kung Fu like the Golden Bell Shield. I never expected the renowned Medicine King Xuanse to not only cultivate it but to have brought it to the War God Level.”

SLAP!

Ye Xiu slapped Wu Qishan across the face. ”So full of yourself!”

Wu Qishan’s face felt as if it had been hit by a cannonball, and the force sent him tumbling a great distance before he crashed to the ground.

”How... how are you so fast? How is your attack power so strong?” Wu Qishan spat out a mouthful of blood. He lay on the ground, his head ringing for a good ten seconds before he struggled back up to ask his shocked questions.

He had assumed that Ye Xiu cultivated a defensive art like the Golden Bell Shield and would be lacking in speed and attack power. But the slap Ye Xiu had just delivered was so fast that he hadn’t even been able to follow its trajectory. Moreover, the power of that casual slap was immense, enough to grievously injure him.

”Yesterday, an instructor from the Red Flame Army killed Seventh Master and issued a warning: anyone who dared to shortchange the lower levels again would share his fate. Yet that very night, you rounded up all the project managers and orchestrated a mass strike,” Ye Xiu said as he walked toward Wu Qishan. ”Who gave you the nerve?”

Filled with inexplicable terror, Wu Qishan involuntarily stepped back for every step Ye Xiu took toward him.

Before he could answer, one of the kneeling middle-aged men spoke up. ”Wu Qishan said that in the past, he might have shown deference to the Red Flame Army instructor, but now the Wu Family Fortress has an expert backing it. He said he wouldn’t hesitate to kill them, not just some instructor, but even if all Eight Great National Protector War Gods came in person.”

Oh?

Ye Xiu narrowed his eyes. What kind of backer would make Wu Qishan so dismissive of the Eight Great National Protector War Gods?

He asked, ”Who is the Wu Family Fortress’s backer?”

The middle-aged man who had spoken shook his head. ”I don’t know.”

Ye Xiu turned to Wu Qishan. ”Who is your backer?”

”He’s someone you can’t afford to provoke.” Mentioning his backer restored some of Wu Qishan’s confidence. ”Ye Xiu, if you have the guts, let me call him.”

Ye Xiu nodded. ”Go ahead. Make the call.”

Wu Qishan immediately took out his phone and made a call. ”Master, someone is causing trouble at the Wu Family Fortress, and I am no match for him... You’re coming over? Good, I’ll wait for you.”

After hanging up, Wu Qishan glared at Ye Xiu. ”My master will be here soon. Don’t you dare run away.”

Ye Xiu ignored him and addressed the kneeling crowd. ”All of you can go back. Finish the work delayed by the strike as soon as possible. And don’t forget the Red Flame Army instructor’s warning.”

As if granted a pardon, the crowd scrambled to their feet, thanked Ye Xiu, and left in groups.

At this moment, their hearts were reeling with shock. Ye Xiu had made his debut at sixteen, claiming the title of Medicine King Xuanse with medical skills that were second to none. Now, at twenty-six, he had returned from abroad as a War God Level expert. On top of that, he was also the president of the Global Business Council. To possess so many astonishing achievements and such high social status at such a young age... he was truly a monster.

”It’s useless letting them go, Ye Xiu. Once my master arrives and kills you, I’ll just capture them all again,” Wu Qishan threatened viciously. He would not allow the story of his humiliation at Ye Xiu’s hands to spread.

”Believe it or not, I could crush you to death right now,” Ye Xiu threatened.

Wu Qishan was instantly so frightened that he didn’t dare utter another word.

Seeing this, Ye Xiu looked around, admiring the luxurious Wu Family Manor. Not bad. I don’t have a place of my own in Nanjing, so I’ve been staying in a hotel every night. The Wu Family Manor would be a perfect base of operations for me here.

「Fifteen minutes later!」

A figure streaked across the sky at an astonishing speed, landing in the backyard of the Wu Family Manor.

”Who dares to cause trouble at my disciple’s home?”
