Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 992: Chapter 996: An Eye for an Eye

Yuan Yuxun felt a mix of relief and sadness upon hearing his grandson’s words. At an age when he should be playfully leaning on his parents, he’s had to grow up due to all he’s been through.

He quickly explained, ”Your aunt has been invited to perform a surgery, so you don’t need to worry.”

Yuan Zining was reassured by his grandfather’s words: ”I understand. I’ll hang up now. Grandpa, I won’t be coming back for the next few days. My uncle is out on a mission and hasn’t returned, so I want to stay here and accompany my aunt.”

Yuan Yuxun did not object: ”Understood. I’ll have someone bring you your school materials and winter homework.”

He had a personal reason for not wanting his grandson to return.

After all, since he started dealing with those people, he feared they might seek out Zining. He didn’t want Zining to get involved.

He truly hadn’t anticipated that Zining’s cousin aunt began plotting against the Yuan Family early on. The Yuan Family’s previous ordeals were due to those secretly coveting their wealth, but now it’s revealed that Zining’s cousin aunt Ding Zhinan and her husband had also played a part.

Zining’s mother, Zhao Qingshan, was exceptionally kind to her cousin Ding Zhinan, not realizing she was unwittingly encouraging their couple’s greed.

What’s even more surprising is their meticulous planning; they had set everything up before their return. If he hadn’t noticed, coupled with Yunyi’s reminder, he couldn’t imagine the consequences.

Thinking of this, he picked up the phone again and dialed a number. After a while, someone finally answered: ”Hello, it’s me, Yuan Yuxun.”

”Why did you think to call me?”

”Come by when you have time; there’s something I’d like to ask of you.”

”No problem.”

After ending the brief call, he tapped the desk lightly, contemplating how he should retaliate against them.

Considering the investigation results, Ding Zhinan and her husband indeed had the audacity to collude with Qiao Family’s Third Master in Shanghai. Well, that’s just wonderful. Since she acts without compassion, she shouldn’t expect any from me either.

To his surprise, just as he was considering ways to counter them, the office door was knocked on: ”Come in.”

Upon seeing who it was, he showed a hint of surprise in his eyes: ”So soon?”

The visitor removed the hat as they walked into the office: ”You called for me, so I couldn’t possibly keep you waiting.”

Yuan Yuxun poured a glass of water for the visitor: ”Have some water to warm up first.”

The person accepted without hesitation and sipped the water slowly, having come on a motorcycle and nearly frozen.

With half a glass of warm water consumed, the visitor’s body finally felt warmed up: ”So, what’s the matter?”

Yuan Yuxun recounted to the person the matters he had uncovered.

After a brief silence, the visitor looked up at him: ”What do you plan to do?”

Yuan Yuxun’s eyes were sharp: ”I’ve always believed that if people don’t mess with me, I won’t mess with them. Since they’ve troubled the Yuan Family first, naturally, they deserve a counter from us.”

”Jiang’s two sons work at the steel plant and the city bus station, respectively. They say children pay for their parents’ debts; I won’t harm their lives, so let’s make sure their two sons are unemployed. From what I know, Jiang’s schemes were known and supported by his sons. Their losing their jobs wouldn’t be unjust.”

The visitor nodded: ”This isn’t difficult. Rest assured, we’ll handle it smoothly. What about Ding Zhinan and Shao Guoqiang then?”

Now, Yuan Yuxun’s eyes were filled with rage: ”They even tried to reach for my Zining, so don’t blame me for repaying in kind.”

As he spoke, he took a vial from the drawer: ”Take this and use it on the son they cherish. Let’s see if they still have the heart and time to plot against others.”
