Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 641: Chapter 640: A Dream That Disconcerts Fiona Sutton

”What’s wrong?”

Maxwell Peary noticed that something seemed off with Nia Mitchell, his brows furrowing slightly.

”Nothing much. Fiona Sutton just asked to meet with both of us.”

Hearing this from Nia, Maxwell’s reaction was similar to hers.

Although it was a normal occurrence for Fiona to invite Nia out, he couldn’t understand why he was invited as well.

”So, will you go?” Maxwell asked.

Nia nodded. ”Yes, let’s go together.”

「...」

Forty minutes later, they arrived at the Milk Tea Shop.

The Milk Tea Shop wasn’t large, but it was very cozy and clean.

Nia led Maxwell to the private room at the very back, where Fiona Sutton was sitting.

”Fiona, has something happened?”

Fiona lifted her head, looking at Maxwell who was sitting next to Nia, her lips moving slightly.

”Go get me a plain milk tea.”

Fiona looked at Nia. Nia hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

”Alright, please wait a moment.”

Once she finished speaking, she immediately left.

Sent away so easily, Nia turned and left without a second thought.

Watching Nia’s cheerful pace, Maxwell’s lips curved slightly, clearly in a good mood.

It wasn’t until Nia’s figure was out of sight that Maxwell turned his attention to Fiona.

”Speak. What did you want to see me for?”

Maxwell’s expression was icy, making him seem unapproachable.

”There’s no need to be so guarded, is there?”

Maxwell remained expressionless and silent.

Fiona, finding this pointless, decided to get to the point.

”Do you know where Yancy Hastings went?”

She had just had a dream. In it, Yancy Hastings was dying. He asked her if, at that moment, he wanted to take responsibility for her, would she agree? In the dream, she hadn’t hesitated at all, agreeing immediately. But then Yancy Hastings had backed out. He had said, ”It’s a good thing you didn’t agree. Otherwise, I would have held you back.” Even though it was just a dream, when she jolted awake, it felt extraordinarily real.

”What? You and Yancy Hastings...”

Maxwell didn’t consider himself a gossip, but Yancy Hastings was his good friend.

”There’s nothing between him and me. Young Master Peary, you just need to tell me where he is.”

Fiona had no intention of explaining. After speaking, she sat there, waiting for the answer she wanted.

Maxwell shook his head.

”Military secret.”

Those simple words answered everything.

Fiona was stunned. She didn’t know what branch of the military Yancy Hastings was in, nor what kind of mission he was undertaking, but it clearly wasn’t simple.

She recalled that morning when she had seen many injuries on him, including what looked like a gunshot wound. Although she had never seen a real gunshot wound, she had seen them on TV. In this world, what kind of soldier would sustain such injuries? This was supposed to be an era of peace, wasn’t it?

”It must be very dangerous, right?”

The things that couldn’t be spoken of were always the most dangerous.

”Yes.”

Maxwell picked up his teacup, sipped some water, and looking at Fiona, simply replied.

Fiona’s hands trembled as they clenched tightly together.

”I understand.”

Lowering her head, the Fiona of this moment lacked her usual flamboyance and carefree attitude.

”I’ve asked everything I wanted to.”

With that, Fiona stood up, grabbed her studded bag, and turned to leave, only to see Nia approaching as she did so.
